Diamond Mine Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Overview
Most of us will never actually get to wander through a real Diamond Mine, but this Blueprint Gaming online slot does a great job of delivering that digging-for-riches vibe. A fully bearded miner is on hand to guide you along the way, so you won’t be left wondering where to go next. And with any luck, you’ll uncover plenty of valuable gemstones to pocket. If a diamond turns up, you’ll definitely want to keep hold of it.
Diamond Mine is Blueprint Gaming’s first ever Megaways slot and is essentially their take on Bonanza. Because of that, the layout will feel familiar to many players: you get the standard 6 reels plus an additional horizontal reel. With each spin, the reels can display anywhere from 2 to 7 symbols in height, which means you can reach up to 117,649 win ways when everything expands to the maximum.
On the presentation front, Diamond Mine looks exactly like you’d expect from this developer. The visuals are sharp, clean, and highly entertaining. The setting is the American wild west in a cartoon-inspired style, showing the mine entrance in the background with a dry landscape beneath bright blue skies. Cacti sit on both sides of the reels, rounding out the scene nicely.
Across the six reels, you’ll spot the game’s symbol set. It starts with the card ranks: green 9, red 10, aqua J, yellow Q, orange K and purple A. Alongside these are a crossed pickaxe and spade, a miner’s lantern, and the same bearded miner. Still, the standout standard symbol is the sparkling diamond, which is the top payer and can multiply your stake by up to 50 times your stake. The diamond sticks symbol serves as the wild and only appears on the horizontal reel above reels 2 through to 5.
Diamond Mine Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Features
Diamond Mine also includes a Mystery Symbol on the reels. This appears as a barrel marked with the letters “TNT”. It can land on any reel, and when it does, it changes into any other standard symbol apart from the slot’s scatter. Because of this, having several Mystery Symbols land at once can be very rewarding.
When it comes to the scatter, it’s represented by a bag of gold. Scatters can land anywhere on the reels and will still pay out. To trigger the slot’s Free Spins feature, though, you must land at least four scatters in any positions. You receive 12 Free Spins, and for each extra scatter beyond the initial four, you’re granted an additional five spins on top of the 12. During the bonus, an Unlimited Win Multiplier is active. It begins at 1x and increases after every Reaction. Another advantage of this round is that landing three scatters during it adds five more spins, while four scatters award 10 extra Free Spins.
As for the Reaction mechanic, it triggers whenever you hit a win in either the base game or the free spins feature. In short, all symbols that form part of a winning combination are removed, allowing new symbols to drop into the empty spaces. If this creates further wins, the cycle repeats. Reactions continue until no more wins can be produced.
Diamond Mine Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Verdict
It’s hard not to speak highly of Blueprint Gaming’s Diamond Mine slot. Yes, it uses the Megaways win system seen in several other titles from the studio. Still, as their first Megaways release, it remains a favourite for many players. It may not feel as groundbreaking today as it did at launch, but it has aged very well. In fact, it outperforms most Bonanza clones that are coming out now.
All in all, Diamond Mine is a strong slot that delivers plenty of entertainment value despite its fairly high volatility. It doesn’t hit with the same intensity as some of Blueprint’s other Megaways games when it comes to the 10,000x max win. Even so, seeing a max win above 3,000x is still very unlikely—though there’s always a small possibility.
