And while some slots show a ways counter above the reels, Fortune Rewind uses a time clock instead, so you can tell not only where you are, but when.

Dr Tempis’ unstable time machine is paired with a highly volatile math model, and it may come in different RTP configurations. Fortune Rewind delivers a seriously wild trip across the timeline. One upside of Play’n GO’s relentless output is that it pushes the studio to try plenty of off-the-wall concepts, and every so often they strike gold. Fortune Rewind is one of those titles, feeling polished and confident from beginning to end. It opens with a strong intro animation that sets up the heroine’s time-hopping mission to locate her missing father. After that, you’re dropped into a rotating, shifting series of eras, each one crafted with real care. Play’n GO’s attention to detail is outstanding, and the touches packed into Fortune Rewind are often funny, occasionally thought-provoking, and frequently just plain cool.

It’s enjoyable to play as well. The base game is boosted by two side features, Wild Rewind and Fast Forward, which cleverly translate the time-travel idea into mechanics that are genuinely entertaining. The Free Spins round is just as smartly designed. Removing the non-HP symbols is a nice decision, and once again Play’n GO ties the idea of moving between eras directly into the gameplay. A big part of that is the multiplier, which can deliver a significant jump when Wanted symbols land a winning line. Get a handle on the time-hopping in Fortune Rewind and winnings of up to 8,500x the bet are on the table. We didn’t manage to witness it ourselves, but maybe the max win ends with Dr Tempis finally catching up with her dad?

As noted earlier, time travel is a dangerous business where one wrong step could ‘create a time paradox, the results of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum and destroy the entire universe.’ That’s Doc Brown’s warning, anyway. Luckily, Fortune Rewind never reaches anything close to that nightmare outcome, instead landing as an exciting slot that’s expertly designed and delivered.
