Chomplings: Slot Overview
One trait we share with almost every other creature on this planet is the need to eat. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, fruitarian, or you’ll try anything you can chew, it’s all the same in one respect: our bodies need fuel. In Print Studios’ imagination, that idea stretches beyond Earth too, inspiring an offbeat slot called Chomplings. Here, the Chompling characters roam a game grid gobbling up items—sometimes even other Chomplings in a touch of cannibalism—echoing the vibe of ELK Studios’ Pirots slots, but with a distinct Print Studios twist.
Somewhere in a distant patch of the cosmos, amid stone blocks drifting through a nebula, lies the Chomplings’ home. For clarity: Chomplings are adorable little critters with what you might call an unhealthy fixation on eating. As strange as the setting and characters are, one of the oddest details is that, light years from Earth, this alien species grooves to surprisingly funky muzak. The soundtrack isn’t bad at all—it just feels slightly unexpected in such an otherworldly place. Or maybe it suits the tone perfectly, since this is a cute game. Let’s mull it over while we chew through the details.

Chomplings runs on an 8×8 grid filled with symbols, Chomplings, and walls that split the grid into separate regions. The Chomplings’ mission is to wander wherever possible and devour anything they can bite into—each other included. They can move orthogonally but not through walls. Each spin displays a win value beside a progress bar. The progress bar is filled as symbols get eaten from the grid. Once the bar is full, the current win multiplied by the current win multiplier is paid out. After that, the bar resets and a fresh win amount appears. The possible win values range from 0.1 to 100 times the bet.
Alongside three optional feature bet buys, players also need to pick their normal stake, ranging from 20 c to $/€50 per round. Chomplings will suit players who enjoy high volatility, and with standard wagering, the default RTP is 96.1%.
Chomplings: Slot Features

As the Chomplings go about their feeding frenzy, they can run into regular gems, premium gems, and feature symbols. When a wall gets in a Chompling’s way, it may stomp the ground in an attempt to knock it down. Every Chompling has a chance to remove a wall after a region has been cleared.
Chomplings can also eat each other, which charges up their headgear by one level for each Chompling consumed:
- Wingrid can relocate by flying to a different position when a region is cleared.
- Rocky smashes any wall down when a region is cleared.
- Zuck snorts gems in from a distant region.
- Gemma turns all regular gems into premium – if only premiums exist, their values are increased.
Gems appear in 6 flavours, in either regular or premium form. Premium gems fill the progress bar more than regular ones. The board can also contain the following symbols, which trigger when eaten:
- Multiplier Rocks – add a fixed boost to the win multiplier up to x100 or double it.
- Egg – hatches 1 Chompling.
- Egg Pile – hatches up to 4 Chomplings.
- Wormhole – 2 wormholes may appear when a grid generates; they let a Chompling access a new area when stepped in.
- Instant Prize – may appear each time a grid is generated and awards a prize of up to 100x the bet when consumed.
Every Chompling has a chance to remove a wall after clearing a region, and once all Chomplings stop moving, there’s a chance the walls rotate. If the Chomplings eat everything on the board, the grid regenerates. They’ll keep travelling across the grid for as long as there’s something they can reach to eat.
Feature Bet
The Small Snack, costing 4x, guarantees a win, while the Big Bite, at 100x, boosts the likelihood of special features and higher-value symbols. At 300x, Chomping Chaos guarantees a win, raises the chance of special features and valuable symbols, and upgrades all gems to premium.

Chomplings: Slot Verdict
To circle back to the opening point, Chomplings does share some—whether subtle or obvious—similarities with ELK Studios’ Pirots slots, and it’s difficult not to make the comparison. Four characters roaming a board and eating things, with no reels, rows, or paylines in sight, feels very familiar. Still, it’s a huge world and an even bigger universe, and there’s room for adjacent ideas to exist side by side. Besides, plenty of slots on the market are far more alike than they are different.
That said, Chomplings isn’t simply a carbon copy. A studio responsible for inventive titles like Big Stack Lumberjack, Darkness, Royal Potato and plenty of other oddities isn’t known for just mimicking someone else’s work. Even if comparisons are inevitable, Chomplings puts its own spin on the roaming-and-eating concept. For one, the Chomplings tend to consume something on most spins, so while not every spin pays, the steady movement on the grid keeps things lively. And for players who want guaranteed action every round, the Small Snack feature bet is always there. The pace didn’t feel quite as frantic as Pirots slots can get with their wild animations, bombs, dynamite, coin game, and more, but extended chomping streaks are absolutely on the cards—especially with a top win potential of 20,000x the bet.
By the end of the playtest, Chomplings came across as a fun interpretation of the movement-and-feeding formula that could appeal to a slightly different type of gambler than its rivals. In broad terms, perhaps those with more patience—players less dazzled by visual fireworks and less focused on instant hits. With that in mind, Chomplings may not land with the same mainstream pull, but it’s a playful take on the Pirots-style idea.
