Mafia Clash: Slot Overview

Hacksaw Gaming’s partner in crime—well, partner in slot-making—Bullshark Games heads into Cosa Nostra territory with Mafia Clash. This lead-slinging, crime-soaked machine pits three rival gangs against each other in a fight for street control and “untold riches”. They’re the sort who live by “the end justifies the means” as a daily rule. The gang warfare isn’t just window dressing either, as it sets up a Shootout feature where surviving wilds boost wins with multipliers, before the action peaks in a Hideout free spins round. Whether you want to kiss the don’s ring or try taking his chair, read on.

“Dimly lit” pretty much sums up Mafia Clash at every stage. The base game plays out in a filthy warehouse packed with crates, then shifts to free spins inside a Don Corleone-style lounge/office. You’d think with all the cash these crooks supposedly pull in, they could spring for better lighting. Still, the dark, grimy look fits the theme far better than anything bright and cheerful. A threatening soundtrack does its part, while the rest of the audio is dominated by gunfire—especially during the fast, rattling win count-up. Beyond that, it’s clear Mafia Clash comes out swinging.

Mafia Clash slot – base game

With four out of five bullets highlighted, Mafia Clash comes across as a medium-high volatile slot, offering a default RTP of 96.35%. Gameplay uses a 5-reel, 4-row layout in both the base game and free spins, with 20 paylines to form winning lines on. Stakes run from 10 c to $/€100 per paid spin, and there are two bonus buy options for anyone who doesn’t want to keep loitering in that gloomy warehouse.

Across Mafia Clash’s paylines, wins can land as 3 to 5-of-a-kind combinations starting from the leftmost reel. The 10 to A card ranks are the low-value symbols, paying 0.5x the bet for a 5-of-a-kind, while 1.2 to 2 times the bet is on offer for hitting 5 handcuffs, bottles, pistols, a bag of cash, and an automobile. Not exactly top-tier payouts, though the game’s features can soon bring multipliers into the mix. Wilds also show up on every reel, substituting for any standard paying symbol. That helps, and a line of 5 wilds returns 10 times the bet. Wilds can also appear with 3 different characters on them, each tied to one of the 3 gangs.

Mafia Clash: Slot Features

Mafia Clash introduces its multiplier potential through the Shootout feature, alongside free spins and two bonus buy options.

Shootout

Dropping 2 or more rival gang wilds activates the Shootout feature. The three types of wilds are Thugs, Triad, and Wise guys. Once Shootout kicks in, the wilds reveal a multiplier and the shooting starts. The wilds which survive apply their multipliers to a Global multiplier, which is then applied to any wins from that spin. Additive multiplier values can be x2 to x100, while the multiplicative multiplier values are x2 to x10.

Hideout Free Spins

Landing 3, 4, or 5 FS scatters in the base game grants 6, 8, or 12 free spins, respectively. In the free spins round, players have a better chance of triggering the Shootout feature.

Bonus Buy

Mafia Clash includes two bonuses that players can purchase—both classed as very highly volatile. One is a standard 6, 8, or 12 free spins trigger for 100x the bet (RTP 96.31%), while the other provides 8 or 12 free spins for 200x the bet with improved odds of triggering the Shootout (RTP 96.33%).

Mafia Clash: Slot Verdict

With Mafia Clash, Bullshark Games has delivered a perfectly serviceable slot, though not one that feels especially standout. There are a few intriguing concepts here, yet something still seemed slightly missing. Perhaps an extra feature, or a change to how the Shootout works in free spins, rather than simply having a theoretical increase in trigger frequency. Honestly, and not to be harsh, it wouldn’t take much to make Shootout feel more common, since it didn’t activate all that often in the base game.

Mafia Clash is also a slot where the more bullets flying, the better, and the base game can feel worryingly short on them, as the Shootout feature didn’t deliver loads of multipliers during that part of play. Instead, the base game often moved at a crawl—like watching water spiral down a sink, circling the drain until it disappears. There were moments where the balance climbed again, and Shootout could help with that. On rare occasions, landing a cluster of non-multiplying wilds could do a job as well. Still, it felt like there was a lot of hanging around for something big to finally kick off, even more than you’d normally expect.

Still, every dog has its day, and Mafia Clash does have some hefty multiplying/additive multiplier potential plus a max win of 10,000x the bet, so the right run could really ignite things. It just didn’t happen during the test session, which instead felt like watching the numbers steadily slide downwards, like a protection racket turned up to maximum pressure. No doubt Mafia Cash can swing the other way and end up in profit, but after taking a beating for a while, the motivation to wait for that turnaround gradually disappeared.
