Fruit Duel: Slot Overview
From its earliest releases, software developer Hacksaw Gaming has shown a clear fondness for food-themed slots and anything edible, with plenty of fresh produce along the way. That runs from the comfort-snack vibe of Om Nom to the more health-leaning treats found in King Carrot. With Fruit Duel (originally named Fruityplier), the studio leans fully into fruit, delivering a 3×3-style game with a more straightforward feature set and a smaller max win than we’ve come to expect from the team. Fruit Duel is aimed at a different audience than the studio’s darker, more complex titles, so if you’re wondering whether it fits your tastes, keep reading.
Fruit Duel kicks off on a bright, sunny day on a farm, possibly even the same setting as Hop’n’Pop viewed from another perspective. Here, the action plays out on a 3-reel, 3-row game grid, partly hidden behind thick green leaves. Soft-focus red barns sit in the distance, and the laid-back music gives off a lounging-on-a-Caribbean-beach kind of feel. It’s a calm presentation with little distraction. Overall, Fruit Duel offers a light, fruity take on countryside life in summer.

Available on desktop, mobile, and tablet, Fruit Duel supports wagers from 10 p/c to $/€100 per spin and includes two bonus modes for those who want them. It’s also less intense than many Hacksaw titles, with the volatility rated medium, or 3 out of 5. The top RTP is listed at 96.3%, though as with other Hacksaw releases, alternative RTP models may exist, so it’s worth checking.
There are 17 paylines in total, and wins are formed with three-of-a-kind combinations. Most symbols in Fruit Duel are fruit-themed, including the regular pay icons: blueberries, lemons, grapes, oranges, apples, bananas, cherries, and strawberries, which return 0.1 to 5 times the stake for three matching symbols. Rounding things out is the wild symbol, which can land on any reel and substitutes for all fruit symbols. Wilds also pay the same as strawberries when they form wins on their own.
Fruit Duel: Slot Features

Fruit Duel’s main mechanic is called DuelReels, activated when the VS symbol appears on any reel. Once triggered, the VS symbol turns into a full reel wild. On top of that, if 2 fruit symbols with multipliers land on the reel, they battle it out. The winner contributes its multiplier value to the full reel wild, similar to what you might have encountered in titles like Gladiator Legends. One important detail: the reel only expands if it will be part of a win when it expands, in a ‘book of’ fashion. If multiple wild reels are involved in the same win, their multiplier values are added together before being applied. Available multiplier values are x2, x3, x4, x5, x10, x15, x20, x25, x50, x75, or x100.
Free Spins
Hitting 3 free spins symbols on the screen awards 10 free spins. In this mode, there is an increased chance of landing VS symbols versus the base game, and players are more likely to get higher multipliers from the duel.
Buy Bonus
In the Bonus Buy menu, you’ll find two options to choose from. The first is FeatureSpins for 10x the bet, where every spin is guaranteed to land at least 1 VS symbol (96.35% RTP). The second option buys free spins for 80x the bet (96.36% RTP).

Fruit Duel: Slot Verdict
If you initially glance at the DuelReels name and assume it means some kind of double-grid setup, you might be surprised. In practice, Fruit Duel keeps things simpler, focusing on full reel wild multipliers triggered by the VS symbol (provided a win is created). This concept isn’t new, having shown up in earlier Hacksaw games like Gladiator Legends and Warrior Ways. The twist here is that fruit face off to decide which multiplier is used, rather than fighters or armored warriors. It may sound odd to frame fruit as combatants, but it does let Hacksaw add juicy splatter effects when the losing fruit gets taken out. It’s a lot less brutal than decapitations and blood spray, though.
Then again, that seems to be the intention: a lighthearted fruit slot built around DuelReels that feels welcoming instead of wild-eyed and aggressive. The math model supports that direction as well, with lower volatility than many Hacksaw slots and a reduced max win. At its peak, when the duels and multipliers line up, Fruit Duel can pay up to 3,333x the bet. It’s not a headline-grabbing figure, but it’s not bad for a 3-reel fruit game. The unusual number of paylines and the multipliers, which can get quite high in theory, can make a difference, particularly when two or more DuelReels combine.
With Fruit Duel, anyone who isn’t already into straightforward fruit slots probably won’t find enough extra here to change their mind. DuelReels arguably felt more rewarding in earlier DuelReel games, where stronger themes created a more absorbing experience than hanging around a farm and squashing fruit. On the flip side, if you’re browsing for a classic fruit slot that adds expanding wild multiplier action, Fruit Duel should deliver a satisfying enough take on that idea.
