Hell’s Hogs: Slot Overview
You’ve probably come across the tale of the three little pigs building homes from different materials, but it’s not every day you see a pig trio tearing around on bikes in an online slot. Motorbikes, specifically, and the name ‘Hell’s Hogs’ nods to references like Hell’s Angels Motorcycle Club and the Harley Owners Group (HOG). Hell’s Hogs is an online slot from Reflex Gaming, created in association with Yggdrasil, and follows three motorcycle-riding pigs – Smokey, Streaky, and The Stud – as they cruise Highway 240 in 1948, in post-WW2 USA.
The first thing that stood out to us in Hell’s Hogs was the music. The lively, twangy soundtrack instantly brought to mind long, empty highway runs, wind rushing past, stopping at a diner, then hopping back on the bike to repeat the routine a few hundred miles later. Visually, Hell’s Hogs does a decent job, showing a cactus-lined, cracked desert road, though it doesn’t paint the same vivid picture as the audio. The UI feels as old-school as ever, but for a Reflex Gaming slot the sound and visuals are solid enough.
Judging by Hell’s Hog’s math model, the ride is more relaxed cruising than white-knuckle chaos. That’s largely down to its low volatility, supported by a hit frequency of 27.39% – theoretically, better than 1 winning spin in 4. Gameplay runs on a 5×3, 20-payline grid and delivers an RTP of 95.6%. It’s available across devices, with stakes ranging from 20 p/c to $/€100.
The paytable shifts the vibe into something a little more neon. Low-paying card suits – clubs, spades, hearts, and diamonds – return 5 to 8 times the stake for five of a kind. Above those are wheels, jukeboxes, and the game’s logo, paying 10 to 25x the bet for a five-symbol line. All symbols require at least three of a kind to form a win, except the highest-paying symbol, which needs only two. Wilds can land on any reel and substitute for all symbols apart from the bonus symbol.
Hell’s Hogs: Slot Features
The game’s three pigs are tied to three different bonus rounds. They’re named Piggy in the Middle, Biker Bash, and Wild Ride, and the base game is also boosted by a Mystery Chop Shop Symbol feature.
Chop Shop Symbols
These symbols can land randomly during the base game. Any that appear transform into the same matching pay symbol once they open.
Piggy in the Middle
Hitting 3, 4, or 5 Piggy in the Middle symbols activates this bonus. You’ll see 3 pigs on motorbikes on screen, each showing prize values or modifiers. Press the stop button at the bottom, and whatever prize or modifier is highlighted at that moment is awarded. The process repeats until the stop button is pressed and a red X appears instead of a prize.
Biker Bash
If at least 3 Biker Bash symbols land, the Biker Bash feature starts and awards 10 free spins. On spin one, the win multiplier begins at x1, then increases by +1 at the end of each spin. This feature can be retriggered, allowing for a maximum multiplier of x30.
Wild Ride
This bonus triggers when 3 Wild Ride bonus symbols land, giving 5 free spins in which full reel super wild symbols move across the reels. One super wild appears on spins 1 and 2, two super wilds appear on spins 3 and 4, and then three super wilds appear on the final spin on the middle three reels.
Hell’s Hogs: Slot Verdict
We must have been feeling upbeat when we reviewed Hell’s Hogs, because it came across as one of Reflex Gaming’s stronger efforts so far. That may sound a bit cutting, but it’s also fair to say the earlier titles we’ve played from them haven’t exactly set the world alight. Given that uneven history, we rolled into Hell’s Hogs with modest expectations and took it for a spin. The audio and visuals reminded us of ELK’s Route 777, and they helped set a good tone while seeing what Hell’s Hogs could deliver.
With Reflex Gaming, there’s often one or two (or more) elements that feel slightly off. It might be an oddity in the maths, features that don’t quite click, or simply a presentation that feels a bit shaky. Sadly, even though Hell’s Hog seemed like progress, it didn’t completely avoid that familiar issue. At the core, while having three bonus games sounds appealing on paper, none of them is particularly inventive. Piggy in the Middle has a mildly whack-a-mole style of fun, Wild Ride brings in full reel wilds (which can get interesting on the final spin), and Biker Bash uses a rising multiplier – all fairly well-worn ideas. Each bonus can definitely be exciting in the right moment, but once you peel away the theme there isn’t much that feels essential. Another confusing point is the max win, because the game initially suggested winnings of up to 10,136x the bet were possible. However, the paytable says the top win is 6,690x the stake. It’s unclear why those figures clash, but it doesn’t do much to build trust.
To sum it up, Hell’s Hogs is not a bad outing for a Reflex Gaming release, and it feels like more care went into it than usual. Even so, there’s still a lipstick-on-a-pig vibe thanks to the flat math model, fairly familiar features, and the inconsistent win claims.
