Happy Bamboo: Slot Overview
Following Push Gaming’s reshuffle of its catalogue, the studio introduced the Reel Hot Games concept, a sub-brand aimed at more traditional, classic-style slots—think three-reel setups with a land-based flavour. One of the earlier titles to arrive under this banner is Happy Bamboo, a spin-off of the popular 2022 release Big Bamboo, reworked to suit a three-reel format. Alongside the tighter playfield come jackpot prizes, a hold ‘n’ win-style round, and mystery symbol reveals, blending modern mechanics with an old-school framework.
In terms of presentation, Happy Bamboo feels closely connected to Bamboo Ways, placing the action among clouds and rich Asian-inspired visuals. A traditional building sits in the backdrop, though the whole scene feels scaled down, largely because the grid is smaller—very much in line with the Reel Hot Games idea. Jackpot prizes are displayed beside the reels to help keep the target audience engaged, while a Panda sits above, gathering Coins into a pot to (hopefully) set off the bonus sooner rather than later. It’s nicely put together—nothing groundbreaking, but appealing enough to encourage a deeper look.

Happy Bamboo’s reel set has been trimmed down to a 3×3 size and offers only 5 ways to win, so wins can only form via 3 OAK combinations. Push Gaming has also toned the volatility to a medium level, with the top RTP option coming in at 96.31% (across three RTP variants). Bets run from $/€0.10 to $/€100 per spin, and Happy Bamboo includes neither a bonus buy nor an ante bet.
At the lower end of the paytable you’ll find diamonds, spades, hearts, and clubs, then gourds, scrolls, monkeys, and pandas. Card suit combinations return 0.5x to 1x, the two mid-tier symbols pay 3x to 5x, and the character symbols award 25x to 100x the bet. Wild symbols replace all other paying symbols to help form wins, and any wild win pays 100x the stake.
Happy Bamboo: Slot Features

There are a few familiar mechanics to cover here, including Mystery Bamboo symbol reveals, a Swapper feature, and a Hold and Respin round.
Mystery Bamboo Symbols
Mystery Bamboo symbols can land anywhere, and once they do, they reveal matching symbols across all of them—wilds, regular pay symbols, or Golden Mystery Bamboo symbols. Golden Mystery Bamboo symbols spin to reveal:
- Coins – Also referred to as Instant Prize symbols bearing values of 1x to 100x the bet.
- Collectors – Collect the value of all other Instant Prize symbols, Jackpot symbols, and Collector symbols. Instant Prize symbols are removed and their positions respin.
- Multipliers – Have a value of x2 to x10, which gets sent to each Instant Prize symbol, Mystery Jackpot symbol, and Collector symbol. It is then removed to spin in another prize. The multiplier is applied at the end of the spin.
- Mystery Jackpot Symbols – Reveal the 10x Mini, 25x Minor, 100x Mega, or 500x Grand prize which gets awarded.
Swapper Feature
If the Panda high pay lands on the top of the reels, two symbols swap positions in an attempt to form a winning combination.
Hold and Respin
Golden Coins are collected by the Panda Pot. Each time a Golden Coin is gathered, there is a chance the Hold and Respin feature will activate. When it triggers, a wheel spins to set an end-of-round multiplier of x2 to x10. Throughout the feature, Mystery Bamboo symbols or duds can appear. Any Mystery symbols that land remain visible, lock in place, and keep the respin chain alive. The round ends when Mystery Bamboo symbols are no longer landing or all positions are filled. After that, the Mystery Bamboo symbols reveal either a pay symbol or a Golden Mystery Bamboo symbol. Once the round is complete, the total win is multiplied by the end-of-round multiplier.

Happy Bamboo: Slot Verdict
With Happy Bamboo, Push Gaming takes one of its heavy-hitting titles and reshapes it through a more classic(ish) filter. Overall, the idea lands well, and it’s easy to see how this blend of retro structure and modern touches could appeal to the players it’s targeting. Happy Bamboo is far from a plain fruit-machine clone, yet the more traditional approach could help the Bamboo brand reach a fresh audience who may find this format easier to get into. Even with the reduced grid, Happy Bamboo packs plenty into the available space, including the signature reveal sequences the series is known for.
That said, it may not hit quite the same highs as its larger relatives. The maximum win, for example, steps down from the towering 50,000x range to a more restrained—though still solid—6,060x the bet. Instant Prizes also offer less upside, and the four jackpots aren’t exactly enormous, although there is at least the possibility of pairing them with multis. Still, Happy Bamboo isn’t trying to be the biggest or boldest entry in the lineup. The goal is to deliver a Bamboo-style experience on a three-reel machine, and it succeeds at that, with the usual polished Push Gaming finish.
In certain respects, Happy Bamboo could be viewed as a smaller-scale entry compared to related games, but that’s unlikely to matter much to the type of player it’s designed for. Its sleek visuals, smooth performance, and well-honed features sit comfortably within the compact layout, making it reasonable to conclude that Happy Bamboo meets the aims its developer set out to achieve.
