Le Viking: Slot Overview
Hacksaw Gaming’s time-hopping raccoon, “Smokey,” returns in Le Viking, the third installment in the studio’s “Le” series. After tearing through the Wild West in Le Bandit (2023) and digging up ancient Egyptian riches in Le Pharaoh (2024) — which secured the runner-up position in the 2024 Bigwinboard Awards — the raccoon now drops into the Viking era. Sporting a helmet, a battle-ready stance, and that familiar cheeky grin, he’s set to plunder the seas with the help of Raid Spins, Grid Multipliers, and the Bonus Bonanza.
Presentation-wise, it sticks to Hacksaw’s recognizable cartoon style, pairing bold color with a tidy, readable layout. The reels sit in front of a coastal Viking settlement, featuring a moored longship and weathered huts that give off a warm Norse atmosphere. To the right of the grid, Smokey shows up in full Viking attire, clearly up to no good as he happily belts out his trademark “Bonjour!”. The lively Viking music rounds it out, blending traditional sounds with an energetic beat that keeps the action moving.

Le Viking runs on a 6×5 grid with 15,625 paylines, where a win needs at least three matching symbols on neighboring reels, starting from the far left. In line with the earlier titles, it delivers a medium volatility ride and a default RTP of 96.32% — though operators may offer lower RTP setups. The stake range is the familiar €/$0.10 to €/$100, so it’s standard on that front.
A look at the paytable shows a fitting mix of themed icons. At the low end, 10 to Ace card ranks pay between 0.10x to 0.70x the bet for six-of-a-kind. The premium symbols lean into Viking gear and legend — crossbows, helmets, axes, swords, and hammers — and they pay more meaningfully, beginning at 0.30x for combinations and reaching 3x the bet for a full line of six hammers.
Le Viking: Slot Features

Le Viking brings a hefty set of extras, ranging from the Raid Spins Respin mode to multiple free spins variants: Berserk Free Spins, Valkyrie Free Spins, Ragnarök Free Spins, and the Journey to Valhalla Free Spins. If you’d rather jump straight in, four feature buy choices are also available. Below is a breakdown of what each option adds to the fight.
Raid Spins Respin Mode
Hitting 6 coins of any type in the base game starts the Raid Spins feature. This respin mode provides 3 refilling lives and includes only dead symbols, coins, diamonds and clover symbols. Throughout the feature, all symbols are sticky, and every respin consumes 1 life — landing any symbol other than a dead symbol resets the counter back to 3. When the round ends, all coins and diamonds on the grid reveal a random cash value based on symbol type: Bronze Coins: reveal multipliers of 0.2x – 4x the bet; Silver Coins: reveal multipliers of 5x – 20x the bet; Gold Coins: reveal multipliers of 25x to 100x the bet; Diamonds: reveal higher multipliers of 150x to 500x the bet.
Once every coin and diamond has revealed, any clover symbols left on the grid will activate. There are 2 types of clover symbols: green clover and gold clover:
- Green Clover symbols multiply coins and diamonds on adjacent squares with values between x2 and x20.
- Gold clover symbols multiply all coins and diamonds on the grid with values between x2 and x20.
Berserk Free Spins
Landing 3 FS scatter symbols at the same time in the base game activates this feature with 3 refilling lives. During the round, the following symbols can appear: dead symbols, Coins, Diamonds, Green and Gold Clovers, Heart symbols, and Magic Cauldron symbols. When the bonus begins, the scatter positions that triggered it receive Grid Multipliers worth x2. These multipliers are sticky and stay for the entire feature. On top of that, all Coins, Diamonds, and Clover symbols that land become sticky, remaining in place until they’re collected by a Magic Cauldron symbol or the bonus ends.
When a Magic Cauldron symbol lands, every Grid Multiplier and Clover symbol within its area of effect is activated, applying their multipliers to any Coins, Diamonds, or earlier Magic Cauldrons in range. Clover symbols behave exactly as they do in Raid Spins, using the same multiplier values and impacting any adjacent Coins, Diamonds, or Magic Cauldron symbols. The Grid Multipliers boost any Coins or Diamonds that sit in their respective grid spots.
Next, all Coins, Diamonds, and previous Magic Cauldron symbols are collected into the newest Magic Cauldron, which remains on the grid until it is collected or the feature ends. Each Magic Cauldron symbol can only collect once. In the bonus game, each spin consumes 1 life. If any symbol other than a dead symbol lands, lives are refilled to 3. Landing a Heart symbol raises the life count by +1, up to a maximum of 5 lives. When the feature finishes, all Coins and Diamonds still on the grid reveal a random cash value by type, as described in the Raid Spins section.
Valkyrie Free Spins
Triggered by landing 4 FS scatter symbols, this bonus begins with 3 refilling lives. It keeps the Berserk Free Spins rules, but starts with 4 Grid Multipliers, each set to x3 multipliers.
Ragnarök Free Spins
Activated by landing 5 FS scatter symbols, this mode also opens with 3 refilling lives. It develops the Berserk and Valkyrie Free Spins setup by starting with 5 Grid Multipliers, each at x5 multipliers.
Journey to Valhalla Free Spins
The top-tier bonus, triggered by landing 6 FS scatter symbols, also provides 3 refilling lives. It advances the earlier free spins modes by beginning with 6 Grid Multipliers, each at x10 multipliers. On top of that, Bronze and Silver Coins are removed from the grid.
Feature Buy
Pressing the buy bonus button shows these choices: Bonushunt Featurespins (3x the bet) – each spin is 5 times more likely to trigger the bonus game; Raider Featurespins (30x the bet) – enter the raid spins mode with 3 refilling lives and sticky coins. FS symbols cannot land in this game mode; Berserk Free Spins (100x the bet) – 3 lives and 3 grid multipliers with x2; Ragnarök Free Spins (200x the bet) – 3 lives and 5 grid multipliers with x5.

Le Viking: Slot Verdict
Le Viking carves out its place in the “Le” series, showing that Hacksaw Gaming’s troublemaking raccoon still has new eras to loot. With 10,000x max win potential, it steps down from the 15,000x found in Le Pharaoh, but it feels more like a fine-tune than a negative. In practice, that could translate into a max win that’s a bit more within reach — a compromise plenty of players may welcome.
In terms of style, Le Viking hits the mark with its Norse-flavored cartoon look. Smokey, the oddball time traveler, somehow fits right in while shouting “Bonjour!” in a Viking helmet, even if the idea of a French-speaking raccoon in medieval Scandinavia makes little sense. Still, that’s the point: it’s a bright, playful world where swords, hammers, and crossbows bounce across a grid to a punchy Viking tune. It’s loud, colorful, and very much in line with what the series does best.
Gameplay-wise, Le Viking is more involved than Le Bandit, which remains the simplest — and for many, the most loved — entry. Between Raid Spins, Berserk Free Spins, and the top-end Journey to Valhalla, there are more moving parts here, and it can take a moment to fully click. Whether that added depth is a plus or whether some will miss Le Bandit’s straightforward approach is up for debate, but the layered design does create a stronger sense of build-up.
Overall, Le Viking stands as another solid chapter in the “Le” series, adding enough fresh ideas to stay engaging while keeping the core identity intact. It’s energetic, feature-heavy, and busy in a way that should hold attention even for more seasoned players. Whether you’re chasing the features or simply here to watch a raccoon yell “Bonjour!” while swinging an axe, Le Viking gets the job done — just don’t expect it to redefine the genre, or the longship.
