Midas Golden Touch (Thunderkick): Review
Gather round for a quick myth refresher. In Greek mythology, the tale of Midas is a cautionary story about the ruinous side of greed and what can happen when genuine happiness is taken for granted. As the ruler of the ancient kingdom of Phrygia, King Midas was consumed by a fixation on gold and luxury, devoting much of his life to admiring and counting his riches. One day he made a fateful wish: that everything he touched would become gold. At first, seeing his desire fulfilled filled him with delight—until he tried to embrace his cherished daughter and she was turned into a statue of gold. Horrified by what he’d done, Midas begged the gods to lift the curse.
Thunderkick’s version of the King Midas legend doesn’t really lean into the moral. Instead, it drops us right into the height of his obsession, where he’s determined to transform as many symbols as possible into gold. Built on a classic 5-reel, 3-row layout with fixed 15 paylines, Midas Golden Touch includes a Wild Multiplier feature that can raise payouts by as much as 32x. The real focus is the Free Spins bonus though, where the Sticky Respin feature can deliver divine rewards of up to 10100 times your stake. You can play on desktop or mobile with stakes ranging from 0.10 to 100 Eur per spin.
Visually, Midas Golden Touch looks excellent, as you’d expect from Thunderkick and their consistently strong design work. The action takes place inside a Greek temple, with stone columns and red banners framing the reels. Behind them, rolling green hills and bright blue skies add a calm, easygoing atmosphere. Most of the reel symbols are the 9, 10, J, Q, K and A royals, each embellished with gemstones. Higher-paying icons include chests, goblets and crowns. Sitting at the top is King Midas himself—land 5 across a full payline and you’ll receive 75 times your stake.
The wild is shown as an image of King Midas’s enchanted hands, substituting for every symbol except the scatter. A set of 5 pays the same as the top symbol, but the wild has an extra twist—which brings us neatly to the next part of the review.
Midas Golden Touch (Thunderkick): Features

Midas Golden Touch features a Wild Multiplier mechanic. Any payline containing one or more wild symbols receives a multiplier determined by how many wilds appear in that winning line—1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 wilds apply 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x or 32x respectively, meaning a full wild payline can be worth 2400 times your stake.
The Free Spins bonus starts when 3, 4 or 5 golden gate scatter symbols land at the same time. With the temple now fully gilded, you receive 10, 15 or 20 spins respectively. Once a win occurs, the key mechanic is the Sticky Respin feature. Winning symbols remain locked in place while all other positions respin. The process continues until no new winning symbols lock. On top of that, one random wild is added to the reels at the beginning of every spin.
Midas Golden Touch (Thunderkick): Verdict
Where the previous release, Carnival Queen, pushed Thunderkick a little beyond their usual territory, Midas Golden Touch feels like a return to fundamentals. That’s not a drawback here—this is a straightforward but engaging slot with a clear hook. The huge 10100 times your stake maximum potential keeps the tension high, and the Wild Multiplier feature is a smart addition that can produce big hits even during the base game. Volatility also isn’t extreme, so if you typically play high variance titles, expect something a bit more even-handed.
All in all, Thunderkick has delivered a highly enjoyable slot that’s intentionally simple, yet packed with personality and a playful storyline. It may not convert players who don’t vibe with Thunderkick’s signature style, but for most others, it should be an entertaining ride.
