The name may bring to mind ReelPlay’s other space-themed slot Hypernova Megaways, and the presentation backs that up. Hypernova Radial Reels uses a similar backdrop—blue swirling gas on the left and red on the right. The soundtrack also leans into that same cosmic, orchestral vibe, strengthening the link between the two titles.

After that, the experience starts to separate itself. The game runs on a new mechanic called Radial Reels, made up of 3 circular rings split into 12 segments each. With every spin, 12 symbols populate each ring, for a total of 36 symbols on screen at once. The game is played on 12 paylines, and wins land when 3 matching symbols hit a payline. You can form combinations of up to 6 when matching symbols appear on paylines that sit directly opposite one another.

Every time a scatter lands, free spins reset back to 4 and the multiplier increases. Collecting 12 scatters takes you to the maximum multiplier of x300. If the wild multiplier reaches x300, scatters are removed from play, so no further retriggers can occur.

A couple of finer points are worth noting. Free spins can trigger more than once in a single spin if an explosion leads to another trigger. Also, free spins can trigger more than once if 3 or more scatters land on separate pay lines. When that happens, each free spins feature plays out consecutively, one after another.

Hypernova Radial Reels is the kind of boundary-pushing slot you really need to try yourself to understand properly. It feels a bit like a blend of Hypernova Megaways and Yggdrasil’s Avatars Gateway Guardians. Those two games are probably a decent reference point for whether Hypernova Radial Reels will suit your taste.

There’s plenty to like, including a fairly priced feature buy and strong overall stats. Still, there are drawbacks too. The biggest issue may be the underwhelming base game. It moves at a painfully slow pace, wins can feel out of reach, and much of the time you’re simply watching the rings fill and clear over and over.
