Home of Thor: Slot Overview
The legendary Norse powerhouse Thor steps into the spotlight for players in Hacksaw Gaming partner Backseat Gaming‘s online slot Home of Thor—or, more accurately, his signature weapon does. Thor is a familiar face in slot themes, and while Backseat Gaming previously leaned on a Poseidon-style figure in Commander of Tridents, this is the first time the studio has explored the god of lightning, thunder, and storms, along with his dependable hammer, Mjölnir. Mechanically, Home of Thor is a cluster pays title where grid spaces are highlighted before being filled with different symbols, including Coins that can be multiplied, and it then carries a persistent twist into its two bonus rounds.
If the backdrop represents where Thor lives—lush nature, thatched buildings, and a bright blue, cloud-streaked sky—then it’s a cosy, postcard-worthy home for a deity. The setting switches to a night-time forest dotted with ravens for the lower bonus round, then moves into a snowy realm for the upper bonus feature. Throughout, Home of Thor looks great, even if the supposed star of the show is noticeably missing in person.

Home of Thor plays out on a 6×5 grid, forming wins when at least 5 matching symbols connect in a cluster. Winning symbols are removed and replaced as new symbols fall into place, and wins are collected in the Total Win Bar. Once the spin ends, the Total Win Bar total is multiplied by the Global multiplier to determine the final payout. The Global multiplier resets between base game spins. Bets range from 10 c to $/€100 in this medium-high volatile slot, and the top RTP available is 96.29%.
The paytable contains nine paying symbols. Five are low-paying 10-A card ranks, while the remaining four are higher-value axes, helms, boats, and horns. Five-of-a-kind clusters award 0.1x to 1x the bet, while the biggest clusters of 26+ OAK pay 100 to 500 times the bet. Wilds replace any paying symbol, and if 30 wilds appear, the prize is 1,000x their bet.
Home of Thor: Slot Features

When wins occur, the relevant positions are highlighted and can later reveal different symbols—Coins included—when Hammers strike. This mechanic is present in the base game and in both bonus rounds, which can also be purchased.
Highlight Squares
Grid spots that contain winning symbols become highlighted. If the Mjölnir symbol is present, then at the end of a tumble chain, every highlighted position is transformed into matching low or high-paying symbols or Coin prizes. When Coin prizes appear, they may also reveal Collector, Multiplier, or FS symbols. Mjölnir can land only once per spin (tumbles included), and any wins created by symbols revealed via Mjölnir do not create additional highlighted positions.
Coin symbols may carry values of 1x to 1,000x the bet. Empty Collector symbols collect all fixed prizes and respin all of the collected Coins. They do not collect other Collector symbols. If a Multiplier is revealed through the transformation mechanic, it adds x1 to x100 to the Global multiplier before that Coin respins again. The Global multiplier persists for the entire duration of a bonus round. When the spin ends, all Coins and Collector symbols are added together and added to the Total Win Bar. FS symbols appear only in bonus games and add +1, +2, or +3 to the remaining free spins.
Odin’s Feature
Landing 3 Raven scatters in the base game awards 10 free Odin’s Feature spins. Odin’s Feature uses the base game rules, with the addition that highlighted positions remain highlighted between spins until activated by a Mjölnir symbol, and the Global multiplier remains persistent until the feature finishes.
Valhalla
Hitting 3 Home of Thor scatters in the base game triggers 10 free Valhalla spins. This works like Odin’s Feature, except highlighted positions remain persistent for the full duration of the bonus round, even once they have been activated.
Bonus Buy
BonusHunt FeatureSpins cost 2x the bet and make each spin 3 times more likely to trigger a bonus game, while HammerFall FeatureSpins cost 50x and guarantee Mjölnir plus a winning combination on each spin. Odin’s Watch may be bought for 100x or Valhalla for 200x.

Home of Thor: Slot Verdict
Despite the title Home of Thor, Thor himself is barely present—actually, not present at all—though his iconic hammer certainly steals the show. You’ll want Mjölnir smashing down as often as possible, since it’s the main route to many of the game’s standout moments. In several respects, the Mjölnir symbol functions much like Le Bandit‘s Rainbow, and the two games share more than a few similarities. Those parallels might have felt a little cheeky if Hacksaw Gaming (creator of Le Bandit) and Backseat Gaming weren’t such close allies. Since they clearly are, it’s easy to picture the teams swapping concepts like the highlighted-position reveal mechanic for symbols and prizes.
And it’s a very effective concept, too. Golden Squares were spot-on in Le Bandit, and Highlighted Squares deliver the same satisfying impact here. More positives in Home of Thor include a Global multiplier that boosts wins (rather than only affecting nearby Coins, for example), plus Highlighted Squares that stay active throughout the Valhalla bonus whether Mjölnir triggers them or not. Also, unlike Le Bandit, the Valhalla bonus can be purchased, which could appeal to players who don’t want to spend time chasing a natural trigger in the base game. Adding to that, Home of Thor offers significantly higher max potential at 15,000x the bet (though equal to Le Pharoah).
All told, it looks like Backseat Gaming has borrowed a couple of lessons from its more established partner, but it’s applied them well—so anyone who enjoys Le Bandit-style gameplay should find plenty to like in the action served up by Home of Thor.
