Dr Reactive Mega Drop (Red7/WMS): Overview
Dr Reactive is a brand-new release from WMS partner studio Red7, and it also marks their first ever grid slot. You can play it in two versions: as a regular standalone title, or as part of the Mega Drop progressive jackpot network—which is really the version you’ll want. We recently covered another Red7 game connected to the same network, Tetris Extreme. Both titles use an alternative mechanic where symbols cascade into a grid, but beyond that they deliver very different gameplay. Grid slot fans have had a strong run lately with plenty of quality releases, so Dr Reactive has some serious rivals—does it have the right formula to compete?
To start with, the name is a touch deceptive. Dr Reactive does show up now and then, but for the most part he’s noticeably missing. That’s particularly odd given the setting is his laboratory, presented in a dark purple palette. It’s a bit of a reach, but the vibe is faintly reminiscent of the Simpsons nuclear plant—you can almost picture Homer appearing and doing something catastrophically silly. The game isn’t far off that kind of chaos: the reagents and potions on the grid occasionally interact, setting off explosions and crackling electricity. That’s exactly what you want to see. The “Reactive” part isn’t just for show, and these reactions can unlock some of the strongest moments in the game.
Before that, here’s how the core gameplay works. Using a familiar grid-slot format, Dr Reactive drops 64 symbols into an 8×8 grid every spin. Traditional paylines are removed; instead, you win when clusters of 5 or more matching symbols connect horizontally or vertically. Winning symbols vanish and are replaced as new ones fall into the gaps. As expected, a single spin can create multiple cascades of wins. Stakes range from 20 p/c per spin up to $/€100 maximum. RTP is offered in two versions: when linked to the Mega Drop jackpots it sits at a solid 96.11%, while the non-network standalone version drops to a much less appealing 94.11%.
The paytable/info area runs to 24 pages, so we’ll keep it brief. There are 6 standard paying symbols, all newly designed to match the theme. From lowest to highest they are 4 potions—red, purple, green, and orange—then a Lightning Bolt, and a DNA symbol that pays 50 times the stake for a cluster of 15. The remaining symbols are more about influencing gameplay through the bonus mechanics.
Dr Reactive Mega Drop (Red7/WMS): Features

In the base game, the wild symbol substitutes for any regular symbol and may also carry a x2-x5 multiplier. If multiple wilds contribute to the same winning cluster, they combine and their Multipliers are multiplied together. Red7 state this can reach up to 1,000x, which sounds extremely ambitious.
The atom symbol acts as a wildcard-style trigger and can activate the Lightning Bolt or DNA symbol when it lands adjacent to them. The DNA Reaction feature makes all symbols (excluding wilds) in the same row and column explode off the grid, allowing new symbols to drop in. Each DNA reaction awards 1x the bet. If the Atom lands next to the Lightning Bolt, both symbols detonate and send lightning across the grid, clearing what are clearly the lowest-paying symbols so fresh ones can tumble into place.
Next up is Free Falls. Whenever new symbols drop into the grid—whether from Lightning Reactions, DNA Reactions, or standard winning clusters—the Free Falls meter increases by 1. When the meter hits 5, or 7, then 10 or 15 Free Falls are granted. Free Falls play much like the base game, except the wilds have their multipliers doubled. Wilds also remain on the grid and reduce by 2 with each subsequent tumble; once they reach zero, they vanish. The Free Fall meter continues running, and if it reaches 5 again, an additional 5 Free Falls are awarded.
Finally, a note on Mega Drop. Each three jackpot must be won before they reach their maximum size. For the Minor this is 1,500 credits, Major it is 20,000 credits, and the Epic it is 200,000 credits. They can be won at any bet level, though the higher the stakes, the better the chance of winning one.
Dr Reactive Mega Drop (Red7/WMS): Verdict
As a debut grid slot, Dr Reactive is a decent first effort. It can deliver stretches where wins cascade repeatedly, and multiplier stacks can push payouts upward. Red7’s claim of multipliers reaching x1,000 is an eye-catching number and really begs to be seen in action. In terms of realistic potential without the jackpots, totals around 2,000 times the stake are achievable.
Compared with other games in the grid-slot space, Dr Reactive holds up reasonably well. That said, its overall feel doesn’t quite match recent standouts like Dragonfall or the grid titles from Play’n GO. If you do decide to play Dr Reactive, make sure it’s the progressive jackpot edition. With RTP several points higher and the obvious appeal of a major top prize, it’s clearly the better choice. As a standalone title outside the network, it’s one you’re better off skipping.
There are smoother grid slots with stronger upside available, and the low RTP is hard to overlook. In the end, there are enjoyable moments here, but if you’re after a proper grid slot fix, there are much stronger options on the digital shelves.
