Count Jokula: Slot Overview
How many of us have gone through life thinking, ‘Nope, that’s not me,’ only to switch things up with a new haircut, a few gym sessions, a wardrobe refresh, and finally start showing our true selves? Plenty of celebrities have done the whole reinvention thing, and now it looks like online slot characters might be doing it too. In Count Jokula, an online slot from developer Play’n GO, we may be seeing exactly that. The obvious head-scratcher is: are we looking at a vampire who decided to become a joker, or a joker who’s turned into a creature of the night? Time to dig in and see what makes sense.
When this review was written, there was no clear statement that Count Jokula belonged to Play’n GO’s sizeable Joker Series of slots, though it feels like a pretty safe bet it’ll be welcomed into the lineup. The Joker Series includes online slots with different mechanics, features, and themes, but they all share a joker-style character as the main attraction. Here, he shows up in full nosferatu mode—glowing eyes, sharp teeth, the lot. It’s clearly presented in a playful way, which suits a straightforward 3×3 fun-style game, and Count Jokula gives off vibes similar to Count Dracula from the Hotel Transylvania films. Definitely a vampire, but a friendly one nonetheless.

Count Jokula runs on a 3-reel, 3-row layout with 5 ways to win, and it only pays on three-of-a-kind combinations. Volatility sits in the middle: Play’n GO rates it 6 out of 10. The game is available in multiple RTP versions, topping out at 96.22%. It plays smoothly across devices, and stakes go from 5 p/c to $/€100 per spin.
Over in the paytable, the symbols are a quirky blend of undead-themed objects and classic fruit. Lower-value icons include cherries, lemons, grapes, and plums, while the higher pays come from chalices, daggers, and bats. A winning line returns 0.4 to 1 times the stake, and three of the premium symbols pay 1.4 to 4 times the bet. The top symbol is the Joker Wild, paying 50x the bet, and it also substitutes for all other symbols.
Count Jokula: Slot Features

Count Jokula may hint at a tangled mix of identity and contrasting imagery, but the feature set is the opposite—clean and uncomplicated. There aren’t many of them either, focusing on the Shapeshifter feature and Respins of Evil.
Shapeshifter
During non-winning spins, if the Bat symbol appears, it will shapeshift into the Joker Wild whenever doing so would complete a winning combination.
Respins of Evil
Whenever wins occur and the Joker Wild lands on the middle reel, a free respin is awarded. In the respin, the winning Joker Wild becomes sticky, and the multiplier trail shown above the reels becomes active. If a further win lands, another respin is triggered and the multiplier steps up. Every win in the respins sequence is multiplied by the current active multiplier, which can climb to a maximum value of x20. Once x20 is reached, it remains there for any additional wins during that same sequence. After the sequence finishes, the multiplier is reset. Any Joker Wilds that land on the middle reel and contribute to a win will stay sticky for the full respins sequence, even if they don’t help create later wins. If 25 consecutive respins happen, the respin sequence will automatically end.

Count Jokula: Slot Verdict
There’s no denying Count Jokula is light on content, and that’s almost certainly intentional. Working within a three-reel framework and joker-driven visuals, Play’n GO has managed to explore lots of variations in character, features, and overall setup across the wider theme—Count Jokula simply lands on the more comedic end of the spectrum. It’s not exactly side-splitting, but the Dracula/Joker mash-up can raise a grin and works as a fun gateway into the action.
It’s not a gag that stays fresh forever, and the same can be said for Count Jokula overall. Still, there’s enough going on to keep things interesting for a time—though how long will depend on the player. Shapeshifter acts like a small fallback, while the possibility of linking a long chain of Respins of Evil may be enough to keep some players hammering the spin button. From a technical standpoint, respins can deliver, and for a game that looks this simple, Count Jokula offers a striking top potential of 8,350x the bet. Given the tools available, getting anywhere near that would likely require an exceptional respin streak. Even so, it’s achievable on paper, with the chance of it happening sitting at roughly <1 in 100 million.
Even if Count Jokula doesn’t have endless replay value, fans of joker slots should still find it easy to enjoy while it lasts. It’s quick, straightforward, and the Dracula/Joker concept has its own appeal. Catching a strong respin run can be a real thrill, and if it doesn’t click for you, there’s always the option of trying one of Play’n GO’s many other closely related titles.
