Ice and Fire (Dreamtech Gaming): Overview
Ice and Fire is a fantasy-themed slot driven by Yggdrasil Gaming and marks the first Dreamtech Gaming release to arrive on the Yggdrasil platform. Dreamtech Gaming, owned by Nebula Gaming, is a Malta-based company licensed by the MGA. The studio has Asian roots, was founded in 2017, and is the newest independent developer to join Yggdrasil’s YGS Masters program. Dreamtech describes itself as multicultural, although much of its portfolio leans heavily into an Asian/Anime aesthetic with a noticeable Final Fantasy vibe. Previously more focused on the Asian market, this collaboration with Yggdrasil could easily become Dreamtech’s launchpad into the European slots space.
Ice and Fire shouldn’t be mistaken for A Song of Ice and Fire by G.R.R. Martin. They’re entirely separate, even if the parallels are easy to spot. Both include dragons, dragon eggs, and Khalessi-like heroines. And it’s also worth not mixing this Ice and Fire up with an earlier version available on the Dreamtech website. Visually they’re close, but the Yggdrasil partnership has refined the UI and improved the animation. What both versions share is a layout featuring two 5×5 grids positioned side by side. It’s not completely unprecedented—NextGen Gaming used a comparable dual format in Foxin Twins—but it remains an uncommon approach. Each reel set carries 60 paylines, for a combined total of 120 paylines. The left side represents the icy realm, while the right side belongs to the fire kingdom. Each land is ruled by its own queen, both sporting the familiar chesty, doe-eyed ‘babe’ style seen across other Dreamtech titles.
Players adjust the coin value, which is then multiplied by 40 to determine the stake, resulting in bets from just 0.12 p/c up to a maximum of €/$30. Wins are formed with clusters of three or more on either 5×5 grid. Because there are two playfields, the base game includes 20 regular pay symbols. Low-value symbols are 9-A royals, shown in red or blue depending on the side. Premium ice symbols include a ring, owl, tiger, dragon, and the ice lady. On the fire side you’ll find an orb, horse, wolf, dragon, and the fire lady. The queens pay the highest, at roughly 26 times the stake. This version of Ice and Fire also comes with a few notable stat tweaks: RTP has dipped from 97.29% to 96.64%, while volatility has moved up from low to medium/high, alongside a significant boost in potential.
Ice and Fire (Dreamtech Gaming): Features

The twin 5×5 layout uses a Cascade mechanic for wins. Any winning symbols disappear, allowing new ones to drop into the empty spaces. Cascades continue until no further wins appear, meaning a single spin can deliver multiple payouts.
The book symbol acts as a wild and substitutes for any paying symbol. It also comes with a distinctive twist. Through the Shared Wilds feature, any wild that lands on one grid is instantly duplicated into the identical position on the other grid. The copied wild replaces whatever symbol is there, except for scatters. If these added wilds help create a win, they are removed during the cascade, but the original wild will fire another copy across to take their place.
Ice and Fire includes two bonus rounds. The first is the Multiplier feature, activated by landing 3 dragon egg scatter symbols anywhere on the screen. Their exact placement doesn’t matter—you don’t need three on the ice side or three on the fire side. Three scatters grant 10 Free Spins, and each extra scatter adds 5 more spins. During the feature, extra wilds are introduced, and the real highlight is the Win Multiplier. It begins at x1 and increases by +1 after every cascade. All wins are multiplied by the current Win Multiplier, and the feature can be retriggered.
The second bonus is the Free Games feature. If you manage to hit 4 cascade wins consecutively in the base game, the Free Games round is awarded. Players pick either the ice dragon or the fire dragon to start, revealing 8, 10, or 15 free spins along with 100 or 150 additional wilds added in. The Free Game Feature can be retriggered, but the Multiplier Feature cannot be triggered from within it.
Ice and Fire (Dreamtech Gaming): Verdict
Anyone trying to understand what resonates with Asian slot audiences could learn a lot from the Dreamtech back catalogue. Many of the games feel designed specifically with Asian players in mind, and it’s intriguing to see the patterns behind that approach. Dreamtech may only be two years old, yet it has already produced a sizeable number of slots. With a few exceptions, most appear positioned toward the more recreational side of the Asian gambling market. This edition of Ice and Fire, however, feels sharper and more intense than what you might expect from the studio—essentially an Asian slot refitted for European tastes.
As noted earlier, the refresh has pushed volatility and potential upward. Dreamtech states the maximum payout reaches €574,170. At the top stake, that works out to 19,139 times the stake, which sounds a touch ambitious. Still, with the unlimited multiplier in play and a screen packed with premium symbols paying around 1,500x stake, there’s clearly some upside.
Does it deliver overall? Largely, yes. The game is competently built, though it misses a certain spark that could have elevated it further. It may take itself a bit too seriously, and a little humour could have helped balance the tone. That said, these are small complaints, and in general it performs well. Ice and Fire gets the fundamentals right, offers high volatility with strong potential, and the fantasy setting will appeal to genre fans. It won’t instantly make Dreamtech a household name, but it’s a respectable first step into the crowded European market.
