Dam Beavers: Slot Overview
Every so often, after reviewing what feels like an endless stream of slots, it starts to seem as if the well must be running dry for fresh concepts. Then a title turns up that sweeps that feeling away by doing something genuinely different. That was the case with ELK Studios’ Pirots and Pirots 2—two games that didn’t just tweak how winning symbols are gathered, but also packed in loads of big and small touches, blurring the boundary between slot and animated series, all while overflowing with piroty character. The cast of Dam Beavers shows ELK can deliver that same charm in a new form. Here, four tiny troublemakers use ELK’s CollectR mechanic to gather symbols, drop through levels, and generally try to keep players grinning while they test their luck.
What’s amusing is how calm it all looks at first. Level 1 in Dam Beavers plays out from a Sims-like perspective of the beavers’ home, complete with a small heater in the corner, a rug, a sofa, and a sack of strawberries. It’s cosy and domestic, backed up by nature sounds and a laid-back melody. But don’t settle in too much—this is only the smallest hint of what’s coming. Things can turn properly frantic as the beavers fall into lower levels, features kick in, and the whole mood, look, and atmosphere shift as the action starts to simmer and then boil over.

In Dam Beavers, stakes run from 20 c to $/€100 per spin, and there are also five choices available via the X-iter feature buy menu. One of the game’s biggest let-downs—possibly the biggest—is the 94% RTP, which has become a familiar talking point in ELK Studios releases, even if plenty of players have come to accept it. With highly volatile behaviour, Dam Beavers begins on a 5×5 sized gaming grid at level 1, then expands as you move between levels to 6×6, 7×7, and finally reaches 8×8 at level 4.
The grid also features 4 beaver characters, each tied to one of four colours: blue, green, orange and red. Each beaver is linked to pay symbols in its matching colour. Beavers collect fruit symbols individually, but only when they can reach them via orthogonally adjacent spaces. In simple terms, if it’s a beaver’s turn and it can walk to a same-colour symbol to pick it up, it will. Pay symbols can be upgraded so their starting values move from 0.05 to 0.1 times the bet all the way up to 5 to 50 times the bet at most once symbol level 8 is reached.
Dam Beavers: Slot Features

Helping (or supercharging) the beavers as they go are the Breaking Point, multi-levels, Beaver Night Fever, feature symbols, coins, passages, MAX WIN, a feature meter, feature cards, the bonus game, and X-iter.
Feature Meter
Sitting above the reels is the feature meter, which records the fruit and wild symbols that have been collected. Beside it are 3 feature cards, with one shown face up. The remaining cards are turned over until the feature meter is completed. When the grid can’t progress any further and the meter has been filled, the face-up features are released. The possible feature types are:
- Wild scatter – a random number of symbols are replaced by wilds.
- Refresh symbols – replaces all symbols on the grid.
- Symbol Swap – two random symbol types swap paces.
Once the meter is full, a feature release is queued, and up to 3 may be pending simultaneously, activating one after another.
Feature Symbols
A feature symbol triggers when it is fully revealed and collected by a beaver. The first five appear directly on the symbol grid, while the last 3 are hidden under floorboards, which get smashed when a beaver walks across them:
- Firework – upgrades the symbol level of the beaver that collected it.
- TNT – causes explosions to remove floorboards.
- Blender – triggers an instant filling of the feature meter, overcharging the remainder where possible.
- Wild – substitutes for any fruit symbol at their current payout level.
- Coins – these are large symbols under floorboards which are collected when fully revealed. Coins may overlap, and the top coins are collected first.
- Passages – allows a beaver to move to another random position or swap position with another beaver.
- Breaking Points – 2×2 progression points. When fully revealed, play progresses to the next level. Level 4 is the lowest level where the grid is 8×8.
Whenever a breaking point is activated, all symbols are upgraded by 1 level. On level 4, the corner tiles have no floorboards, and a MAX WIN coin sits hidden beneath. Fully revealing this coin grants whatever amount is still needed to reach Dam Beavers’ max win. If you end up removing all floorboards on a level, the mini-bonus Beaver Night Fever triggers once the game halts on the current level. All paying symbols drop away, and replacements fall in—at a higher level where applicable. After Beaver Night Fever finishes, upgraded symbols return to their respective levels – before the breaking point is activated, if applicable.
Free Spins
In the base game, when beavers collect 3 pie scatters, they launch the bonus round and award 5 free spins at the current floor level. Floor level, feature meter progress, pay symbol level, and scatter symbol collection are persistent in free spins. Collecting 3 scatters during the round awards +5 more free spins, with no cap.
X-iter
Turning on X-iter mode makes it possible to purchase the following bonus options:
- Bonus Hunt – one drop with 1 bonus symbol already collected with 4 times the chance of triggering the bonus for 3x the bet.
- Eager Beaver – 10x the bet for one drop starting at floor level 2.
- Dambuster – 25x the bet for one drop starting at floor level 3.
- Bonus – 100x the bet.
- Super Bonus – 500x the bet starting on level 3 with all symbols upgraded to level 3.

Dam Beavers: Slot Verdict
When Dam Beavers hits a strong streak and you get to witness its systems properly, it becomes obvious ELK Studios is operating miles ahead of most online slot developers. There’s almost too much to pick from. At times, Dam Beavers shrugs off the “online slot” tag and feels closer to watching an animated cartoon. A genuinely engrossing one, too—clearing the floorboards to trigger Beaver Night Fever even produced a real laugh-out-loud moment. The animations, the level-to-level movement, the beavers themselves, the occasional bursts of speed as they clear symbols, launch rockets, and smash pies, plus the way the game doesn’t just descend through levels but also transforms its entire vibe as it does—watching it all unfold is a joy. Taken together, it’s a CollectR title that feels as carefully crafted as Pirots 2, and arguably even more refined.
Of course, Dam Beavers can also punish you hard when things aren’t clicking, and the return figure is disappointing, which stings given how much else there is here to enjoy. As with Pirots, it won’t suit everyone. This is a forward-leaning “slot”, so it may not appeal to traditionalists, purists, or players who want to press spin and get an almost instant result. It takes time for the beavers to wander about collecting fruit, interacting with feature symbols, and travelling between levels. For players it does click with, though, those longer animated sequences are part of the appeal. You press spin and it might fizzle out, or it might pull you into a long, unfolding ride. The best possible ride ends with uncovering the MAX WIN coin, instantly awarding the 10,000x top prize.
Dam Beavers is another reminder of just how far out on the edge the ELK team is willing to go, taking curious players somewhere they likely haven’t been before and offering new ways to potentially be entertained.
