Moon Princess: Overview
Moon Princess from Swedish developer Play’n GO takes loose inspiration from the manga-style animation of the same name. It’s a full-on anime celebration packed with pastel colours and charming little details. You won’t see Princess Serenity or Sailor Senshi, yet the action is led by three big-eyed, long-legged heroines, each with her own special power. Expect lots of girl power and gameplay that can feel a bit frantic—especially until it clicks.
Fans of Japanese cartoon aesthetics will feel right at home in Moon Princess. Alongside the straightforward visuals are meters, collection boxes, and multipliers that become clearer once you’ve watched them work for a few spins. On the right side of the screen, the princesses Love, Star, and Storm stand by and cheer as you play. Bets are available from 20 p/c up to $/€100 per spin, and the action takes place on a 5×5 grid that displays 25 symbols on every new spin. Setting the whole extravagance off requires setting stakes available from .
“Pop” is the perfect word here, because whenever three or more matching symbols land (horizontally or vertically), they burst and are collected in the box on the left. The remaining symbols then fall into the empty spaces, potentially creating fresh winning clusters. Adding to this, the centre symbol of any three-symbol win stays on the grid and becomes a wild, helping to generate repeat wins.
Raising the intensity further is a win multiplier that begins at x1 and climbs by +1 with each new drop. It’s tricky to explain purely in text, but this mechanic can produce huge chain reactions of consecutive wins with ever-increasing multipliers. Of course, it won’t always unfold that way, as Moon Princess carries a 10/10 volatility rating, meaning big swings are part of the package. The other key stat is RTP, which defaults to 96.5%, though some casinos may run a lower version—so it’s worth checking before you start.
Open the paytable and prepare for a sparkle storm. The low-paying symbols are various trinkets, including a golden-green charm, a moon star, a heart, and a winged bell. The top-paying symbols are the three princesses, each paying 10 time the stake for a five-of-a-kind. As for the wild, it substitutes for pay symbols and also pays 50 times the stake for five. If wilds are the only symbols left on the grid, they get removed, which helps players work toward triggering the free spins feature.
Moon Princess: Features
Moon Princess is packed with features that crank up the chaos. On any non-winning spin, the Girl Power feature can randomly activate. There are three versions, depending
on which princess is positioned next to the grid at the time:
- Love changes one group of symbols into a different symbol type.
- Star places one or two additional wilds symbols onto the grid.
- Storm clears two groups of symbols from the grid.
Watch the power meter on the left side of the screen. Once it’s full, it activates the Princess Trinity feature. The meter has three segments, and they fill as follows;
- 3 of a kind fills 1 section
- 4 of a kind fills 2 sections.
- 5 of a kind combos fill 3 sections.
After the meter is full and no more wins remain on the grid, one free spin is awarded. During this spin, Love, Star, and Storm each trigger their powers one after another, increasing the chances of landing additional wins.
The primary objective in Moon Princess is to clear the entire grid to activate the main Free Spins feature. When you do, you select either Love for 4 free spins, Star for 5, or Storm for 8 free spins. The selected princess keeps her Girl Power active throughout the feature, and even better, the drop multiplier doesn’t reset between rounds—though it is capped at x20.
The meter still plays a role in free spins as described above, but now it also grants extra free spins when filled. Players receive four extra spins in the Love Princess feature, three in the Star Princess feature, and two in the Storm Princess feature – up to a maximum of 20. The Princess Trinity feature does not apply during free spins; instead, if the grid is cleared, players are awarded an instant 100x their total bet.
Moon Princess: Verdict
There’s a lot happening, so Moon Princess is best understood by playing it to really grasp the flow. All the princess, love, and moon imagery may not be for everyone, but it would be a shame to dismiss it, because Moon Princess is a high-quality slot with excellent design work behind it.
Games like this are about building momentum, and Moon Princess can absolutely hit that stride. Winning clusters fill meters, which lead to modifiers, which lead to free spins, and then even more. When things line up, win chains can keep popping one after another for what feels like ages. Just remember it’s highly volatile, so not every spin will turn into a wild run.
When it does take off, it can get seriously crazy, although the quoted max win potential of 5,000x feels a touch overstated. A more believable ceiling is around half that. Either way, pair that with the punchy math model and you get a game that can win you over even if the theme isn’t your usual pick. Once Moon Princess really gets moving, you may not even know what’s going on—no matter how carefully you’ve read the rules. And that’s fine. It’s a whirlwind of action where the best approach is to relax and enjoy the anime chaos.
Don’t Miss
If Moon Princess hits the spot for you, it’s worth trying the festive edition called Moon Princess Christmas Kingdom or, if you prefer something different, the Egyptian themed Sisters of the Sun version – both offering wins of up to 15,000 times your stake.
