The warriors are rendered with plenty of detail, from every ab and muscle line to their gear and weaponry. The audio is suitably grand as well, giving the game extra punch. Alongside the slashes and heavy impacts, a choral track drifts through the background, adding a bit more atmosphere to the action.

Respins continue until no new winning symbols land or the reels become stacked.

Watch for the flaming Omega scatter: landing 3 triggers the Spartan Spins, and the scatters lock in place while the other positions are respun. The reels keep spinning this way as long as additional scatters keep landing, stopping only when no new ones appear or the grid is filled. Interestingly, this is effectively a re-release of an older game called Legend of Sparta, and as a straightforward, old-school slot experience, Fortunes of Sparta holds up pretty well. The base game doesn’t offer much beyond standard spins, but the bonus can be a different story. When it comes together, it can absolutely justify enduring the dull “death by a thousand cuts” stretches that can dominate the main game. The attractive visuals and strong sound design also make the wait for the bonus easier to push through than it otherwise might be.
