It may sound minor, but those touches count, and this one lands well. Desperate Dawgs 2 Gigablox isn’t aiming for the harsh, gritty Western vibe you might get from Dead or Alive 2; even the buzzard has a soft, almost friendly look. The presentation is more cute and canine-focused, though it still keeps things businesslike when it comes to the wagering.

To take on the Dawgs, players choose a stake from 10 p/c to $/€100 per spin on tablet, desktop, or mobile. The medium-high volatile gameplay unfolds on a grid that can expand, but it begins with 6-reels, each showing four symbols, and is set across 40 paylines. The max RTP has also been lifted compared to last time, reaching 95.5%, though alternative RTP versions may exist.

With Gigablox in play, reels can randomly merge to form oversized symbols ranging from 2×2 to 6×6 in size. These bigger Gigablox tiles are then broken down into standard symbol units to work out wins. At the bottom of the paytable sit the card suits—clubs, spades, diamonds, and hearts—followed by four premium icons: hats, pistols, badges, and the game’s logo. Six-of-a-kind line wins return 0.8-1x the bet for the suits or 2-4x the stake for the premium symbols. Finally, a full line of six wilds pays 5 times the bet, and wilds also substitute for any regular paying symbol.

Train Robber Bonus

This feature starts when 6+ red scatter symbols land. The number of free spins granted matches the number of scatters that triggered the bonus. On every free spin, 3 train wagons roll into view. Each Shot selects one value and one multiplier, and the multiplier is applied to that value. All winnings collected during the feature are added together.

Bad Boy Bonus

The Bad Boy Bonus is triggered by landing 6+ scatters on the reels, and the number of scatters awards the same number of free spins. Whenever a win hits, 1 extra row and 15 extra paylines are added to the grid. If the enlarged layout produces additional wins, they are paid out and +2 free spins are awarded. The reels can expand up to a maximum of 6×8 with 100 paylines. At least one Giga reel will appear on each free spin.

Golden Bet

The refreshed UI may have coloured our impression of the rest of the visuals, because overall Desperate Dawgs 2 Gigablox looks like an improvement on what we typically expect from a Reflex Gaming slot. It’s not flawless—now and then it still hints at an older era—but on balance it’s a more pleasant package. The presentation feels stronger, and there’s also more going on than in the previous game, with a broader set of ideas and moving parts.

A big reason is the addition of Gigablox, which is exactly what a familiar, established mechanic is supposed to contribute. To Reflex Gaming’s credit, Gigablox hasn’t simply been bolted on and forgotten. The studio has played with it in the Bad Boy Bonus, where the grid can expand in both reel height and ways to win. It’s not a groundbreaking reinvention, but it does add a bit of flavour. The other two bonus rounds are unexpectedly engaging and fit the theme nicely. They don’t immediately scream massive profit potential, though that could be misleading, and Desperate Dawgs 2 Gigablox does list a max win of 9,872x the bet, which is more than double the top prize available in Desperate Dawgs part one.

Overall, Desperate Dawgs 2 Gigablox comes across as a clear step forward for Reflex Gaming. The full package feels cleaner, more current, and simply stronger than many other Reflex Gaming releases we’ve covered. It’s not an essential, anything-goes Wild West epic where chaos reigns in the streets, but it does feel like progress, and it should offer enough entertainment for players drawn to a Western Gigablox slot starring doggies in hats.
