Links of Ra 2: Slot Overview

Games Global pals Slingshot Studios released Links of Ra in late 2021, and it leaned heavily on the underlying framework of its Game of Thrones Power Stacks slot. That approach let the studio recycle proven mechanics and, arguably, introduce them to a wider casino crowd—one more into Ancient Egyptian slots than the more niche Song of Fire and Ice universe. It likely also allowed online casinos to serve up similar gameplay without the extra expense of branded slot licensing. That decision clearly paid off, as the team has built on the original with Links of Ra 2, a closely related sequel that comes with a broader feature set.

The shiny, high-polish look of Links of Ra makes a return in Links of Ra 2, and it’s just as glossy as before. The background scenery has been rearranged, yet it still offers Egypt fans plenty of pyramids and palm trees to take in. You’re essentially hovering above a Giza Plateau-style vista, with the sun blazing over a reconstructed landscape that genuinely looks attractive. It’s a familiar setting, sure, but it’s executed nicely.

Framed with gold edging, the Links of Ra 2 reel window uses 5 reels with 4 symbols per reel and runs on 40 paylines to determine payouts. Stakes range from 20 c to $/€25, and there’s an extensive menu of feature buy options so players can choose what they want to jump into. Built on a highly volatile model, the default RTP (there are several models) is 96.05%, and the hit rate stays at 34.1% across all versions.

On the symbol front, there are 4 crisply designed card ranks as the low pays, followed by what appear to be Khnum, Sobek, Bastet, Anubis, and Horus as the premium icons. Hitting five low pays on a payline returns 1.8 to 2 times the bet, while five high pays award 2.5 to 8 times the bet. Five wilds pay 10 times the bet, and wilds also substitute for any standard pay symbol to complete winning lines.

Links of Ra 2: Slot Features

The feature lineup in Links of Ra 2 is very familiar, featuring Power Stacks, multiple ULTRA Link&Win options, a Collection Pot, free spins, and bonus buys.

Power Stacks

All regular symbols (excluding scatters or wilds) can appear as Power Stacked in the base game on any reel. In free spins, Power Stacking is limited to wilds and Coin symbols only.

ULTRA Link&Win Feature

Hitting 6 or more Coin symbols activates this feature. You receive 3 respins, and the Coins that triggered the bonus remain locked while the other spots continue to spin. Any extra Coins that land will lock in too and reset the respins back to 3. The feature ends when the respins run out, the max win is reached, or the grid is completely filled. ULTRA Link&Win can trigger in the base game or during free spins.

Ultra Link&Win Feature Modes

Landing 4 or 5 Coins in the base game or free spins increases the ULTRA Link&Win meter. If you trigger the ULTRA Link&Win feature with the meter filled to the appropriate tier, the round plays in Max Mode, Multiplier Mode, or Collect Mode.

  • Max Mode ULTRA Link&Win – the feature begins with 3 extra active rows.
  • Multiplier Mode ULTRA Link&Win – the feature begins with 3 extra active rows and guarantees a Persistent 2x Multiplier Booster Coin landing.
  • Collect Mode ULTRA Link&Win – the feature begins with 3 extra active rows and guarantees a Persistent Cash Collect Booster Coin landing.

ULTRA Link&Win Booster Coins

During ULTRA Link&Win, special Booster Coins may appear to enhance the round. They are:

  • Persistent Cash Collect Booster Coin – gathers the combined value of all Cash Collect Booster Coins and Cash Coins into a total amount on every spin.
  • Cash Collect Booster Coin – collects the total of any previously landed Persistent Cash Collect Booster Coins and Cash Coins into a single cash value.
  • Persistent 2x Multiplier Booster Coin – randomly doubles up to 4 Cash Coins on each spin.
  • 2x Multiplier Booster Coin – randomly doubles up to 4 Cash Coins.
  • Unlock Booster Coin – 1 of these opens 1 extra row. Up to 3 extra rows can be activated.
  • Extra Chance Booster Coin – 1 of these grants 1 free respin.
  • Prize Coins – each Mini, Minor, Major, or Grand Coin decreases its countdown once per spin. Any that finish counting down award their corresponding prize at the end of the ULTRA Link&Win feature. The Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand pay 15x, 50x, 500x or 5,000x the bet, respectively.
  • Cash Coins – carry values from 0.5x to 12x the bet.

Collection Pot Feature

In the base game, landing an Eye of Ra Coin symbol on the rightmost reel grows the Collection Pot and can randomly triggers this feature. Spin the wheel to win one of the Mini, Minor, Major, or Grand prizes.

Free Spins

Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters awards 10 free spins plus an extra prize of 1x, 10x, or 100x the bet, respectively. In the free spins round, wild or Coin symbols are Power Stacked on each spin.

Buy Feature

Using the buy feature, players can purchase the ULTRA Link&Win for 40x the bet, the Max Mode ULTRA Link&Win for 80x the bet, the Multiplier Mode ULTRA Link&Win for 110x the bet, or the Collect Mode ULTRA Link&Win for 165x the bet.

Links of Ra 2: Slot Verdict

Games Global studios clearly enjoy producing Link&Win slots, and Slingshot is among the better teams at delivering them. They may not be the absolute top tier of hold ‘n win design, but they’re undeniably popular—and since Links of Ra reportedly reached award-winning status (per the game documentation), a sequel was always likely. The notable part is that, while the GG group is skilled at this style, the results don’t often feel truly standout. Links of Ra 2 fits that pattern. It brings a few clever touches, including special symbols that can meaningfully enhance an ULTRA Link&Win round, yet it still doesn’t spark the same excitement as titles like Cash Trucks or Money Trains. That may be down to the theme: broad appeal, yes, but also famously overused. It isn’t handled in a dull way here; it’s more a case of “another Ancient Egypt slot, again.”

Even so, Links of Ra 2 looks as polished as the original and shares mechanical similarities with Loot Boost and Spinny McWinnagin Loot Boost. The core play is at least on par with the first game, and arguably improved thanks to the added extras that can change the flow. Oddly, though, Links of Ra 2 is theoretically less capable of big swings than the earlier Links of Ra, because the win potential is capped at 10,000x versus 25,000x in part one or the Game of Thrones version (and we still haven’t seen evidence of the stated ceiling). That’s a sizeable drop, and it’s unusual, as sequels typically push the maximum higher.

That’s Links of Ra 2: a solidly produced option if Link&Win gameplay in an Ancient Egyptian theme is your thing. It doesn’t offer anything truly groundbreaking in any area, but as a reliable Egyptian hold ‘n win, Links of Ra 2 does what it sets out to do.
