Das xBoot 2: Slot Overview

Some WW2 U-boats were capable of diving to around 280 meters, which is a chilling thought when you picture all that water pressing down overhead. One unlucky mine could split the hull, and, well, it’s best not to dwell on the nightmare descent as the vessel slowly floods with icy Atlantic seawater. Certain mechanics pull the action closer to the surface, giving the sub the opportunity to do what it was built for – destroying enemy ships. With torpedoes, a periscope, and touches of German sprinkled in, it’s easy to imagine yourself as a silent hunter stalking the ocean and picking off Allied targets. As with the first game, Das xBoot 2 excels at creating a claustrophobic, fear-tinged atmosphere, as mines drift by an onscreen sub far below in dark, murky waters.

Das xBoot 2 brings back the periscope-style action with an expanding third reel (among other twists), though in its standard state it runs on a 6-reel grid. Symbols land in a 2-3-4-4-3-2 pattern, creating 576 ways to win. Its volatility is labelled ‘Extreme‘, and while there are three RTP setups available, the top option is a touch lower than the usual NLC level at 95.94%. The game offers a range of optional extras such as ante bets, feature buys, and an additional bet, but players still need to pick a stake, with wagering options from $/€0.20 to $/€100.

• Periscope Up! – Reel 3 can grow up to 8 positions, and a Periscope Wild may land there. When it does, a torpedo sequence triggers: a target appears, a torpedo fires, and if it hits, the Periscope Wild expands to the top and nudges down, adding a multiplier with each nudge. A miss leaves it as a single wild. Periscope Up! can trigger randomly in the base game and Wolf Pack Spins, while in Silent Hunter Spins and Battle of the Atlantic Spins it’s always active. The Periscope Wild never nudges over symbols revealed by the Torpedo Launch.
• Torpedo Builder – In the base game and Silent Hunter Spins, landing a full 2-symbol-wide boat in the Ocular above reels 5-6 triggers the Torpedo Builder. A Torpedo tube appears under reels 2-5, and only Torpedo parts can land. Players get 3 spins to collect all 4 parts: reels 2 and 5 drop +1 to +3 xWays symbols, while reels 3 and 4 drop +1 to +3 xWays Wilds. If all parts are built, the Torpedo launches, revealing xWays behind it based on the collected values – regular split symbols on reels 2 and 5, and split wilds on reels 3 and 4.
• Golden Torpedo Builder – In the base game and Silent Hunter Spins, landing a golden boat in the Ocular triggers the Golden Torpedo Builder, where Torpedo parts only have values of either +8 or +88.

• Silent Hunter Spins – Landing 3 scatters in the main game triggers 8 Silent Hunter Spins. The Periscope Up! feature is always active in the round. Also, the Periscope Wild nudge awards a persistent multiplier that starts at x1 after the first nudge, then grows by +1 with each Periscope Wild nudge. This multiplier applies only to the spin where Periscope Wild lands and the target is hit. In all free spins features, each time an xBomb hits, an xBomb Multiplier is awarded and increases the multiplier by +1 for the rest of the round. Any time a boat lands in the Ocular, the Torpedo launches in its current state. After the Torpedo launches, an identical Torpedo is loaded, which can be enhanced on future spins.
• Battle of the Atlantic Spins – When 5 scatters land in the base game, 10 Battle of the Atlantic Spins are awarded. The Periscope Up! feature of Silent Hunter Spins and the Torpedo Builder of Wolf Pack spins are both active.

Extra Spin

Das xBoot 2: Slot Verdict

Das xBoot 2 is unquestionably larger and more layered, yet anyone who knows the original should quickly get comfortable. Most of Das xBoot’s core mechanics have been brought back for another patrol, but there are plenty of tweaks and new elements that change how they unfold and shape the overall feel, resulting in a tighter, more claustrophobic ride. Nolimit City has used what worked before as a base, then pushed forward hard, loading the sequel with extra systems, more stacked mechanics, and an even stronger focus on tension-building moments.

For starters, both the periscope and torpedo effects can now appear in the base game, whereas previously they were limited to bonus rounds. Overall, there’s simply more happening across the board. One example is the new temptation of taking down the coveted golden boat, which activates the Golden Torpedo Builder with the far heftier +8 or +88 xWays values. In fact, purely out of curiosity, one of the earliest spins during the review used the Golden Torpedo Builder feature buy, and it delivered Nein! Nein! Nein! Nein!, the game’s 59,999x max win as though it were routine. Of course, that’s not going to be the norm, but collecting torpedo parts across 3 spins is an excellent way to ramp up suspense, whether it triggers naturally or not. Periscope Up! also ties neatly into the theme, and while it didn’t outperform the torpedo action during the review, it clearly has upside. So even though it’s great having torpedoes and/or a periscope available throughout a full bonus, the fact they can appear at any point in the base game really helps deepen the sense of danger.

That said, don’t take this to mean Das xBoot 2 is some relaxed pleasure trip that showers players with cash. Even with more going on beneath the surface, it remains every bit the ruthless pressure-cooker its predecessor was. Das xBoot 2 is a strong sequel that broadens the original slot’s toolkit with more firepower, bigger mechanics across the board, and a wider range of explosive moments that can ignite at any time.
