Money Sleigh: Slot Overview

When the year starts winding down, the weather turns icy, the festive mood kicks in, and slot developers begin unleashing a flurry of Christmas-themed releases packed with candy canes, reindeer, and Santas. Relax Gaming is no stranger to seasonal titles either, with the retro, quaint village vibe of Santa’s Stack being a good example.

This time around, the studio has taken one of its choo-choo style slots (Money Cart 3), peeled off the train exterior like an overexcited kid tearing into a present, and basically dressed the same engine up in festive elf gear. The end product is Money Sleigh—a fitting title that repeatedly whisks players into a take on the well-known Money Cart/Money Train respins feature.

Money Sleigh slot – base game

Rather than a hulking locomotive rolling in at the start, a glittering sleigh glides on-screen to show what it’s offering. In this case, that’s a 5-reel, 4-row setup that flips between a no-reward base game and a hold ‘n win respins round. Theme-wise, it does the job: Money Sleigh adds snowy trees, a cosy-looking home, and a shiny red-nosed reindeer to sell the seasonal atmosphere. It’s difficult to complain about that.

After that, it’s time to choose your stake, with bets ranging from 10 c to $/€100 per base game spin. Money Sleigh doesn’t include a bonus buy option, though once you’ve seen how the mechanics function, it doesn’t feel like a big omission. The other key details are that it’s a highly volatile slot and it comes with a default RTP of 96%.

Money Sleigh: Slot Features

In Money Sleigh, the goal is to hit at least 3 symbols on the grid. Doing so awards 3 respins, while the triggering symbols become locked in the spots where they landed. Special symbols that activate the feature reveal a value and apply their effect before the first respin takes place. Any new symbols that land during respins also lock and reset the spins count to 3. If a whole reel becomes filled with locked symbols, an extra reel is added to the side of the grid. Up to 2 reels can be added in this way. The feature ends once respins run out or the win cap has been hit.

Symbols that appear during respins are either money symbols (also called normal symbols) worth 1 to 10 coins each, or special modifier symbols:

  • Gatherer – collects all values currently visible on the reels and adds them to itself.
  • Gatherer/Giver – chooses 3 to 5 symbols as targets, absorbs their values into itself, then pays out its updated value to each target.
  • Helper – doubles the values of 3 to 8 other symbols. It may affect the same symbol multiple times.
  • Santa – brings back 2 to 7 already used non-persistent special symbols (Gatherer, Gatherer-Giver, Helper, Super Helper, or Super Giver). It can revive the same symbol more than once.
  • Snow Bank – collects all normal symbols and removes them from the reels. Special symbols cannot be banked.
  • Super Helper – selects one random symbol and then doubles its value 2 to 6 times.
  • Super Giver – reveals a coin value of 5 to 100 and targets a random symbol, adding the revealed value to it 3 to 10 times.
  • Eternal Gatherer – gathers all values in view and adds them to itself at the end of that spin and each following spin. It does not collect its own value.
  • Eternal Helper – doubles the values of 3 to 8 other symbols at the end of the current spin and each following spin. It can double the same symbol more than once.
  • Eternal Gatherer-Giver – selects 3 to 5 symbols as targets. At the end of that spin and every spin after, it adds their values to its own and pays the new value to the targets.
  • Eternal Santa – revives 1 to 7 used non-persistent special symbols (Gatherer, Gatherer-Giver, Helper, Super Helper, or Super Giver). It can revive the same symbol more than once.
  • Eternal Mystery – changes into a different special symbol after each spin (Gatherer, Gatherer-Giver, Helper, Super Helper, or Super Giver).

Money Sleigh: Slot Verdict

Money Sleigh and the Money Cart titles are essentially designed to get you into the bonus/respins action faster and more naturally than the standard Money Train games. So, in broad terms, you’ll usually see the respins feature more often than you would in a typical Money Train entry, though there are trade-offs. The main one is that the base game doesn’t really do anything because there are no standard pay symbols and no way to win outside of triggering respins. It’s either blank spins or feature triggers, with nothing in between. That said, it’s not a huge drawback, because respins tend to trigger often enough that the base game feels more like a quick gateway than a slog. It’s also worth noting that the Money Cart series was initially created as a Money Train alternative for UK players, who couldn’t access bonus buys.

As ever, nothing is guaranteed—especially in games with volatility as high as the Money Train/Money Cart style. Another point to be aware of in Money Sleigh, particularly for first-timers, is that it uses a coin system. So instead of showing direct bet multipliers on symbols, you’ll see coin values. Thankfully, the coin value is clearly shown in the top right of the reels. This matters because the promoted 100,000 max win refers to the maximum number of coins you can win, which equals 10,000x the bet —something that often confuses players and can be a bit irritating. It’s smaller than what Money Train 3 can deliver when its win cap gets bulldozed, but it’s still a solid payout.

Swapping out a 100-ton train beast for a plush red-and-gold sleigh means some of Money Cart 3‘s satisfyingly weighty dieselpunk vibe has been exchanged for a holiday makeover. Still, under the festive coating, Money Sleigh remains a fairly hard-hitting game that can really pop when its signature special symbols start firing their modifiers across the reels and stitching everything together.
