Odin Infinity Reels Megaways: Overview
Odin Infinity Reels is the third release in Australian studio ReelPlay’s Infinity Reels Series. Up to now, each entry has leaned into fantasy or history, and this newest chapter keeps that approach. Here, the action takes place in the legendary realm of Odin, the King of Asgard. Norse mythology is hardly an unusual slot theme, but what makes this one notable is ReelPlay’s choice to fuse the well-known Megaways engine with its own proprietary Infinity Reels mechanic.

The road to release was a bit uncertain for a time. Early on, ReelPlay and NetEnt had a dispute over who came up with the Infinity/InfiniReels concept first, drawing plenty of attention from onlookers. In the end, it didn’t turn into anything ugly—no drama, no theatrics—just a polite resolution and both parties moving on. That’s a win for players, particularly those who prefer a tougher style of slot. It’s a familiar point, but mythology games tend to go one of two ways: light, cartoonish visuals with constant grins, or the more grounded route ReelPlay has taken with Odin. There’s no cheeky charm here—everything is stern and weighty, and the atmosphere fits the underlying math model.
To start with, volatility is listed as Very High, placing it well apart from the earlier Infinity Reel titles. The game’s potential has also been increased, which we’ll cover shortly. RTP has dropped compared to the first two entries, but it remains respectable at 96.18%. In other words, ReelPlay has tightened the math while dialing up most other parts of the experience. A big reason for the shift is the addition of the Megaways engine, which is famous for huge counts like the commonly cited 117,649 ways to win.
Odin Infinity Reels makes that figure seem tiny—at least in theory. Because there’s no cap on how many reels can be added, there is no limit to how many Megaways may be in play. ReelPlay sums it up with: ‘Odin is the first slot in the world to offer Megaways to infinity.’ It’s a strong line, but what does it mean in practice? The win rule is unchanged: land three matching symbols on consecutive reels, something that happens on average once every 3.56 spins. The game begins with 3 reels, so you need winning symbols on all three.
Once a winning combo lands, the Infinity Reels system activates by adding an extra reel, giving you the opportunity to continue the chain. If additional winning symbols appear, more reels keep being added—without any limit—until the next reel fails to extend the win. Alongside this, there’s a symbol multiplier that starts at x1 and rises by +1 for every reel added. Available on all devices with stakes from 30 p/c to $/€12 per spin, Odin is easily the most visually impressive slot ReelPlay has released. The leap from their prior title, Giza Infinity Reels, is genuinely striking. With a dreamlike mountain valley backdrop that resembles a rich oil painting, the artwork is packed with careful detail and feels like a premium production.
A lot of attention has also gone into the symbols, with 10 (regular) shown in the paytable – 6 runes, plus wolves, ravens, and an eight-legged horse. Odin sits at the top of the paytable, with 3 on a payline paying 8 times the coin value. The Valknut symbol acts as the wild, replacing any symbol except the scatter.
Odin Infinity Reels Megaways: Features
Beyond the Infinity Reels core mechanic, there’s also a Jackpot plus a set of free spins to chase. A jackpot worth 888 times their bet is awarded (in addition to any other wins built up along the way) whenever a spin ends up creating 12 or more added reels. It may sound achievable, but in statistical terms it happens only about once every 63,323 spins.
Watch for Odin’s spear, Gungnir, because any win that uses it triggers free spins. Before the feature begins—occurring with a frequency of 1 in 315 spins—players are shown two wheels. The first wheel grants 8, 10, or 12 free spins, while the second determines the win multiplier increment level. At level 1, 2, 3, or 4, the win multiplier rises by 1, 2, 3 or 4 respectively each time an extra reel is added.
During the bonus, the key advantage is that the win multiplier does not reset between spins, allowing it to climb to very high values—especially if you land an incremental win multiplier of 4. On top of that, the feature can be extended whenever any Gungnir symbol win occurs, awarding an extra 4 spins.
Odin Infinity Reels Megaways: Verdict
With all the hype around Infinite Reels and Megaways, Odin Infinity Reels Megaways sets big expectations—does it follow through? Largely, it does. It’s clearly a more polished slot than the first two, thanks to stronger visuals and much better reel animations, though the Megaways addition can feel a bit like a novelty rather than a true game-changer. It doesn’t dramatically add something that wasn’t already present.
The reels could already expand indefinitely before, with four symbols per reel. Now, each reel can display different symbol counts, but the impact isn’t as dramatic as it often is when a game is rebuilt around Megaways. The mechanics complement each other well enough, yet the overall flow isn’t radically different from earlier entries.
The concern is that after reviewing three Infinity Reels games, it starts to feel like the Infinity Reels concept may be running out of fresh ideas. It’s much less energetic than Megaways and, at times, it even seems to get in the way of the Megaways engine doing what it’s best at.
That said, the behind-the-scenes changes are substantial. Odin Infinity is significantly more volatile than the previous two, and its potential makes them look minor by comparison. Add in the 12 reel jackpot and the fact that max wins now reach 20,000 times the stake now. Odin sacrificed an eye for wisdom, and players may get a taste of that struggle when trying to activate free spins. The upside is there, but it can be a grind—sometimes even a bit repetitive—while waiting for the bigger moments to land.
Overall, it feels like the Infinity Reels franchise is moving forward. Odin is a clear upgrade visually, the theme is executed well, and the potential is massive. It can also be harsh and, at times, repetitive, which makes it a better fit for patient players or harder-edged gamblers.
