Golden Gods: Slot Overview
Golden Gods is an online slot from Max Win Gaming created with support from the more seasoned software provider Relax Gaming. When two studios collaborate, you often see one influence the other—particularly when one is a proven name with a long track record. That’s the case with Golden Gods, which feels like it has Relax Gaming’s touch throughout. It may not be obvious right away, but once you trigger its OP hold & win bonus game, you’re likely to get a heavy dose of Money Train 2 déjà vu.
As noted, the similarities between the two titles don’t jump out immediately. Central American-themed slots are nothing new, yet Golden Gods makes a strong first impression thanks to its lively opening screen. A golden god statue stands under a stone arch, holding two orbs that give off an alluring, exotic vibe. Hit play and you’re dropped into a jungle setting framed by vivid green plants and a huge step pyramid in the distance. That description could fit plenty of Aztec slots—most of them, honestly—but Golden Gods has a polished charm that becomes even more appealing once the gameplay starts heating up.
Golden Gods’ Central American adventure runs smoothly on any device, and players can choose stakes from 10 p/c to $/€15 per spin. The RTP is offered in two versions, and both sit comfortably above average. The standard RTP is 96.07% during regular play, while it shifts to 96.12% when purchasing the bonus round. With high volatility, Golden Gods delivers massive upside—actually exceeding the potential of the slot that inspired it.
At the centre is a grid of 5 reels and 5 rows, providing 3,125 ways to connect winning combinations. Payouts land left to right on any row, provided matching symbols appear on neighbouring reels. Golden Gods uses ten paying symbols in total. Six are 9-A card ranks, paying 0.8 to 1.5x the bet for five of a kind, while five-of-a-kind of the blue, green, purple, and orange face premiums—called majors in Golden Gods—pays up to 3x the bet.
Golden Gods: Slot Features
Max Win Gaming has excluded wilds, leaving the golden bonus scatter as the only other special symbol. This scatter is responsible for activating both features—Respins and the Bonus Round.
Respins Feature
If a winning combination of high pay majors lands at the same time as 1 or 2 scatters, the respin feature activates. Once triggered, the reels continue to spin until a dead spin occurs.
Bonus Round
The bonus round begins when 3 or more scatter symbols appear. The triggering scatters transform into sticky money symbols, and every other symbol is cleared away—then 6 spins are granted in which only money symbols or four feature symbols can land. Whenever a money symbol lands, it locks in place, while sticky feature symbols grant +3 spins and activate a modifier. More information on these symbols is below:
- Regular symbol – carries a value of 2x to 8x the bet.
- Gold symbol – has a value of 10x to 200x the bet and awards +2 free spins.
- Itzamna – mirrors the value of a random symbol and adds it to all symbols.
- Ix Chel – Either merges 2-4 cash symbols into one position by summing their values and multiplying the amount by its own multiplier. Or, turns one of the feature symbols golden, which means its effect triggers on every spin.
- Kinich Ahau – sums the value of all symbols and collects them.
- Chaac – Either selects up to 3 cash prizes and doubles their values up to 3 times each. Plus, there is a chance a cash prize is converted to a feature symbol. Or, a non-active feature symbol is reactivated.
The bonus round finishes once all spins have been used, or when the game’s notable win cap has been hit.
Bonus Buy
Where permitted in your region, you can purchase direct access to the bonus round for 150x their stake.
Golden Gods: Slot Verdict
If Golden Gods didn’t sit so close to the blockbuster Money Train 2, it might have been the breakout release for Max Win. Even with that comparison hanging over it, Golden Gods has plenty going for it and stands out for the right reasons. For starters, it’s visually impressive: the palette pops, from the golden-winged deity on the home screen to the jungle backdrop that blends a cartoon edge with more realistic detail. It’s reminiscent of those golf games that look almost absurdly lifelike on a PC. The separate reel-spinning motion can feel a bit unusual at first, but it doesn’t take long to get used to once you settle in.
And when it really gets going—especially in the bonus game—the Money Train 2 influence becomes hard to miss, hinting at whatever role Relax Gaming played during development. That said, Golden Gods’ bonus round doesn’t quite deliver the same in-your-face impact as MT2. With only four special symbols, and none that fire off effects like a Persistent Payer or crackle like a Necromancer, Golden Gods ends up with the calmer of the two bonus experiences.
Still, Golden Gods counters with a bigger top-end win, edging its inspiration by another 10k. Unsurprisingly, this is highlighted clearly, so players know they’re chasing up to 60,000x their bet. The close link to Relax Gaming also makes that number feel more credible, lending weight to the promise in a way that might be harder for Max Win Gaming to achieve entirely on their own.
In one line, Golden Gods is essentially Money Train 2 reimagined with an Aztec flavour. The higher maximum win adds extra temptation, even if the route to reaching it could be seen as less thrilling. Then again, landing 60,000x on any slot is enough to make just about anyone’s pulse race.
