Cash in Transit: Slot Overview

In slots, much like in real life, once you strike gold you want to keep striking it—again, and again, and again. That seems to have been the mindset at Relax Gaming after it hit the jackpot, in a huge way, with the Money Train series. Off the back of Money Train came a run of Money Cart slots, which heavily simplified the base game to push players into the bonus round more often. They also served as a workaround for players who couldn’t use feature buys—UK gamblers, for instance—making it quicker to reach the hold ‘n’ win. Staying even closer to home, Relax Gaming has now launched Cash in Transit, essentially a version of Money Cart 3, but re-skinned with a crime theme set on the streets of Britain.

Cash in Transit’s grid is plastered onto the rear doors of a van parked on a London street. You’d assume it’s the getaway motor, waiting with the engine running while the crew carries out the smash-and-grab before jumping in and speeding off to lay low. There isn’t a train anywhere to be seen here, even though London is known for its underground network. That said, these days less than half of the London Underground is actually above ground. So rather than locomotives, Cash in Transit leans into a cops ‘n’ robbers setup, featuring shady criminals and courageous lawmen.

Cash in Transit is a high volatile slot that takes bets of 10 c to $/€100 per spin and comes shipped with 96% RTP. The slot is split between a base game where only blank spaces or bonus-related symbols may land on its 5×4 game area and a hold ‘n’ respin bonus round. Special symbols contribute to triggering the respins feature.

Hitting 3 or more bonus symbols starts the respins round, awarding 3 respins. Each time a new symbol lands, it resets the count back to 3. If a reel fills with symbols, an additional reel opens up. This can happen twice. In the feature, the following symbols can appear and remain locked on the reels:

  • Cash Bag – displays a value of 1 to 10 coins.
  • Bag Man – collects all visible values and adds them to its own value.
  • Bag Man/Money Man – chooses 3 to 5 symbols, adds their values to its own, and pays the increased value to each selected symbol.
  • Lock Smith – doubles the value of 3 to 8 other symbols. Can target the same symbol more than once.
  • Gov’Nor – reactivates 2 to 7 previously used non-persistent symbols (Bag Man, Bag Man/Money Man, Lock Smith, Detective, or Constable). Can target the same symbol more than once.
  • Pawn Broker – collects all cash bags and clears them from the reels, including other Pawn Brokers, creating more space. Feature symbols stay on the reels.
  • Detective – picks a random symbol and doubles its value 2 to 6 times.
  • Constable – reveals a coin value of 5 to 100, then adds that revealed amount 3 to 10 times to a random symbol.
  • Persistent Bag Man – gathers all visible values and adds them to its own value at the end of the spin and every spin after. Does not collect its own value.
  • Persistent Lock Smith – doubles the value of 3 to 8 other symbols at the end of the spin and on all following spins. Can target the same symbol more than once.
  • Persistent Bag Man/Money Man – at the end of each spin, selects 3 to 5 symbols, adds their values to its own, and pays the updated value to each chosen symbol.
  • Persistent Gov’Nor – reactivates 1 to 7 already used non-persistent special symbols (Bag Man, Bag Man/Money Man, Lock Smith, Detective, or Constable). Can target the same symbol more than once.
  • Persistent Attack Dog – transforms into a different special symbol after every spin (Bag Man, Bag Man/Money Man, Lock Smith, Detective, or Constable).

Cash in Transit: Slot Verdict

It’s a bit odd—there was a time when a new Money Train or Money Cart slot felt like a major event; these days, not so much. If Relax Gaming returned to the drawing board and built Money Train 5, it might be their best chance to steady a studio that currently looks to be in a steep slide. Instead, Relax Gaming appears more focused on pushing out Dream Drop titles between slot releases that, overall, haven’t been especially strong for a while. Cash in Transit is another release that didn’t spark much buzz. Still, it has its moments. The cops ‘n’ robbers theme has established a niche in the online slot world, and it can be entertaining as long as you don’t take it too seriously. Even so, Cash in Transit’s look and feel doesn’t command the screen the way a 1,000-ton train covered in skulls and pipes does.

So, it’s a different take—and who knows? Players who aren’t into trains might prefer the outlaw angle as they try to reach the series’ well-known hold ‘n’ win round. Once you’re in, anything can happen. One session might be nothing but cash bags; another could rain down multiple special symbols that combine and build into a bigger and bigger payoff. That range of outcomes is exactly what Money Train/Money Cart slots can deliver. And once again, persistent symbols are the key—get a few of them working together and it becomes genuinely satisfying.

A brief note on win potential. Although the game advertises wins up to 100,000, that figure is in coins. With a coin valued at 0.1 of the stake, the maximum win here is 10,000x the bet. Overall, Cash in Transit offers a different route into the Money Cart experience, but it doesn’t quite land with the same impact as its train-themed relatives.
