Money Train 2: Overview
The first Money Train slot pulled into the station late in 2019 and turned into a huge success for Relax Gaming. While the base game wasn’t the most thrilling on the market, it delivered a bonus round that could go completely wild. It didn’t take the studio long to build on that momentum with a juiced-up follow-up. Money Train 2 tackles some of the complaints aimed at the original while dialing up almost everything else along the way.
The setting has been enhanced too. Money Train 2 is still rooted in the Wild West, but this time it’s a more futuristic frontier with strong steampunk vibes. The train that houses the 5-reel, 40-payline playfield, for instance, looks like a shaky machine stuffed with gears, pipes, and ducts—like it could come apart in a scorching desert gust. The audio matches the theme as well, helping sell the atmosphere of an abandoned town baking under the desert heat.
You hop aboard by choosing stakes from 20 p/c to $/€20 per spin, and it runs smoothly across devices. The RTP gets a small bump to 96.4%, rising to a hefty 98% when the bonus buy feature is used. As you’d expect, volatility is extremely high, which can mean long quiet stretches in the base game, broken up by sudden bonus-round eruptions where outcomes can swing dramatically.
The symbol set feels familiar but refreshed. Lower-value icons are diamonds, clubs, hearts, and spades, while the premium characters return with a tougher, more Mad Max-style redesign. These include the female payer, the green-backed sniper, a hard-as-nails collector, and the necromancer. Payouts in this tier run from 8 to 20 times the stake. The skull-topped exhaust pipe acts as the wild, carrying the same values as the necromancer. It also substitutes for all symbols on the reels for pay line wins.
Money Train 2: Features
As with the rest of Money Train 2, the feature set keeps the same foundation—just turned up significantly. That said, the base game does introduce a new mechanic that solves two problems at once: it injects excitement into what could feel pretty flat in Part 1, and it softens the frustration of falling just short on scatters for the main attraction.
This is the Respins feature, which activates when 2 scatters land on the reels. Each scatter displays a multiplier; these are added together and then a respin is awarded. Respins keep going until a win lands, with the multiplier increasing by +1 for each non-winning spin. Once a win hits, the built-up multiplier is applied to the total.
The headline feature is the Money Cart Bonus Round, triggered when 3 or more scatter symbols are visible. Darkness sets in and a new grid arrives that can only land special symbols. The bonus begins with 3 spins, and the triggering scatters lock in place, adding their values to a win multiplier of the total bet. Each time a symbol lands during the round, the spins reset to 3 and its value is added to the win multiplier. The round ends when you run out of spins. Multiple symbol types can appear in the bonus—each reveals a value that contributes to the multiplier, and some come with extra effects, as follows:
- Bonus symbol – reveals a value between 1x and 10x.
- Golden bonus symbol – reveals a value between 20x and 200x.
- Payer –adds its value to all other visible symbols.
- Collector – collects all visible values and adds them to its own.
- Collector/Payer – adds the sum of all other visible values to its own. Then it adds the updated value to all other visible symbols.
- Sniper –doubles the value of 3 to 8 other bonus symbols. It can act on the same symbol more than once.
- Necromancer – brings 1 to 6 already used symbols to life again. This could be the Collector, Payer, Collector/Payer, or Sniper.
- Reset Plus – increases the starting value of spins by 1.
- Persistent payer – adds its value to all other symbols on every spin that follows.
- Persistent Sniper – doubles the value of 3 to 8 symbols on every spin that follows.
- Persistent collector – collects all other values and adds them to its own on every spin that follows.
No stress—there won’t be a test on the symbol list later. The key takeaway is that every symbol increases the bet multiplier, and several can also apply powerful modifiers that can rapidly boost the total. One fresh twist is that if a reel becomes completely filled with symbols, an extra reel is opened up, giving additional room for more symbols to land. Up to 2 extra reels can be unlocked.
Finally, where offered, there’s a bonus buy option. Paying 100x the stake triggers the Money Cart Bonus Round on the next spin.
Money Train 2: Verdict
The original Money Train built a reputation for volatility, but Part 2 takes it even further. The respins feature helps balance that somewhat, though you’ll still need plenty of patience. Compared to the first game, the base game feels more engaging thanks to respins showing up fairly often, giving your bankroll (and enthusiasm) a lift. In this setup, a run of dead spins can actually be useful, since it helps stack the multiplier as high as possible.
Even with respins in the mix, the real focus remains the hard-to-hit bonus round. That’s exactly why the buy feature can look very appealing, as it may take a long time to trigger the feature naturally. For instance, during testing it took more than 600 spins to land it for the first time. After a quick, intense Money Cart Bonus Round, the idea of potentially grinding through another long stretch can feel pretty intimidating.
The upside is the payout potential. Part 1 already dangled a strong 20,000x ceiling, but Relax Gaming has more than doubled that in Part 2. Wins of up to 50,000 times your stake are now on the table, although the bet limits were reduced so the maximum payout stays the same. Even more than the original, the Money Cart Bonus can snowball in a seriously dramatic way.
Overall, Relax Gaming delivers what a sequel should. It’s sharper visually, richer in features, and the win potential has been pushed much higher. Yet despite the upgrades, it still feels like Money Train at its core, so fans of the first should slide into Part 2 with ease. The only real warning is how brutal it can be; beyond that, Money Train 2 stands as a very worthy follow-up.
