MexoMax!: Slot Overview
As Fred Durst put it in the Gen-X jingle My Generation –’Do you know where you are? Welcome to the jungle…’ It’s a fitting line to usher players into MexoMax!, an online slot its creator bills as a ‘Mayan quest deep into the Aztec jungle‘. MexoMax! joins Yggdrasil’s lineup of MultiMax slots and is the first in the series to run with a cluster pays system for landing wins. Alongside cascades that generate wild symbols, every reel can carry its own multiplier, and when a win uses more than one, those multipliers combine by multiplying together. Put simply, like the earlier titles, MexoMax! can go completely wild when everything lines up. Here’s the rundown.
In terms of earlier entries and close relatives, MexoMax! has a very similar visual style to both Multifly! and Raptor DoubleMax. Players find themselves in a lush outdoor setting packed with exotic blooms and twitchy plant life—and if snakes aren’t your thing, try not to focus on the right side of the screen where one slides through the foliage in what feels like an endless loop. If Yggdrasil aimed for mystery, they’ve nailed it: the vivid artwork does the job, and the soundtrack adds an extra edge of threat to the atmosphere.

Right at the center is the game’s 6-reel, 6-row grid, showing 36 symbols with every fresh drop. Standard spins are priced from 20 p/c to $/€100 each, and there’s also the possibility of switching on the Golden Bet. Golden Bet increases the stake by 25% in exchange for having extra scatter symbols appear on the reels, improving the odds of reaching the bonus. Marketed as a ‘Super High’ volatile game, MexoMax! is available in multiple RTP versions, with 96% as the top setting. At that RTP, wins land at a frequency of 21.28%, paid when five or more matching symbols connect next to each other horizontally or vertically.
Some aspects of Mayan and Aztec history can feel pretty grim by today’s standards, and MexoMax!’s paytable nods to that—especially with the wild, shown as a beating heart that visibly throbs on the reels. Wilds replace any paying symbol and raise the reel multiplier by +1, which we’ll get to shortly. The standard pay symbols are made up of four lower-value stone carvings and four higher-value face-themed icons. Five-of-a-kind returns range from 0.25 to 1.5 times the stake, rising to 4-9.25x the bet for 14+ matching symbols. Finally, the Chest symbol is the wildcard of the set: when Chests land, they can award a cash win, wilds or even free spins.
MexoMax!: Slot Features

MexoMax! is built around a chain-reaction style of play, where one feature can set off another, and those interactions can help push outcomes higher. The first to cover is the Dropdown feature, which clears winning symbols from the grid and allows new (and remaining) symbols to fall into the empty spaces. If the drop creates another win, Dropdown repeats, continuing until no further win is formed.
Wilds and Multipliers
When a Dropdown happens, a wild symbol is placed into a vacant position before the grid refills, and the Reel Multiplier above it increases by +1. These multipliers apply to any later wins that involve that reel, and if a win includes more than one Reel Multiplier, their values are multiplied together. Multipliers reset after each paid spin.
Free Spins
Hitting 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols in the base game grants 7, 9, or 11 free spins, respectively. The free spins don’t begin immediately; instead, players can gamble on a wheel to try to boost the total—win the gamble and you can increase the number, fail and you lose the lot (up to 18 free spins). In the free spins round, Reel Multipliers stay in place and do not reset until the feature finishes. For those who’d rather purchase entry (where available), free spins cost 75x the bet for at least 3 scatters to land or 125x the bet for 5 scatters (11 free spins).

MexoMax!: Slot Verdict
So far, MultiMax slots haven’t exactly been rolling off the line in huge numbers, but when they do show up, they’re usually worth the wait. Multifly! kicked things off in early 2020, and partner studio Bulletproof Games took a turn with the format in Crystal Falls MultiMax, which had plenty going for it but was held back by a couple of constraints. Raptor DoubleMax, meanwhile, feels like the bigger, more experienced relative that’s figured out how to make the most of the concept. Both Multifly! and Raptor DoubleMax were dependable releases with serious multiplier potential—and MexoMax! can deliver that same kind of multiplicative punch when its jungle machinery starts clicking.
It almost goes without saying: the heart of MexoMax! is the way Reel Multipliers can multiply each other. That said, it won’t happen every time, but it was striking how a bonus could drift through a handful of weak spins, then suddenly build a set of Reel Multipliers and finally bring them together for a solid return. In testing, single Reel Multipliers didn’t often climb to extreme levels, yet the real strength is in combining them, where the overall impact can be unexpectedly strong. MexoMax! also doesn’t have quite the same steady multiplier progression that Raptor DoubleMax offers, and the max win reflects that difference. While the dinosaur title could hit 20,000x the bet, MexoMax! tops out at a lower—but still very appealing—10,000 times the stake.
It’s slightly odd that over two years separated Multifly! and MexoMax!, with Crystal Falls Multimax sitting between them. You’d expect such a powerful mechanic in Yggdrasil’s toolkit to appear more frequently. Still, the dry spell is over, and the payoff is a hard-hitting Mayan/Aztec-themed slot that once again shows just how thrilling stacked multipliers can be.
