It’s sometimes tempting to write off Red Tiger’s flashy slots before properly trying them, which can overlook just how sharp some of them look in motion. Lion’s Hoard starts strong the instant it loads, with the grid rising out of a sea of gold coins, layered in more gold slabs, backed by satisfyingly heavy booming audio. Without getting too carried away by the theme, the sheer “weight” of all that gold definitely set the tone for what we wanted to see next.

Lion’s Hoard can deliver some very enjoyable play thanks to the amount of combined multiplier potential available, although it didn’t produce many truly legendary moments during the review. The deliberately placed non-Diamond Reel in the center does a great job of stopping the game from completely running wild. Not every time, of course—Diamond Reels can still link up for solid wins, and the fact that Mystery Stones remain until they’re used is a nice design choice.

Turning small line hits into something huge requires several separate elements to line up, but working through that build-up is entertaining. If everything falls into place and the features perform as intended, wins up to 8,160 times the stake are technically achievable. With a theoretical full screen of crowns paying only 100x the bet, players will need serious multiplier-on-multiplier action to get anywhere near the top payout.
