Midas King of Gold: Slot Overview
Spend any amount of time playing slots and you’ll eventually run into the legendary King Midas, famous for his golden touch. It’s an obvious fit: turning objects into gold isn’t far removed from pressing a spin button and hoping luck turns up some extra cash—though, as the myth reminds us, Midas’ “gift” quickly became a curse. He couldn’t eat, he turned his daughter into a statue, and he ended up despising what he’d asked for. Take your pick of the moral: be careful what you wish for, don’t let greed run the show, and so on. In any case, today’s title is Midas King of Gold from developer Blueprint Gaming, which revisits a well-worn theme and also feels heavily influenced by Pragmatic Play’s smash hit Gates of Olympus.
And if the legend’s golden touch wasn’t enough, this version of Midas also appears to be the proud owner of some seriously impressive facial hair. He’s positioned beside the reels, casually flipping a coin in a pink, white, and gold palace—assuming that’s where we’re meant to be in Midas King of Gold. To harp on it once more, the resemblance to Gates of Olympus is strong, and with gameplay echoes too, it’s hard to believe the overlap is purely accidental.

The game grid runs on 6 reels and 5 rows, using a scatter-paying system for wins. Put simply, a payout happens whenever 8 or more identical symbols appear anywhere on the grid. This is a highly volatile slot with a chunky top prize and a 94% RTP. Stakes range from 20 c to $/€20, and switching on the Extra Bet increases the chances of getting the bonus while adding a 25% surcharge to the stake.
On the reels, blue, purple, green, and red gems make up the lower-value symbols, followed by a bowl of fruit, a chalice, a crown, a chest of gold, and King Midas as the premium set. Scatter wins for 8-9 matching symbols pay 0.25 to 10 times the stake, while larger hits can climb to 2 to 50 times the bet for a 12+ scatter win. There are no wilds at any point, but several added mechanics help drive the action. Winning scatter groups are cleared via a cascading mechanic, with new symbols dropping in to fill the gaps. Cascades stop once no further win is created.
Midas King of Gold: Slot Features

For a myth-themed scatter-paying slot, it’s no shock that Midas King of Gold works multipliers into the mix. What’s more unusual is how they’re delivered, since the same system can also hand out cash prizes or free spins alongside multiplier rewards.
Midas Touch
Midas Touch may be triggered randomly on any spin when the touching finger symbol lands. When it does, the Midas Touch symbol highlights a neighbouring spot with a gold background. If a winning symbol lands on the marked position, a mini reel spins (once the cascade chain finishes) and reveals a cash prize, free spins, or a multiplier. If a multiplier is awarded, it boosts the win from that spin, provided a win occurs. In the base game, marked positions remain in place until they’re used, and they’re tracked separately for each stake level.
Free Spins
In the base game, hitting 4 scatter symbols awards 15 free spins, while landing 5 scatters grants 20 free spins. During the free spins feature, any positions marked by Midas Touch are persistent for the entire round, continuing to award cash prizes or multiplier values. Scatter wins can be multiplied by up to 500x. If 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters appear during the bonus, then 5, 7, 10, or 15 extra free spins are added.
King of Gold Free Spins
Land 6 scatters in the base game and you’ll receive 15 King of Gold free spins. This mode follows the same rules as standard free spins, except the lowest multiplier that can appear from the Midas Touch mini reels is x10.
Bonus Buy
To jump straight into the free spins feature, players can pay 100x the bet to start the regular free spins round, or 350x the bet to access the King of Gold round.

Midas King of Gold: Slot Verdict
Midas King of Gold is, as expected, a myth-inspired scatter-paying slot—ideal for players who can’t get enough of this style. At first glance, it didn’t exactly scream “must-play,” and the theme can feel as familiar as the original tale itself, where Midas’ early excitement (turning a twig and a stone into gold, supposedly) eventually led to disaster. We all know how that ended.
Still, after giving it a proper run, Midas King of Gold proved a bit less straightforward than it initially seemed. One notable difference versus some rivals is that scatter wins sometimes weren’t the main event, even when Midas Touch mini-reels were handing out multipliers. Some of the more enjoyable moments came from pairing multipliers with cash prizes from the mini-reels, which could be genuinely entertaining. So while it first looked like a GOO follower (and, to a degree, it still is), it does manage to show a touch more individuality than expected.
The max win is also relatively strong for this type of game, sitting at 10,000x the bet. So, for a mythological scatter-paying slot, Midas King of Gold could certainly have been worse. That said, if Blueprint Gaming had leaned into a fresher theme, it might have separated Midas King of Gold further from the competition and allowed its better ideas to stand out even more.
