Heroes Hunt 2 Megaways: Slot Overview

If you like your slots with a clear video game/RPG flavour, then 2020s’ Heroes Hunt Megaways from Swedish studio Fantasma Games likely ticked a few boxes. With its character-unlocking system, hero modifiers, and progression into higher-tier bonus rounds, it delivered a D&D-style adventure—though not without issues that players and streamers were quick to point out. A lot of the feedback focused on drawn-out animations and how hard it could be to reach the bonus games. Fantasma has since revisited the concept and launched Heroes Hunt 2 Megaways, keeping the main ideas from the original while adding fresh missions to work through.

After the trio of heroes defeated the dragon in the first Heroes Hunt, they’re summoned again. This time, a new threat has emerged around an ancient castle—actually two threats. The party now has a pair of monsters to defeat: werewolves and vampires. Following a bit of narrative setup, the action moves to a columned chamber inside the castle, where players face a 6-reel Megaways game grid that’s partly covered by blocker tiles. It may not be as striking as a treasure hoard watched over by a dragon, but it still leans heavily into fantasy themes. We also found Heroes Hunt 2’s music grew on us, blending metal and horror tones into a fun Eurovision-meets-vampires-and-werewolves atmosphere.

The numbers on paper are appealing. Each headline stat looks solid, even if sessions didn’t always feel like they matched the figures. On the plus side, the RTP sits at a default 96.49%, increasing to 96.82% or 96.97% when purchasing Werewolf or Vampire Free Spins, respectively. Like the original, the journey is highly volatile, with big upside available, although the maximum win has been trimmed slightly this time around. Bets range from 20 p/c to $/€50 per spin, and the game runs on any device.

Press spin and each reel can land up to six symbols, creating between 64 – 46,656 ways to win. A payout occurs when three or more matching symbols connect from left to right in any row starting on the leftmost reel. The paytable begins with four low-value rocks, followed by coins and crowns, then higher-paying Archers, Wizards, Warriors, and Vampires. If you hit a six-of-a-kind win with premium symbols, the payout is worth 2 to 10 times their stake.

Heroes Hunt 2 Megaways: Slot Features

Each new Heroes Hunt 2 run starts with players choosing 1 of the 3 heroes, while the other 2 must be unlocked. Once all 3 heroes are activated, key symbols begin appearing on the reels, which can lead to Vampire Free Spins and Super Spins.

Every hero has a unique modifier, which activates when that hero is active and their corresponding symbol lands on reels 2-5 in the base game or Vampire Free Spins:

  • The Wizard features an Explosion feature. When the Explosion symbol lands, it detonates and removes itself, along with non-winning pay symbols and blocker tiles in either one or two 2×2 zones, or one 3×3 zone. After the blast, 1 random pay symbol type fills every empty position created by the explosion.
  • The Warrior includes an Expanding Wild feature. When the sword symbol lands, the reel it is on is turned completely wild, clearing the symbols above or below it. This full-reel wild receives a multiplier of x2 to x6, which applies to any wins it helps form. An additional 1×1 sized wild is also placed onto another reel in a random position.
  • The Archer provides a Respin feature. When an arrow symbol appears, it and 4-9 other random non-winning symbols or blockers are removed. The number of tiles removed becomes a multiplier of the same value. Fresh symbols then drop in to fill the spaces, and any resulting wins are multiplied accordingly.

As you work on unlocking heroes, chest symbols can land on reel 6. When they appear, they either grant +1 EXP to one locked hero or they trigger Werewolf Free Spins. A total of 3 EXP is needed to unlock a hero.

When Werewolf Free Spins are triggered, players receive 10 free spins with no retrigger option. During this round, Werewolf Wild symbols can show up on reels 2-5, and they also turn adjacent Warrior, Wizard, or Archer symbols wild.

After all 3 heroes are activated, chest symbols stop landing on reel 6, and a new key symbol is added to the mix, able to land in any position. When 3 keys are visible on non-blocker tiles, players are awarded 10 Vampire Free Spins. During this feature, if the Explosion, Expanding Wild, or Respin feature removes 12 or more Vampire symbols, the Vampire is defeated and Super Free Spins are granted. For each Vampire Symbol is removed, or for each winning Vampire Symbol, +1 Vampire Spins is added. Once Vampire Free Spins end, the game returns to the base round and players choose one hero to unlock again, restarting the cycle.

Super Free Spins work similarly to those in Serpent Shrine. When triggered, players receive 2 free spins on a fully opened 6×6 game board where every win is multiplied by x100. Only wilds or regular symbols can appear during Super Free Spins.

Depending on jurisdiction, players may have the option to buy Werewolf Free Spins for 30x the bet or Vampire Free Spins for 100x the bet. Purchasing free spins does not progress or reset the heroes’ EXP.

Heroes Hunt 2 Megaways: Slot Verdict

On the whole, Heroes Hunt 2 Megaways feels more streamlined than the first game, though it can still be a grind. To improve the frequency of bonus action, Werewolf Free Spins tended to trigger fairly regularly during the hero-unlocking stage, but they seldom delivered anything memorable. Every so often, a couple of Werewolf wilds would land, spread, and produce a respectable payout—just don’t rely on it; there’s a reason these spins are priced at only 30x the bet.

After you’ve unlocked all three heroes, you may need patience, as chest symbols no longer appear and the wait can be significant. The loss of the cascade mechanic during the battle phase is noticeable too, as it removes some of the excitement. Vampire Spins are expected to trigger once every 485 spins on average, so moving from fully unlocking heroes to reaching the next stage can demand real persistence. Defeating the Vampire isn’t easy either, though it could be worthwhile if you manage to reach the x100 multiplier in Super Spins. We didn’t see it happen during testing, so it’s difficult to judge firsthand. Still, Fantasma has attached a 20,000x the bet win cap, which limits the top-end damage.

The concern about how long it can take to reach free spins hasn’t disappeared—it’s just present in a milder, or at least different, form than in the original. Unlocking all heroes to reach the key-scatter stage doesn’t take too long, but doing so removes Werewolf Spins from the equation. Heroes Hunt 2 Megaways is a balancing act: a strong cycle of unlocking heroes and landing Vampire Spins can build momentum for the next run. But if the process drags on and you finally get through it with very little to show, facing the same long road again can feel especially discouraging. If the pacing doesn’t click for you, it’s easy to walk away and leave the realm to deal with its undead and lupine nightmares alone.
