Itero: Slot Overview
To riff on Nietzsche, consider this: if you were given the opportunity to relive your life endlessly, exactly as it happened, right down to the tiniest detail, would you see it as a gift or a punishment? One reading suggests that saying yes means you’ve accepted everything—good, bad, and ugly—and truly owned it. As the German philosopher put it, ‘how well disposed would you have to become to yourself and to life to crave nothing more fervently than this ultimate eternal confirmation and seal?‘ Developer Hacksaw Gaming may have been turning over a similar idea when creating Itero, a slot built around revisiting what’s already happened via a fresh mechanic called EchoSpins – available in the base game and across two bonus rounds.
Itero, a Latin term meaning ‘to repeat’, definitely arrives with a philosophical tone. It shares a dark colour scheme with Hand of Anubis, yet the atmosphere is nothing like that game’s weighty Egyptian afterlife feel. Instead, Itero is more reflective, set in a grey-and-black classical world, backed by a flowing piano-driven soundtrack that wouldn’t feel out of place under a montage of modern life. Leaning into Roman imagery, statues feature as symbols on its 5×4 game grid, while sharp neon accents are scattered throughout to lift what could otherwise have been an overly bleak presentation.
On to the stats, starting with RTP, which is configurable and tops out at 96.18% in regular mode. If you have access to bonus buys, that number changes, as explained further down. As is typical for Hacksaw, volatility is high, with the studio scoring it 5 out of 5—so expect sessions that swing hard in either direction.
With stakes from 10 p/c to $/€100 per spin, the game has a hit rate of 29.38%, and wins land when matching symbols connect left to right from the rightmost side across any of the 20 paylines. The low-paying symbols are 10-A in Roman-style lettering, paying 1-2x the bet for five of a kind, while the premium symbols are busts, paying 4-10x the stake for a five-symbol line. Three-headed dog wilds can appear on any reel to replace regular symbols, and five wilds on a payline return 10x the bet.
Itero: Slot Features
Itero debuts a new respin concept from Hacksaw called EchoSpins. It can activate in the base game or within either bonus round, titled Wrath of Jupiter and Gift from the Gods.
EchoSpins
EchoSpins are a type of respin in which the original triggering spin is repeated. They are awarded when a Hand of Jupiter symbol lands at the same time as at least one winning payline. The Hand of Jupiter symbol reveals a number from 1 to 8, which is the number of EchoSpins won. There’s a key extra layer: 2 types of Multiplier symbols can also land. These include Additive Multipliers of x2, x3, x4, x5, or x10, and Multiplicative Multipliers of x2 or x3. If EchoSpins trigger while multiplier symbols are visible, they are collected by a global win multiplier that applies to the total line wins. This collection also happens again on every EchoSpin. For instance, if 2 EchoSpins are awarded with an x2 and x5 Additive Multiplier in view, the first respin win is multiplied by x7, and the second respin win by x14. Multipliers only affect wins that occur during EchoSpins.
Wrath of Jupiter
This bonus is triggered when exactly 3 scatter symbols appear. During the feature, there is a higher chance of hitting Hand of Jupiter symbols, improving the odds of more EchoSpins and stronger multipliers. The win multiplier resets once an EchoSpins sequence finishes.
Gift from the Gods
Unlocked when 4 scatter symbols land, this bonus allows any multiplier symbol that appears to be saved by the total win multiplier. The next time EchoSpins activate, the stored multiplier is applied to the repeated wins. When an EchoSpins sequence ends, the win multiplier resets.
Buy Bonus
If the Buy Bonus option is available, players can purchase the highly volatile Wrath of Jupiter for 129x the bet (RTP 96.2%) or pay 200x the bet for the very highly volatile Gift from the Gods (RTP 96.25%).
Itero: Slot Verdict
From the title to its use of classical-era cultural imagery, Itero delivers something genuinely distinctive. Plenty of slots aim for a straightforward adrenaline hit; Itero also nudges the mind. There’s an unusually highbrow streak here, raising ideas most games never touch, while still being able to generate tense, edge-of-your-seat swings. Credit to Hacksaw once again—they’re exploring territory others aren’t. It’s striking to compare their path from earlier releases like Om Nom, a light handheld-style game about junk food, to Itero: a Latin-named slot that plays with time and repetition in a philosophical frame. The studio’s imagination and willingness to range across themes feels like a welcome counterweight in a market that often leans on safe, recycled concepts.
Just as notable is Hacksaw’s knack for introducing fresh mechanics, and EchoSpins is another compelling addition—similar in spirit to 4ThePLayer’s 10x Rewind, though executed differently. As with many Hacksaw ideas, EchoSpins can be extremely volatile. One of our early encounters with the mechanic produced around four nicely multiplied respins, which made for a strong first impression. Results can vary massively, though, from repeated 0.1x wins with no multiplier to heavily stacked multiplier situations. Bringing it back to Nietzsche’s thought experiment, great EchoSpins are the kind you’d happily relive; tiny ones, not so much. Still, there’s something very satisfying about landing several EchoSpins with a couple of multiplier symbols on screen, knowing each repeated win should ramp higher and higher. EchoSpins didn’t seem especially frequent in the base game, so bonus buys may prove tempting. We also saw a Gift from the Gods round that built a multiplier throughout but never dropped any Hand of Jupiter symbols to actually use it—so proceed with caution. When everything lines up, though, Itero can deliver wins of up to 10,000 times the base bet.
Itero isn’t a light, easygoing slot you load up just to feel upbeat. It’s more layered than that, and getting the most from it may require a bit more engagement from the player. But like working through a philosophical puzzle, if you can push through a virtual ‘dark night of the soul’ and come out on top, Itero can be intensely exciting—entertaining in a way that’s very much its own.
