Cash Express: Slot Overview

If you were told there’s a Western slot with a streak-style respin bonus that plays out beside an old locomotive, it’d be easy to think of Relax Gaming’s blockbuster Money Train or Money Train 2. Still, Cash Express isn’t Money Train, even if the naming feels amusingly close. This time it’s Stakelogic taking players to the Wild West with a gunslinger-packed slot that uses a scatter-collection mechanic to unlock special Enhancer symbols, which then come into play during the hold & win Cash Bonus feature.

Rolling into the scene is a train carrying the game’s 5×3, 25-payline reel-set. The surroundings are fairly tight, though cutscenes reveal a dusty frontier town with wooden buildings and a dirt road. Beyond that, it’s familiar territory for the theme: pistol-wielding outlaws and lawfolk, a few badges, and not a lot that truly sets Cash Express apart from many similar Western slots.

Designed for play on any device, Cash Express also includes Stakelogic’s ever-present Super Stake feature. Standard wagering runs from 25 p/c to $/€12.50 per spin, while enabling Super Stake shifts that to 35 p/c to $/€17.50. Turning Super Stake on increases the chance of triggering the bonus game. Whichever route you take, the listed RTP stays at 95.7%, and volatility is rated medium-high.

The eight regular pay symbols award wins when three or more land left to right on consecutive reels starting from the left side. Four are J-A card ranks paying up to 2x the bet for five of a kind, while the other four are gun-slinging characters paying 8-20 times your stake for a five-symbol line. Wild sheriff badges can appear on any reel, substitute for all symbols except train symbols, and carry the same payout as the top premium symbol.

Cash Express: Slot Features

Cash Express combines collecting train symbols to open up Enhancers, which can then be applied during the Cash Bonus feature once it’s triggered or purchased.

Cash Bonus Feature

Hit 6 or more train symbols in the base game to trigger the Cash Bonus feature along with 3 respins. In this mode, train symbols may be blank, or they may display multiplier values. When new symbols appear, they fall to the lowest possible position and resetting the number of spins back to 3. Next, filling the bottom row with 5 symbols awards any respective multipliers and removes them from the grid. Any remaining symbols then drop into the lowest available spaces on their reels, and the respins are restored to 3. Once the respins are exhausted, the accumulated multiplier total is applied to the stake and paid out.

Cash Bonus Enhancers

Each time train symbols show up in the base game, they count as a step toward unlocking Bonus Enhancers. Progress is shown on the meters above the reels, and it’s stored per stake level if you choose to adjust your bet. Any Enhancers you unlock remain available until the Cash Bonus feature is activated, at which point they are used. After the free spins end and you return to the base game, the collection progress resets. Every Enhancer has a specific impact on the bonus round:

  • 1st Enhancer – reveals a multiplier value of x2 to x30.
  • 2nd Enhancer – reveals a multiplier value of x2 to x50 and adds it to all others on the grid.
  • 3rd Enhancer – reveals a multiplier value of x2 to x50 and adds an extra row to the grid.
  • 4th Enhancer – reveals a multiplier value of x2 to x100 and collects all other multiplier values in view.

Buy Bonus

Where available, players can choose to purchase the bonus round instead of relying on the collection/trigger process. It costs 140x the bet and awards random Enhancers to accompany the free spins.

Gamble

After any win, players have the option to gamble the prize amount. Correctly choosing the colour or suit of a face-down card doubles or quadruples the payout, but an incorrect pick forfeits the entire win.

Cash Express: Slot Verdict

This is a slightly peculiar release. In a way, the more Stakelogic seemed to avoid being Money Train, the more Cash Express ended up feeling adjacent to it. The core mechanics do differ, so it’s hard to label Cash Express a direct clone. At the same time, it’s also difficult to call it a standout title. Some of the feature design felt clunky in practice, which reduced the overall fun, and the “new ideas” could just as easily put players off as encourage them to try it.

The bonus round is especially unconventional, largely because you must build symbols across the bottom row before their multipliers can be collected. It’s unclear whether that approach will appeal compared to the more typical sticky money-symbol format. It also creates an odd feeling when the feature ends with multiple money symbols still visible but ignored because the bottom-row requirement wasn’t met. Blue, zero-value train symbols frequently blocked space, while other symbols stacked up higher on reels and never contributed because they didn’t reach the bottom row. At its best, Cash Express could be decent, but more often it came across as fiddly and awkward.

The collection mechanic may also be a sticking point. Sometimes the bonus triggers before you’ve unlocked even a single Enhancer, and once it finishes you’re back to collecting from the beginning. That can make the Buy Bonus feel tempting, yet it’s expensive, especially when Money Train bonuses can be purchased for 80-100x and don’t come with the same dead train symbols or the bottom-row “waste” issue.

Ultimately, Cash Express sits in an odd middle ground between fresh touches and clear inspiration. One side pushes to do something different, while the other leans on a hugely popular formula with mixed success. Credit to Stakelogic for experimenting, but Cash Express feels a bit untidy and is overshadowed by more thrilling hold & win style slots. No need to name names again—there’s an obvious frontrunner in the space Cash Express is aiming for.
