Hypernova 10K Ways: Slot Overview

Aussie studio ReelPlay heads back into deep space to grow its Hypernova line with a fixed-ways entry. Hypernova 10K Ways turns the collection into a trilogy, following the Megaways opener and the more unusual Radial Reels sequel. In a slightly odd move, Hypernova 10K Ways streamlines the formula, cutting both the number of potential ways to win and the overall win potential. It looks and feels extremely close to the Megaways release, but the tweaks leave it coming off as the weaker option.

The presentation is unchanged, giving players a 6 reeled main grid plus a 4-cell upper reel, all set in the hazy, colourful birthplace of swirling nebulae. It’s an attractive scene, although with this being the third outing, some of the freshness has inevitably faded. The four jackpots also remain, shown on the left side of the display, and the whole setup is instantly recognisable. It can take a few spins to be sure you haven’t opened the wrong game because it mirrors the Megaways version so closely. The identical reel symbols are the giveaway that this is the 10,000 ways edition, though beyond that, very little appears different.

Look closer and the stats do diverge. The RTP has edged up, now sitting at 96.16%, and winning combinations land at a rate of roughly 1 in 4 (25.71%). On the downside, the game’s potential has been reduced, although volatility still sits in the medium to high bracket. Hypernova 10K Ways runs smoothly on any device, with bets available from 20 p/c to $/€40 per spin.

Wins are formed when matching symbols connect left to right on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel. Most symbols require at least three to pay, with the exception of the highest premium, which pays from two or more. This top symbol is the diamond, followed by three other glittering gems, then A-9 card ranks. Payouts range from 2 to 100x the bet for six-of-a-kind premium combinations. Also, the upper reel exclusively can show an atom-styled wild, which substitutes for any paying symbol to help complete wins.

Hypernova 10K Ways: Slot Features

Much like its Megaways sibling, Hypernova 10K Ways revolves around the Bonus Respins feature, where instant cash prizes and the four jackpots are up for grabs. To activate it, you need 6 or more scatter symbols to land in the base game. When they do, the triggering scatters are held in place while all other symbols vanish.

At that point, 3 respins are awarded, and any new scatter symbols that land are locked as well, plus they reset the respins counter back to 3. The feature ends when you run out of respins or when every position is filled. All visible values are then added together and paid out. Alongside smaller cash amounts, scatters can also show one of the jackpots, with four available. The bronze, silver, gold, and platinum jackpots pay 10, 50, 250, or 2,000 times the total bet, respectively. During the bonus, it’s also possible for more than one of the same jackpot to appear.

Hypernova 10K Ways: Slot Verdict

It’s not easy to see the logic here, as this is basically Hypernova Megaways swapped over to a flat 10,000 ways format. The change isn’t significant enough to meaningfully shift how you’d feel compared to the earlier title. If you enjoy cruising through supernovas while aiming for the respin feature, this gives you another trip across the galaxy. For everyone else, it’s largely the same story, so don’t expect the 10K version to spark more excitement than the Megaways one managed.

If you’re new to the Hypernova series, here’s a quick look at the upsides and downsides. The space visuals are appealing, even if they don’t hit quite as hard as they did two years ago when the first game launched. The music is pleasantly ambient too, and even if it seems unchanged, it remains as calming as ever. Overall, it’s a soft, scenic ride through the universe, reminiscent of those Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey moments where Neil deGrasse Tyson pilots his CGI ship while explaining how everything fits together. For some, science may describe how things function, but it still can’t fully answer why it works—or convincingly explain why there is something rather than nothing.

Back to gameplay, and despite offering 10,000 ways, Hypernova 10K Ways doesn’t deliver an especially standout maximum win. At 5,662x the bet it’s not exactly a lifeless rock drifting through empty space, but it is lower than Hypernova Megaways and roughly a quarter of the Radial Ways entry, which is a strange direction for a follow-up. Notably, both games share the same bonus round and jackpots.

All in all, we weren’t particularly taken with Hypernova Megaways, and the 10K edition doesn’t do enough to change that view. If anything, Hypernova 10K Ways feels a bit unnecessary, since it doesn’t offer anything the other version doesn’t, making it difficult to justify setting off on another return journey.
