Dragons Vs Gigablox: Slot Overview
Yggdrasil Gaming and ReelPlay collaborator Hot Rise Games continues the ‘Vs Gigablox’ lineup with an Asian-inspired entry called Dragons Vs Gigablox. This instalment changes things up a little, as the dragons don’t really go head-to-head like the fighters in earlier Vs titles. Instead, players can run the base game in two different modes, each led by a different dragon that unlocks its own feature. Beyond that, Gigablox behaves as expected, and the main bonus is presented as a streak respin-style round.
One of the first decisions in Dragons Vs Gigablox is choosing which dragon—and therefore which feature—you want enabled. The two options are the Ruby Dragon or the Jade Dragon, with their linked effects explained in the features section. After locking in your pick (and you can switch later via the Dragon Select button without any hassle), the action begins. Fans of Asian-themed slots are met with an attractive backdrop of curved rooftops, an arched bridge, wooded hills, and a dragon-framed grid, all bathed in intense sunlight that feels like sunrise or sunset—an appealing scene for this kind of theme.

Along with selecting your dragon, you’ll also need to set your stake, with wagers ranging from 30 c to $/€15 per base game spin. There are three RTP setups available; the standard option is 96%, and the math model volatility is high across all versions. The game is played on a 6-reel, 6-row grid, and wins are evaluated using 50 paylines.
On the symbol front, Dragons Vs Gigablox features ten standard pay symbols. These are the J-A royals, plus a fan, a lamp, a flower, and a bag, alongside the Jade Dragon and the Ruby Dragon. A line of 6 matching royals returns 0.83x the bet, while 6 of the mid-tier items pay around 1.33-1.67x the bet (rounded values). For the dragon symbols, the Jade Dragon awards 2.5x for 6 OAK, while the Ruby Dragon delivers 5x the bet for 6. Golden sycee wilds can appear on any reel and substitute for all regular paying symbols. Wild wins pay the same as Ruby Dragon wins. Also worth noting: any symbol except bonus or wild can appear as a Gigablox symbol sized from 2×2 to 6×6 in size.
Dragons Vs Gigablox: Slot Features

Players can choose whether the Ruby Dragon or the Jade Dragon is active. With the Ruby Dragon selected, any Ruby Dragon Gigablox that lands fully visible randomly drops 2, 3, or 4 wilds onto the reels. If a wild lands on a Gigablox symbol—including the triggering Ruby Dragon—then the entire Gigablox turns wild. When 2 or more Ruby Dragon Gigabloxes appear on the same spin, each one triggers 2 to 4 wilds. Wilds cannot drop onto existing wilds or scatters. With the Jade Dragon active, any Jade Dragon Gigablox that lands completely in view increases in size unless it is already a 6×6 symbol. Any scatters covered by a Jade Dragon still count toward triggering the bonus round.
Bonus Respins
Hitting at least 5 scatter symbols in the base game activates the respins bonus, where 3 respins are awarded at the start. All triggering symbols drop to the bottom of the grid and remain locked there, while every other non-held position respins. Any symbol that lands during the feature resets the spin count to 3. The round finishes when there are no respins left or the grid has no remaining space. After that, all bonus prizes are totalled and multiplied by the bet.
The only symbols that can land on the bottom rows are bonus symbols and bonus special symbols. When either appears in the bottom area, it drops to the lowest available position and is held. Each bonus symbol on a reel displays a prize equal to the total number of symbols occupying the bottom positions on that reel. Bonus special symbols increase all other bonus special symbols currently on screen by +1. Just one bonus special symbol can land on the bottom rows per reel; when it does, it applies a 2x multiplier to all symbols on its reel.
Landing a bonus multiplier symbol or bonus special symbol on the top row multiplies all prizes on the reel by x2 or x4, respectively. If 2 or more top-row symbols land on consecutive reels, their multipliers are added together and then applied to all bonus or bonus special symbols in the bottom rows of those reels. Only bonus multiplier or bonus specials symbols can appear on the top row, and they stay locked in place.
Bonus Buy
Paying 65x the bet lets players purchase a round that is guaranteed to land between 5 and 12 bonus symbols.

Dragons Vs Gigablox: Slot Verdict
If you’re after Gigablox gameplay with dragons and an Asian flavour, Dragons Vs Gigablox fits the bill. For the target audience, the bigger question may not be whether to play, but whether to run with the Ruby or the Jade dragon. That choice is made trickier by the lack of guidance on any best approach, or whether either selection changes RTP. In practice, it’s easiest to choose the one you prefer visually and spin from there—especially since you can swap between dragons at any point in the base game. The rules around the growing dragon symbol mechanic are a bit unclear, and Jade symbol values are half those of the Ruby dragon, so that option feels harder to judge. Even so, there’s no definitive statement that one dragon has superior stats to the other.
Whichever dragon you pick, both lead into the same bonus round. It’s a slightly unusual one too, which is good news for hold ‘n win fans. That said, Dragons Vs Gigablox’s bonus respins does echo elements of Excalibur VS Gigablox’s Highrise Respins feature. It’s a shame the VERSUS mechanic didn’t make a return, as that would have delivered a true one-on-one dragon showdown, but perhaps that’s for a future release. Notably, even without VERSUS, Dragons Vs Gigablox has the largest max multiplier in the Vs series so far, reaching 13,770x the bet. In testing, the respins round didn’t feel especially explosive, though the rules include plenty of multiplier potential. Dragons Vs Gigablox may not come across as aggressively combative as some of its Vs relatives, but its feature set stays consistent with earlier entries, and the sizeable top-end win potential is something players can keep in mind.
