When studios push hard for originality, clarity is often the first thing to suffer. Still, odd doesn’t automatically equal poor, and even if NetEnt’s Cash-O-Matic can feel as baffling as algebra at the start, the layered mechanics and slightly dated presentation shouldn’t put you off. Cash-O-Matic is, in fact, a solid slot and one that may well win you over with time. Featuring 5 reels, 4 rows and 1024 ways to win, it runs on a symbol-drop engine where winning icons stay on the reels while fresh ones fall into place—an approach that can produce multipliers up to 50x in the Free Spins game. Available on all devices with stakes from 20 cents to 400€ per spin, it’s far less complicated in practice than it first seems.

The realistic top potential sits at roughly 2000 times your stake (around once every 22 million spins), though in most cases the best you can reasonably hope for is a 500 to 1000x hit on this slot.

To be blunt, Cash-O-Matic isn’t among the prettiest slots available, and the gameplay may feel a little slow-going at first. But if you recognise what it can do and give it time, there’s a good chance it will start to click—perhaps even become a favourite. For us, it shifted from a confusing tangle into a charming, surprisingly absorbing little machine.
