Coins and Cannons: Slot Overview
Cluster pays and Coins are two areas software provider Slotmill has shown it can handle with ease, and both are combined in the studio’s swashbuckling slot Coins and Cannons. And yes, this is the next evolution of a run that includes Coin Quest and Coin Quest 2, so players can expect more Coin symbols joining up to create wins through Coin Clusters. The “quest” side has been stripped out of Coins and Cannons, so there’s no Collect Meter consuming winning symbols. Instead, payouts can be supercharged by Cannon Multiplier symbols, which total up their values before enhancing wins, whether those wins come from Coins or from any other symbols.
Coins and Cannons is pirate-themed, though it doesn’t lean into the grimy side of this unconventional (and, let’s be honest, criminal) line of work. Rather, it keeps things light, rolling along with cheerful music and bright sunshine over a quiet coastal cove. A skull-shaped rock formation makes an appearance, but Coins and Cannons isn’t a menacing, rum-soaked, eye-patched rogue of a game—at least in terms of theme. From a math perspective, though, it is highly volatile, so the ride can still get rough.

The action takes place on a 6×6 gaming grid. As a cluster pays slot, a win is formed when 5 or more matching symbols connect horizontally and/or vertically, awarding a payout and setting off the Avalanche mechanic. Alongside three feature buys, players can choose base stakes of 20 c to $/€50 per spin, plus the Xtra-Bet and Boost Mode options. Turning on the Xtra-Bet increases the base bet by 50%, making it 2.6 times more likely to trigger free spins. Boost Mode offers a faster way to play, letting players select a stake and a number of spins via a much more streamlined interface. On paper, Coins and Cannons has an RTP of 96.08%.
Pay symbols include diamonds, clubs, hearts, spades, blue gems, green gems, red gems, purple gems, and a pirate skull. A 5-symbol cluster pays 0.2 to 1.2 times the bet, while clusters of 14+ symbols are worth 6 to 100 times the bet. A second skull appears on the wild symbol, which substitutes for all symbols except scatters. When wilds substitute for Coins, they carry a value of 0x.
Coins and Cannons: Slot Features

Coins and Cannons comes with Avalanches, Coin Clusters, Multiplier Cannons, free spins, super free spins, and Fast Track feature buys.
Avalanche
Any winning symbols, along with any non-winning symbols of the same type as those winners, pop off the reels, opening up space for new symbols to drop in. After a win, a wild symbol is placed into one of the empty positions before the remaining symbols tumble down. The Avalanche feature keeps running as long as fresh winning combinations continue to land.
Coin Clusters
Coin symbols appear with values of 1 to 40 times the bet. When Coins form a winning cluster of 5 or more, their bet multiplier values are paid out. Once the win is awarded, the Coin cluster detonates, and 1 new Coin showing the total Coin Cluster’s win value drops into one of the empty spaces. Coin Cluster wins do not create a wild symbol.
Bet Multiplier
The Multiplier Canon symbol lands with a value of x2 to x100. When no further wins remain, the values of all Multiplier Cannons on screen are added together and applied to the payout.
Free Spins & Super Free Spins
Hitting 3 scatter symbols in the base game awards 10 free spins. During free spins, Coin symbols remain on the reels at the bottom of the grid until the feature ends, ready to contribute to new winning clusters. Landing a +1 symbol in the bonus adds one extra free spin.
Landing 2 regular scatters along with 1 super free spins scatter grants 10 super free spins. In this mode, a Multiplier Cannon symbol is guaranteed to land on every spin. The same mechanics from the free spins round also apply during super free spins.
Fast Track
Fast Track is the purchase menu where players can buy a round that guarantees a Multiplier Cannon for 40x the bet, free spins for 100x the bet, or super free spins for 500x the bet.

Coins and Cannons: Slot Verdict
Long-time Slotmill fans can relax. After the studio caught us off guard with the more commercial direction of Raging Riches, Slotmill feels back on familiar territory. Fair enough—everyone has to keep the lights on, and the pull of the North American market is hard to ignore. If Raging Riches is the kind of title meant to attract that audience, then so be it. In the same way a close friend might try out a totally different style—say, going cybergoth to impress someone new—only to be back in jeans and a hoodie the next week, Coins and Cannons marks a return to the Slotmill approach that has earned players’ loyalty since games like Fruit Smash / Super Fruit Smash, Money Jar / Money Jar 2, and Tyrant’s Fall.
Of course, Coins and Cannons sits closest to Coin Quest and Coin Quest 2. The obvious links are the Coins and the Coin Clusters feature. Still, the standout “Coin pile” effect at the bottom of the grid shouldn’t be overlooked either. It adds a distinctive, thrilling layer as one Coin cluster disappears and compresses into a single Coin, which might later be absorbed into another cluster, which then consolidates again—repeating in a way that feels a bit like My Suika or 2048. The finishing touch—though with cannons involved, maybe it’s more like lighting the fuse—is the Multiplier Cannon symbol, which can boost wins. And it boosts all wins, not only Coin wins.
In certain respects, Coins and Cannons is a more straightforward experience than the Coin Quest titles because there’s no quest (no Collect Meter to fill) required to reach or build a multiplier. That doesn’t make it easy, but it does make it simpler, since multipliers either appear as Cannon Multiplier symbols or they don’t. In super free spins, however, they land every spin. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the Gates of Olympus approach or something Hacksaw Gaming might put together, just with a stack of smart Slotmill twists layered in. With a 15,000x the bet max win on top, Coins and Cannons feels like Slotmill back in form: a very playable slot with a strong feature progression.
