Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig: Slot Overview
While it hasn’t exactly dominated the fishing corner of online casinos, developer Play’n GO has taken several shots at it with the Boat Bonanza series. The team seems to have stepped away from the rods for a moment, but the idea of reeling in rewards clearly remained. The middle ground is Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig, which is effectively a reskin of Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch—a slot that wasn’t truly “colossal,” yet still gave fish-slot fans another way to scratch the itch. The real question is whether these mechanics feel more at home with fishing or with leprechauns.
Mining and fishing aren’t exactly close cousins, but both involve putting in the work, getting stuck in, and extracting valuables from nature. That said, there’s nothing grimy about Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig. The mine setting looks pleasant, complete with a flowing waterfall, and gemstones visibly jutting from the earth. Even so, nothing about Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig screams standout originality at first glance—it’s pretty much what you’d expect from a modest leprechaun-and-mine themed slot. Still, there are shamrocks everywhere, leprechauns pop up in carts, and a jaunty soundtrack keeps things upbeat.

To take part in the dig, players can set their wager from 10c min up to a max of $/€50 per spin. Deep in the mine shaft sits a medium volatile math model, and among the five RTP options, 96.2% is the best available figure. Hit spin and a 5×4 grid gets rolling, forming wins via 12 paylines, all paying from the leftmost reel.
When 5 OAK wins land, the 10 to A card symbols pay 10 times their stake, while wheels, picks, lanterns, and hats return between 50x to 200x. Diamonds act as money symbols, though they also create line wins, paying up to 40x the bet. As with its nautical counterpart, Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig includes no wild symbols.
Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig: Slot Features

Rather than boats scooping up fish money symbols, minecarts gather Diamonds through the Reel Blast or the Mega Blast events. Break into the free spins bonus, and Diamond collection wins can have a multiplier applied of up to x25.
Minecart Collection
Positioned above the reels are two mine carts. On any spin, a leprechaun can pop out of the carts to make them lucky (activate them). It’s possible for both mine carts to become lucky on the same spin and trigger either Reel Blast or Mega Blast, based on where they end up and whether there are Diamond symbols available to collect. Diamond symbols can land on any reel and carry prize values of 1x to 50x the bet.
- Reel Blast – when one Lucky Minecart is above a reel, it collects all Diamond symbols on the reel beneath it.
- Mega Blast – when both Lucky Minecarts are above the same reel, all Diamond symbols on the grid are collected.
Free Spins
Hitting 3, 4, or 5 scatters in the base game awards 10 free spins. When 4 or 5 scatters appear, players also receive a payout of 20x or 100x, respectively. During free spins, both minecarts are lucky on every free spin, meaning they can always activate Reel Blast or Mega Blast. Lucky Clover symbols can show up in free spins and may be collected by Lucky Minecarts. Once collected, a Lucky Clover symbol increases the Mega Blast Multiplier Meter above the reels. When the meter reaches the required level, a multiplier is applied to all Diamond symbol wins during Mega Blast, and free spins are awarded. Collecting 3, 6, 9, or 12 Lucky Clovers grants an x2 multiplier and +8 spins, an x5 multiplier and +6 spins, an x10 multiplier and +4 spins, or an x25 multiplier and +2 spins, respectively.

Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig: Slot Verdict
Leprechauns, mining, and a touch of fishing—three widely used (some would say overused) slot themes—are bundled together here in one package. For some players that combination will sound appealing, while for others it may be an instant turn-off. Either way, it’s hard to deny that Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig is short on originality. First, because it’s a reskin of Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch, and second, because swapping the open sea for a leprechaun mine doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel. It feels like a gathering of familiar ideas, with little in the way of fresh creative spark.
Complaints aside, Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig was fine to go through—certainly not awful, but also not particularly memorable. Anyone who has played the boat version won’t find much that’s new here. Then again, Boat Bonanza Colossal Catch wasn’t especially unique either, mixing in aspects of Big Time Gaming’s Golden Catch alongside the Big Bass Bonanza style. That influence shows up most clearly in free spins, where symbols can be collected—here, Clover symbols—to unlock extra spins and multipliers. Still, it’s all presented in a bright, cheerful way if this is your kind of slot.
As with Colossal Catch, calling the top prize “colossal” is a stretch when the max win in Leprechaun’s Diamond Dig is capped at 3,000 times the bet. Overall, it’s a little surprising to see a developer with Play’n GO’s skill and history leaning on something so lacking in unique ideas, though considering the studio’s recent output, it’s not exactly shocking either.
