Fate of Dead Blitzways: Slot Overview
An ancient Egypt slot with “of Dead” in the name—shocking, we know—but Fate of Dead Blitzways from software provider Play’n GO isn’t one of those expanding-symbol “book of” games. That said, it’s not exactly setting new creative standards either, so it’s worth keeping expectations in check. In fact, Fate of Dead Blitzways is essentially a reskin of Legacy of Gems, which served as a decent first showing for the studio’s Blitzways system. The underlying mechanic can be fun, though it might have stood out more if it didn’t feel so close to Big Time Gaming’s Megaways engine. Still, let’s see what (if anything) the new theme brings to the table.
Play’n GO has gone with familiar territory, and Fate of Dead’s base game takes place in a fairly generic ancient Egyptian setting. You’ve got flickering flames, columns supporting the chamber, and hieroglyph-covered walls—pretty much the extent of it in the main game—while a moody soundtrack helps sell the vibe. Visually it leans a bit Book of Dead-adjacent and doesn’t do anything remarkable, although the free spins round looks more threatening, framing the screen with striking statues from the period.

The playfield is a 5-reel setup, with 2 to 7 symbols landing on each reel. Both the reel heights and the number of ways to win change every spin, reaching up to 16,807 ways—very Megaways-like. Other key stats include a math model rated 7 out of 10 for volatility, plus five RTP options, topping out at 96.2%. Betting ranges from 10c per spin up to $/€100. One notable twist is that wins can start from any position, provided matching symbols connect horizontally or vertically in a cluster on 3 or more adjacent reels.
Fate of Dead Blitzways uses 9-A royals along with four premium symbols. Landing 5 matching royals across the reels returns 0.4x to 0.6x the bet, while 5 matching premium symbols across the grid pay 1.5x to 7.5x. After a payout, the winning symbols disappear, and new symbols drop down to fill the spaces—continuing again if another win is formed.
Fate of Dead Blitzways: Slot Features

Fate of Dead Blitzways keeps things focused, with wilds/wild multipliers and a free spins round where wilds become sticky.
Wilds
Following every win, a wild symbol is created in one of the vacant positions. When a wild contributes to a win, a multiplier wild is generated instead. If you win using multiplier wilds, the game produces even bigger multiplier wilds, meaning the next added wild appears with a higher multiplier value. Wilds replace all symbols except scatters, and multiplier wilds boost the full value of any win they take part in.
Free Spins
Collecting 3 scatters from the reels during a cascade sequence in the base game awards 8 free spins. A wild is placed at the beginning of the feature, and wilds remain sticky throughout free spins, increasing their multipliers. Any scatter that lands during the bonus adds +1 free spin, up to a maximum of 46 free spins.

Fate of Dead Blitzways: Slot Verdict
You could reasonably expect that on its second run, Play’n GO might expand the Blitzways concept—add a fresh supporting feature, adjust the formula, or introduce something that the original Legacy of Gems didn’t have. But that’s not the case here, and there’s nothing in Fate of Dead Blitzways that you won’t also find in Legacy of Gems Blitzways, aside from the new coat of paint—and even then, ancient Egypt isn’t exactly an adventurous choice for Play’n GO. To be fair, the studio generally handles this theme well, so Fate of Dead is still a good-looking game.
Beyond the visuals, Blitzways does what it does, blending Megaways-style reel variability with a cluster-pays approach. The addition of wilds—and then wild multipliers—being placed into empty spaces before the cascade continues also gives Fate of Dead Blitzways a slight DoubleMax vibe. However, the multiplier progression arguably isn’t as thrilling as DoubleMax, since it climbs in steps of 1 rather than doubling up into ridiculous territory. The “sticky” behaviour in free spins may also feel less sticky than some players might hope. The multiplier value remains visible and doesn’t reset until the feature ends, continuing to rise when it’s involved in wins. But the wild symbols themselves don’t stay locked in place for the entire bonus, so if you were imagining the Blitzways grid gradually filling with stuck wilds, it doesn’t really play out that way. Most of the time, there was a single wild on screen showing the current multiplier, combining with other wilds when they appeared in the same win.
At least on paper, the setup is capable of paying up to 20,000x the bet, and overall it felt about as entertaining—maybe a touch more—than Legacy of Gems. Fate of Dead doesn’t fully capitalise on the chance to push the Blitzways mechanic forward, but perhaps the next entry will bring something genuinely new.
