Hot Pots: Slot Overview

Hot Pots is another joint project from UK-based Reflex Gaming and Stakelogic, released through the latter’s Greenlogic Programme. This initiative lets studios such as Reflex concentrate on building the game while Stakelogic handles the distribution side. The previous Stakelogic/Reflex Gaming collaboration we looked at was Sea God, and despite the ocean setting, it didn’t really do it for us. So expectations weren’t especially high for Hot Pots, yet after spending some time with it, it ended up being better than anticipated.

Much like words such as “Gold” or “Deluxe,” “Hot” is an easy add-on to make a slot title sound more exciting. With Hot Pots, the label fits, since the game revolves around chilli peppers and is set in about the hottest environment imaginable. Players drop into a fiery pit for Hot Pots. It’s less intimidating than it could have been, because Reflex Gaming has designed the pepper characters to be devilishly cute rather than simply devilish. The rest of the backdrop keeps the heat on too, with molten lava bubbling under the reels inside a scorched stone chamber.

Hot Pots runs smoothly on any device and uses a 5×3 game grid with 20 fixed paylines. A few elements can vary, though. The first is RTP, which peaks at 95.21% but can fall as low as 88.01% depending on configuration. Your bet choice also affects how the game behaves. Standard stakes go from 20 p/c to $/€100 per spin, but enabling the Super Stake feature makes each spin cost double. In return, it increases the chance of triggering free spins and changes volatility from 3 out 5 in default bet mode to 5 out of 5. Potential changes as well, which is explained further down.

Wins in Hot Pots are formed when matching symbols connect across paylines on adjacent reels starting from the left. From lowest to highest value, the regular pay symbols include glowing 10-A royals, three human-like pepper characters, and the game logo. Five-of-a-kind payouts reach 1-5x for the low symbols and 10 to 25x for the higher ones. There’s also a pepper-covered wild that can land on any reel, substitutes for any paying symbol, and pays up to 25x the bet for five wilds on a line. The rules don’t state it outright, but in our sessions wilds only appeared when the Wild Boost feature added them to the reels.

Hot Pots: Slot Features

Hot Pots offers players 3 Wild Boost bonuses, plus free spins rounds that also incorporate respins.

Wild Boost Bonuses

Any time one of the special Hot Chilli Symbols appears, it activates one of these three modifiers:

  • Rivers of Fire – generates 1 to 4 stacked wild symbols.
  • Wild Fire – generates 2 to 8 wild symbols.
  • Red Hot Wilds – generates 2 to 8 wild symbols with multipliers from x2 to x20. Only one multiplier may apply per pay line.

Free Spins

The regular scatter can appear on reels 1, 3, or 5, while Super scatters or Mega scatters may land on reel 3. Landing:

  • 3 regular scatters awards 8 free spins
  • 2 regular scatters + 1 Super scatter gets you 12 free spins.
  • 2 regular scatters + 1 Mega scatter awards 16 free spins.

During free spins, when the first Wild Boost feature activates, wild symbols are locked and a respin is granted. On the second Wild Boost trigger, players receive 2 respins. Then, after the third and subsequent Wild Boost trigger, 3 respins are awarded. Lastly, +8 additional free spins are granted if 3 scatters land while the feature is running.

Gamble Feature

Hot Pots includes the familiar Stakelogic gamble feature. After a win, players can choose between gambling or collecting the payout. To gamble, you must correctly predict the colour or suit of a face-down card to multiply the win by x2 or x4. If you guess incorrectly, you forfeit everything won up to that point.

Hot Pots: Slot Verdict

It may sound a little brutal, but given our recent run-ins with Reflex Gaming titles, seeing their name on a new release can bring an involuntary wince. Still, Hot Pots genuinely wasn’t too bad. There were no awkward moments, no “what on earth?” reactions, and no forehead-slapping decisions—just a straightforward, pleasant ride from beginning to end. It’s not the kind of slot that’s going to storm many top 10 lists, not even close, yet for an oddball little game, it delivered a decent amount of fun.

The theme is handled nicely, for one thing. Some games absolutely drench the screen in chilli imagery—Hot Hot Chilli Pot being a good example—while others lean hard into a full Mexicana style. Both can work, but Hot Pots succeeds by keeping the chilli angle relatively restrained. Here, the peppers add personality, and the soundtrack helps create a Charlie Chance 1920s slapstick sort of feel. The features suit that playful tone, as does the win potential, which reaches 4,000x the bet with Super Stake enabled and 3,000x without it. After a longer session, the Super Stake feature seemed to have a big impact on how much we enjoyed the game—though, naturally, doubling the spin price won’t be for everyone.

To sum it up, Hot Pots ended up being a solidly positive experience overall—helped in part by the fact we went in expecting to be confused. As a bright, pepper themed slot, Hot Pots has enough charm and mechanics to carve out its own small space in the chilli market.
