Pineapple Crush: Slot Overview

Arriving as a summer-themed release, Pineapple Crush is a fruity, ice-cold slot cocktail from Swedish studio Quickspin, built around a climbing multiplier. Quickspin blends a few familiar components with some fresher presentation, then tops it off with plenty of “ice.” The fresh part is mainly the theme, because Pineapple Crush is essentially a reskin of the Maneki cat Miso slot, Temple of Paw. That brings back the rising win multiplier concept, boosted by winning tumbles in the base game and by removed winning symbols during the free spins bonus.

Using Quickspin’s own framing, Pineapple Crush takes place in South Beach’s hottest club, La Piña, the “only place to get your hands on the ice-cold Pineapple Crush” drinks. With the beverage described as the “smoothest, zestiest, and most refreshing” you can imagine, it’s pitched as seriously tempting. The slot itself (not the drink) also looks cool and crisp, with frosty symbols giving it a Tropicool/Frozen Tropic vibe, set against a dreamy, neon-lit beach hangout. It’s a long way from Temple of Paw, that’s for sure.

On the numbers side, Pineapple Crush lines up with the cat original, as the key details are essentially unchanged. The math model is still highly volatile, scored 5 out of 5, and the default RTP sits at 96.01%. A bonus buy button remains on the left of the screen for anyone wanting to jump straight into the free spins feature, while the stake selector at the bottom right lets players choose bets from 20 c to $/€100 per spin.

Pineapple Crush uses a 5-reel, 3-row layout with 20 bet lines. As you play, winning symbols are removed from the reels and new symbols drop in to fill the gaps. If the drop creates another win, the tumble mechanic continues until no further wins appear. The low-paying J to A card ranks are shown frozen in ice and pay 1.25 to 5 times the bet. The higher-value lemons, grapes, watermelon slices, and cherries are also iced up and return 10 to 75 times the sake for a 5-of-a-kind hit. Wilds can land on every reel, substitute for all symbols except the scatter, and pay up to 125x for 5 OAK.

Pineapple Crush: Slot Features

In Pineapple Crush, you’re chasing wins not just for the payout, but because line wins and, later, individual symbols are what drive the win multiplier upward. This applies in both the base game and the free spins round, which can also be purchased.

Multiplier

In the base game, every winning tumble increases the win multiplier by +1. Once the spin ends, the multiplier returns to 1 for the next base game spin. The multiplier has no maximum cap.

Free Spins

Landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters awards 7, 10, 15, or 22 free spins, respectively. Scatter symbols can appear on any reel. Keep in mind, though, that it is only possible to land the sixth scatter by successfully advancing via the gamble wheel. In free spins, each winning symbol that gets removed adds +1 to the win multiplier, and it does not reset between free spins. Extra spins can also be won: +3, +5, or +7 free spins for hitting 3, 4, or 5 scatters, respectively.

Gamble Wheel

Before the free spins begin, players can gamble their current award for the chance to get an extra scatter using the gamble wheel. Gambling can continue until all 6 scatters are collected, or until a failed gamble wipes out the entire free spins bonus. Players can also skip the gamble and simply collect the free spins they’ve been given.

Buy Feature

By paying 100 times the bet, players can purchase entry to the free spins feature. When bought, the round starts with 3+ scatters, and it plays out the same way as if it had triggered naturally. The buy feature’s RTP is 96.51%.

Pineapple Crush: Slot Verdict

Much like the title it’s based on, Pineapple Crush is straightforward and easy to follow, with the multiplier mechanic as the headline feature that everything else feeds into. The contrast between the base game and the bonus round is clear, and while the main game offers small tastes of what’s possible, free spins are where Pineapple Crush can really take the brakes off and get a bit unruly. A multiplier that climbs after tumbles isn’t exactly rare these days, largely thanks to how common it’s become in Megaways slots. But increasing the multiplier via each removed winning symbol is much less widespread, and it’s a genuinely appealing hook.

As mentioned in the Temple of Paws review, ELK Studios used the “each symbol raises the multiplier” idea to great effect in Propaganda, and overall that game delivered a bigger thrill. It’s also more complex than Pineapple Crush, and can be punishing in the way ELK slots often are, which won’t suit everyone. Pineapple Crush, on the other hand, is fast, simple, and relaxed, making it a better fit for casual sessions. Even so, it can still bring the heat under all that ice, with a top potential win of 7,333.95 times the bet.

Still, Pineapple Crush often didn’t feel as electrifying as expected. Even when free spins produced strong multipliers, something tended to stop it from fully exploding. Maybe it’s the difficulty of connecting the bigger premium symbol hits? Another factor could be the 20-payline setup, especially when compared to the thousands of ways in a game like ArcanaPop (reviewed around the same time), which can also stack large multipliers in free spins and felt like it could detonate at any second—sometimes actually doing it. Ultimately, Pineapple Crush came across as more suited to “casual” gambling, with fewer emotional swings than some of the other slots referenced here, but potentially a very refreshing pour if it does finally cut loose.
