MexoMax! was a strong release that successfully adapted MultiMax reel multipliers from the 5×3, 243 ways framework of MultiFly! into a bigger, grid-based cluster pays format. MexoMax 2 is an interesting follow-up because it adds more components and increases mechanical complexity, yet it’s less engaging and, overall, less fun. As noted earlier, the setting isn’t as immersive, and the original’s crawling-with-life vibe is toned down. Visuals aren’t everything, but MexoMax 2 doesn’t quite give that same sense that you’re about to carve through the jungle with a machete like the first one did.

From a gameplay perspective, there’s more variety to dig into. In the previous game, avalanches produced only one wild type—the beating heart substituter—and that was the full story. Here, you get the standard wild, the life-stacked WildEnergy Wild, and the multiplier-boosting Extra Multiplier Wild. Both special wilds are solid additions, with the multiplier enhancer being the standout. The non-winning modifiers are also a welcome extra. The Grand Prizes may split opinion. Jackpot-style rewards certainly add a flashy hook for some players, while others may have preferred that slice of RTP to be expressed directly on the reels through the main features. Either way, the Grand Prizes are part of the package.

At its core, MexoMax 2 still delivers the same thrills when the clustering, avalanching, and reel multipliers start chaining, made even punchier by the free spins round’s persistent values. MexoMax 2 also matches MexoMax! for top-end potential at 10,000x the bet. Still, despite the added bells and whistles and an entirely decent test run, it didn’t leave as strong an impression as the original.
