Imperial Opera Introduction
Imperial Opera is a 5-reel video slot, running on 20 fixed paylines, set inside a lavish Asian-inspired opera house.
The Princess symbol acts as the Wild and replaces any other reel symbol (except the Scatter symbol) to help form winning combinations. There are 4 premium symbols represented by different characters, plus 5 lower-value symbols shown as A, K, Q, J and 10.
The game is supplied to casinos with a default RTP of 96.5%, though this may vary, so it’s always worth checking the help file to confirm the RTP you’re playing. The max win is 2500 times the bet and the game sits on the higher end of the volatility scale.
Imperial Opera Features
The Showcase feature can trigger on any spin. One random symbol (excluding the Scatter symbol) is selected, and a stack of that symbol is added to the reels to improve the chances of landing winning combinations. When features are active, all character symbols can appear as Mega Symbols on the reels.
The Harmony feature is a random trigger. It will select either 2 or 3 adjacent reels at random, and those reels will spin showing identical symbols. The feature is not active in Free Spins.
The Crescendo feature is a random trigger. It chooses either 1 or 2 reels anywhere in the game area at random, and each chosen reel becomes fully covered in Wild symbols. The feature is not active in Free Spins.
Imperial Opera Free Spins
The Scatter symbol is a large 3×3 symbol that spans three adjacent reels, and it can only be seen anywhere on the reels when the Harmony feature has selected 3 reels to be synchronised. If the Scatter lands fully visible on the reels, the Free Spin feature starts and 10 initial free spins are awarded. During Free Spins, hitting the Scatter will add another 10 free spins, repeating until the maximum win is reached!
Before the Free Spins feature starts, reels 2, 3 and 4 are locked and will synchronise so they always spin with the same symbols. Mega Symbols can appear on these three reels. The Showcase feature remains active.
Imperial Opera will be available on March 7 across all Play’n GO casinos such as Highroller, Guts and Betspin.
Conclusion
Imperial Opera feels like a fairly standard Play’n GO release. It doesn’t bring much that’s fresh or particularly inventive, and it comes across more like a rework of other PnG slots. The max win potential also isn’t especially impressive, to be honest. Overall, it gives off a bit of a blend of Book of Dead and the recently released Planet Fortune, which also features synchronized reels.
That said, it’s not a bad game, and a 2500x potential isn’t awful. Still, we don’t expect it to create major buzz or strong interest, and it may end up being overshadowed by the stronger titles Play’n GO has released.
