Diamond Force Slot: Overview
Hailing from Reno, Nevada – the ‘biggest little city in the world‘ – Crazy Tooth Studio has built a reputation for making games that stick in the mind thanks to their offbeat style. Created exclusively for Microgaming, Diamond Force is arguably less out-there than earlier titles like The Incredible Balloon Machine, yet it still delivers a few genuine ‘what just happened?’ touches. With Crazy Tooth, you never quite know what’s coming next, and here they’ve gone with a comic book-inspired slot filled with a set of anonymous superheroes who combine their powers to activate features.
Visually, it’s a very vibrant game, presented in a cartoon style with a slightly unusual set of colours. The 5 reel, 4 row grid floats in mid-air, like a caped crusader hovering above a city. The game never tells you what that city is, and it also doesn’t reveal the names of the 4 heroes, which is a bit disappointing. If you’re going to add characters to give a slot more flavour, naming them is a simple win. Still, the skyline is packed with skyscrapers for a Metropolis-style feel, and it shifts around as though the reels are actually soaring overhead. The upside is that the animation can be disabled, and it’s worth doing on mobile, as it appeared to drain battery noticeably faster when left on.
The presentation is decent overall, but since this is an original title with no links to well-known comic book icons, it can come across a little like a knock-off. Think of those budget imitation toys you see in 99p shops with names such as ‘The Incredible Fella’ or ‘Spaderman’. Even so, Diamond Force is colourful and has a bit of charm, so it’s time to look at the betting, which begins at 10 p/c and go as high as $/€10 per spin. That range will suit players trying to make a bankroll last, though it’s less appealing for true high rollers. In context, however, it fits, because the game runs on a high variance math model with strong potential and an above-average RTP of 96.53%. In short, numbers that should keep would-be heroes happy.
As standard, wins are formed by landing three or more matching symbols, but they pay regardless of position. So you can connect reels 1,2,3, or 2,3,4, or 3,4,5, for example – which in total allows up to 1,024 win ways. Another surprise appears in the paytable, and it’s not a welcome one. Payouts don’t change based on how many symbols are in the win. In other words, 3, 4, or 5 high-paying symbols all return 0.2 times the stake. The same applies to the low pays, which always pay 0.1 times the stake, regardless of how many land together. Symbol-wise, the low pays are shiny, metallic J-A tiles, while the premiums are the plainly titled Purple Hero, Red Hero, Green Hero, and Blue Hero. Rounding things off is a diamond wild that substitutes for any paying symbol and shows up only on reels 1 and 5.
Diamond Force Slot: Features

Extra excitement and payouts come via the studio’s in-house, trademarked Team-Up Reels™ engine, which appears in two variations. The first, and the one you’ll see most often, is the standard Team-Up feature. Superhero symbols are 3×1 in size, and when 3 or more land fully visible, they trigger the Team-Up feature. This can be 3 of the same hero, or any mix of 3 or more. Once activated, the symbols responsible for triggering the round form a new game board where the reels display prize values and special modifiers. Each hero brings a different modifier – blue, red, purple, and green award x5, x3, x2, and high value prizes respectively. The Team-Up feature lasts for one spin, and whatever lands on the new reels is paid out before the game returns to the base mode.
The second mode is Team-Up Bonus Spins. It activates when 2 or more stacked superheroes land, along with the 3×1 Full Stack Bonus Symbol on the fifth reel. The mechanics are much like the standard Team-Up round, but this one begins with 3 free spins, and the Bonus Symbol reel can award extra spins up to 20 overall. The feature ends when the spins are used up, after which the total win is paid and players are sent back to the base game.
Diamond Force Slot: Verdict
Diamond Force comes across as a slot that needed a bit more time in development. There are some interesting ideas in the feature set, but they don’t land as strongly as they could, and a few parts feel underdeveloped. The paytable is a major example, offering only two payout values. It almost feels like there are only two symbols in play. To be fair, the bonus rounds do allow the heroes to show at least some individuality. Even then, the values that appear on the hero reels are also on the low side. For instance, the green character’s ‘high value’ diamonds pay 3 times the stake, which isn’t especially high. You can put together decent returns if the bonus symbol keeps adding spins, but huge wins are difficult to come by.
Given the superhero theme, the game world could have used more attention. The characters look the part, but again, even basic names and a little background would have made them far more engaging. Comic fans tend to love origin stories, context, and learning what makes a hero powerful – and what flaws make them relatable. For a slot leaning into the comic book concept, Diamond Force is noticeably thin in that department.
Another obvious shortfall, and one that matters more to most slot players, is the payout potential in practice. The maximum win has been recorded at a solid 13,175 times the max bet, but with such small symbol payouts and modest feature rewards, it’s difficult to imagine reaching anything close to that number.
In several respects, Diamond Force feels like a typical Crazy Tooth release: a bit unusual, a bit odd, and definitely quirky. It has flashes of fun, but it’s not the kind of slot you’d be eager to load up unless superheroes are really your thing.
