God of Fire: Slot Overview
In ancient history, fire captivated early civilizations so much that countless fire deities emerged in cultures worldwide. From a European perspective, one of the best-known is the Greek God Hephaestus and his Roman equivalent Vulcan. As the son of Zeus, he forged weapons for the Olympian gods, and that mythic energy carries into God of Fire, a slot packed with hefty figures from developer Northernlights Gaming.
Running on Microgaming, the action takes place inside the god’s forge on a 5-reel, 3-row layout. God of Fire feels lively thanks to smoothly animated wins, short cut-scene moments, and ever-present flickering flames. Hephaestus watches from the left of the reels beside streams of molten metal and rock. It has a stronger pull than much of Northernlights’ earlier output, even before getting into the standout mechanics.
A major hook here is the Ultraways mechanic, previously seen in Golden Stallion, which delivers an enormous number of win routes. In God of Fire, that translates to up to 60 million ways to win. Similar to Megaways, the reel setup is variable, with symbol counts shifting on every spin. Rather than changing symbol sizes like Megaways, each reel position can contain 1-4 symbols. In that sense it resembles Megaclusters, except every symbol stacked in the same position is always the same type.
With stakes from 10 p/c to $/€50 per spin, the slot is available in three RTP configurations: the top version sits at 96.02%, with alternatives dropping to 94.07% or lower depending on jurisdiction. Volatility is labelled high, and the game pairs its Ultraways volume with notable win potential, as outlined below.
Wins are formed by landing at least three matching symbols of any size in adjacent positions starting from the leftmost reel. The symbol set leans into Greek styling, featuring J-A card ranks plus jugs, columns, helmets, and Hephaestus as the highest-paying icon. Because each position can land in different sizes, combinations can stretch to as many as 10 symbols. Bear in mind that, with so many possible ways, paytable returns are modest: a 10-symbol hit of a premium pays only 0.9 to 1.1 times the stake. Wilds pay the same as the top premium and substitute for all other paying symbols
God of Fire: Slot Features

God of Fire includes a Blue Wild symbol as well. When it lands, it activates the Exploding Wild bonus. Each Blue Wild bursts to reveal either single, double, or quad wilds, or additional Blue Wilds. Blue Wilds keep exploding until none remain on the reels. Standard wilds are not part of the explosion chain.
The coin box wrapped in a wreath is the scatter, and it appears on any reel in the base game only. Hitting 3, 4, or 5 scatters triggers free spins with 3, 4, or 5 lives, respectively. In free spins, heart symbols can land on the final reel to add a life, while skulls land to remove one. Once lives are gone, the feature ends and it cannot be retriggered. Special bonuses can also be randomly granted on any spin. These include Exploding Wilds, where Blue Wilds replace a symbol, Ultraways Upgrade, which upgrades a random symbol, or a multiplier of x2, x3, x5, or x10 that applies to all wins on that spin.
Finally, there’s the super free spins mode, unlocked after 60 near misses have been collected (tracked in a meter whenever 2 scatters land). When super free spins begin, 3, 4, or 5 lives are randomly assigned using the same heart and skull rules as above. Here, a bonus is guaranteed on every spin, and it can be Exploding Wilds, Ultraways Upgrade, or a multiplier of x4, x6, x10, or x20 applied to any wins on the current spin.
God of Fire: Slot Verdict
Northernlights has delivered a well-built package with God of Fire. The studio sets the tone with a rich, heavy atmosphere full of imposing gods and sizzling flames—arguably a far better thematic fit for Ultraways than the earlier horse-themed title. The tough, fiery presentation suits the huge figures the game is designed to produce. Northernlights experimented in Golden Stallion with roughly 200,000 ways, which is sizeable on its own, yet it pales next to the 60 million promoted in God of Fire.
That enormous ways count can be a mixed blessing. It keeps payouts small unless several symbols connect across a large number of winning routes—though when it does, it’s impressive to watch. On the plus side, Northernlights has backed the Ultraways scale with strong upside, advertising wins beyond 18,000x the bet. The super free spins addition is also welcome, especially since it can be earned through the near-miss meter. It’s a smart use of the “two scatters” outcome by turning it into a longer-term objective. Developers such as Peter & Sons and Relax Gaming have used this concept effectively, and God of Fire follows suit by giving players another reason to keep spinning.
All told, God of Fire provided plenty of enjoyable moments during testing. The theme may not break new ground, but Northernlights executes it confidently, pairing it with smart features and some eye-catching headline numbers.
