Cash Quest: Slot Overview
In other types of entertainment, a “quest” usually means heroes hunting for holy grails, philosopher’s stones, or saving the world from darkness. In slot games, quests tend to be aimed at players with one goal in mind: cash. A perfect illustration is Cash Quest, a fantasy grid slot from Hacksaw Gaming. Here, you’re dropped into a swords-and-sorcery setting where the mission is to gather treasure, powered by cluster pays, cascades, the trademarked multi-modifying Boostbar, and free spins.
As Hacksaw describes it, Cash Quest is a ‘magnificent adventure game set in a magical forest with swords, skulls and great treasure…‘—which is pretty much exactly what you see when it loads. Visually, the studio hasn’t pushed things too far, and it’s not as stylistically distinctive as some of their more unusual releases (think Toshi Video Club). Instead, Cash Quest keeps things pleasantly understated. A light, medieval-leaning tune plays in the background, with upbeat popping effects as symbols drop in to set the adventuring tone.
The action takes place on a 6 row by 6 column grid, where winning clusters form when 5 or more matching symbols connect vertically or horizontally. Any win is cleared via the cascade feature, letting new symbols fall into the empty spaces and continuing until no further wins appear. From a maths perspective, Cash Quest sits at medium volatile, and the RTP is offered in two versions: 96.32% when playing normally, and a slightly higher 96.36% when purchasing free spins.
With stakes ranging from 20 p/c to $/€100 per spin, the game uses 10 charming sprite-style pay symbols. In ascending order they are bones, skulls, boots, meat, shields, bottles, gold tokens, swords, dragons, and gold jewellery. Clusters can reach 26+ symbols, and the payout for landing that amount ranges from 15 to 25 times your stake. A blue stone ‘W’ acts as the wild symbol, appearing anywhere on the grid to replace all symbols except the free spins icon.
Cash Quest: Slot Features
Cash Quest includes a Boostbar mechanic that drops different modifiers into play. You can encounter this feature both in the base game and after free spins have been activated.
Boostbar
When the ‘BB’ book symbol lands, it activates the Boostbar feature. The logo above the grid slides aside, revealing 4 special modifier symbols on the Boostbar:
- Blocking Stones – these function as dead spaces, occupying room on the Boostbar.
- Magic Lantern – this jumps onto the grid and wipes all symbols away, so fresh ones can drop in.
- Splitter Symbols – these may be any pay symbol marked with a green number from 5 to 30. When triggered, that exact number of symbols leap onto the grid.
- Wilds – between 5 and 30 wild symbols are placed onto the game board.
- Symbol Multipliers – this can attach to any pay symbol, showing a multiplier from x2 to x30 in the top-right corner. If a matching cluster lands, its win is multiplied by that value.
- Global Multipliers – values from x2 to x100 that apply to every win in the current round. If multiple Global Multipliers are visible, their values are added together before being applied.

Free Spins
Hitting 3 scatter symbols during the base game grants 10 free spins. The free spins round contains more Boostbar activator symbols than the main game, but it cannot be retriggered. There are also small changes to the values awarded by the different Boostbar modifiers.
Feature Buy
For players who have access to it, the bonus can be purchased: 10 free spins cost 119 times the total bet. This immediately starts the free spins round and increases the RTP from 96.32% to 96.36% for that round.
Cash Quest: Slot Verdict
Cash Quest may not be one of those Hacksaw titles that completely sticks with you, but it still delivers as a strong grid slot in most respects. If any studio has their grid-slot machine running at full speed, it’s this one. Hacksaw’s approach has been refined through several standout releases, and Cash Quest is another solid showcase of how they combine visuals, audio, and features with that extra playable spark. Their slots have a way of making “just one more spin” feel natural, and even if Cash Quest isn’t their most gripping effort, it’s still easy to keep going.
It’s a shame Hacksaw doesn’t share details like bonus frequency, which would make game-to-game comparisons much simpler. Still, from experience, one of the enjoyable aspects of Cash Quest was that free spins seemed to land organically more often than in some other studio releases. Without naming names, a few Hacksaw bonus rounds have historically been tougher to trigger, arguably making them more attractive to bonus buy players. Cash Quest feels less demanding in that regard. Plus, the same Boostbar modifiers found in free spins can also appear in the base game—just not as often.
Chances are the Boostbar is where Cash Quest creates its biggest highlights. This isn’t a Hacksaw slot built around slowly stacking a multiplier or collecting wilds before unleashing them in a tense crescendo. Instead, the larger wins tend to come from suddenly dropping a big batch of premium symbols or landing a multiplier (or two). It’s more spontaneous, with results that can arrive out of nowhere. The upside is that it can happen at any time, regardless of which part of the game you’re in. Catch a hot streak, and Cash Quest can pay up to 7,500x the bet.
Overall, Cash Quest stands as another dependable grid slot from Hacksaw Gaming. It may not linger in your mind like some of their heavyweighs, but its friendly presentation, feature set, and win potential make it every bit as playable as the rest.
