Dinosaur Rage: Slot Overview
Following a long break, the dark-haired adventurer Anna the Explorer returns for a second quest in Quickspin’s slot Dinosaur Rage. Players first encountered Anna searching through Ancient Egyptian ruins in Ark of Mystery. This time, she’s dialled history back to an era when monstrous reptiles dominated the planet. The game doesn’t really explain how she arrived, only that she’s taking on furious dinos armed with nothing but a machete – she’s clearly fearless. As for gameplay, there’s far more winning potential than in Anna’s debut, thanks to pay-anywhere symbols, nudges, free spins, and multipliers.
Dinosaur Rage actually has a fun backstory that’s worth sharing. Quickspin began by looking at Tiger’s Glory and considering how to revisit its pay-anywhere framework. Next came the theme. You know how many kids go through a dinosaur-obsessed stage? Apparently it’s not only Ross Gellar who keeps that fascination into adulthood. One of Quickspin’s artists is equally captivated by these huge creatures. Blend those ideas together and, just like that, Dinosaur Rage was born.
That enthusiasm shows throughout, making it a strong ride for Anna’s second expedition. It’s also been a while. A couple of years have passed since her first appearance, yet she looks unchanged. If anything, time has made her glow more, with cheekbones sharpened into a kind of golden-egg-hunting Megan Fox vibe. Visually, the rest of the slot is just as polished, featuring a vivid prehistoric setting behind the 5-reel, 1,024 pay way layout, packed with smooth animation and plenty of effects. Add the title’s lettering and the ever-present lizards, and you get a playful Lara Croft meets Jurassic Park blend. That said, some players may be put off by the slightly kiddie styling (a Quickspin hallmark), so it won’t suit every taste.
A furious theme comes with equally furious volatility, scored 5 out of 5 by Quickspin, so it doesn’t get more intense. That should appeal to serious risk-takers, as should the RTP which defaults to 96.11% and rises when paying for the feature buy. The bonus purchase is certainly tempting given the strong potential on offer, though the base game has a few surprises too. Joining Anna against the dinos is possible on any device, with stakes ranging from 20 p/c to $/€100.
As for symbols, Anna is the top payer at 5x the bet for five of a kind and appears in 1×4 size. When Anna lands fully visible, she pays from any position. The four premium dinosaurs show up in 1×2- 1×4 size and award 1.75 to 2.5x the bet for five. These only gain pay-anywhere payouts when they become enraged – more on that shortly. For the lower-value set, the 10-A royals are styled using bones and teeth to complete the paytable.
Dinosaur Rage: Slot Features
Quickspin’s goal here was to play around with pay-anywhere symbols, so you’ll see them in free spins and, to a smaller extent, in the base game. Pay-anywhere is exactly what it sounds like. A symbol pays based on how many appear on a way, even when they aren’t next to each other. In the base game, this happens only when Anna the Explorer fills an entire reel. Helping this along, Anna symbols can be randomly nudged to cover the full reel, which activates the feature.
Pay-anywhere truly shines in Dinosaur Rage! Free Spins, which start when 3 or more scatters land anywhere on the screen. You’ll receive 10, 15 or 25 free spins for 3, 4, or 5 scatters in view – and you also gain 1, 2 or 3 upgrades, respectively.
Each upgrade enrages one random dinosaur, granting it the pay-anywhere property. Scatters can still appear during the bonus, and landing 3 or more awards the free spins and upgrades listed above. Once all dinosaurs are enraged, every further upgrade boosts the win multiplier by +1.
Where available, Dinosaur Rage can include a bonus buy option. There are two choices– 75x bet or 150x bet, which guarantee 3 or 4 scatters on the next spin. Using this feature lifts RTP to 96.75% or 96.95%. Aside from the RTP increase, the bonus round functions the same as when triggered naturally.
Dinosaur Rage: Slot Verdict
So, after moving from Ancient Egypt (where it feels like most slot adventurers start out) to the humid jungle of the Cretaceous, how does Anna’s second mission stack up? Very well on almost every front. Ark of Mystery signalled Quickspin’s shift toward higher volatility and bigger potential, and Dinosaur Rage pushes that approach much further. In a way, it had to; pairing enraged predators with anything milder would have felt off.
Visually, Quickspin blends danger with sex appeal to deliver a fun B-movie atmosphere. The production quality is strong, which is no surprise given Quickspin’s excellent effects work. The pay-anywhere system is also handled nicely – offering occasional teases in the base game before unleashing chaos in free spins. The feature progression builds well too, since retriggers don’t just add more enraged dinos, they also bring the crucial multiplier into play. Without multipliers, however, landing anything meaningful can be difficult, and the base game may feel a bit flat. Once multipliers climb, Dinosaur Rage can become compelling – reaching up to 17,794 times your stake.
Appropriately, Anna’s second slot is far more of a monster than her first. Quickspin has cranked up virtually every element from Ark of Mystery, resulting in a highly entertaining time-travel sequel.
