Candy Glyph: Slot Overview
In 2019, before the world was fully swept up in Covid, lockdowns, and social distancing, software developer Quickspin took its first step into the cluster-pay space with Golden Glyph. It was a solid debut, which later led to Golden Glyph 2 and then Golden Glyph 3. Now it seems the studio has moved on from Ancient Egypt but still wanted to revisit the core mechanics behind the original Glyph title. The result is Candy Glyph, essentially a reskin that swaps the Egyptian backdrop for pinatas and sugary treats.
So you won’t be spotting statues, pharaohs, or pyramids here. Instead, the theme leans into pinatas, candy, string flags, and cacti—one of them sporting a sombrero. Even though we’re 4 years on (at the time of review), and Candy Glyph looks pleasant enough, it doesn’t pop quite like the three Glyph games. It’s not unpleasant to look at, but Golden Glyph simply had more visual punch.

Anyone who doesn’t like surprises may appreciate that Candy Glyph mirrors the same key stats as the game it’s based on. That includes an RTP of 96.19% (with lower versions also available) and a medium volatile math model. Stakes run from 20 c to $/€100 per paid round, and each spin drops 49 symbols onto a 7×7 sized game grid in search of winning clusters. To create a cluster, you need at least 5 matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically.
The paytable is made up of candy symbols, with 7 standard pay icons: a blue triangle, a green square, a doughnut-shaped sweet, a kidney-shaped one, an orange slice one, a star, and a pepper-shaped candy. A 5-symbol cluster pays 0.1 to 1 times the bet, while the biggest clusters—15+ symbols—return 7.5 to 250 times the bet. When wilds land, they can replace any symbol except Power Wilds or Pinata Glyph Wilds, and they are removed by tumbles when they help form a win. The tumble mechanic runs throughout the game, clearing winning clusters and letting new symbols fall in to fill the gaps. Tumbling stops once no further winning clusters appear.
Candy Glyph: Slot Features

Candy Glyph also copies Golden Glyph’s feature set, though this time a few elements are presented under new labels. Some names have changed, while others remain the same.
Power Wild
Whenever a winning cluster is cleared from the reels, a Power Wild is placed in one of the empty spaces before the symbol drop happens. Power Wilds are checked and removed the same way as standard wilds. The difference is that each time a Power Wild is removed, one of the Power-Ups located next to the reels is activated. If the free spins Power-Up triggers, any unused Power Wilds are transformed into wilds, and no more Power Wilds will be added for the remainder of that spin.
Power-Up Feature
At the beginning of every spin, 5 Power-Ups are randomly displayed by the grid, with the fifth Power-Up always free spins. The first four Power-Ups may be the Bonbon Rocket, Lollipop Rocket, or Bouncy Bean, and they are triggered by each Power Wild that gets consumed as part of a win. Once tumble wins finish, any activated Power-Ups are awarded in the order they were activated, then removed:
- Bonbon Bomb – lands on the grid and removes all high and low pay symbols in its row and column. Each removed symbol awards 1/20 of the bet.
- Lollipop Rocket – removes a randomly chosen low-pay symbol type. Each removed symbol awards 1/20 of the bet.
- Bouncy Bean – spawns 4 to 10 randomly placed wild symbols.
Free Spins
When free spins are triggered in the base game, the player receives 9 free spins. If it happens during the free spins round, then +3 free spins are added. On the first free spin, the Pinata Glyph Wild appears in a random location and substitutes for regular pay symbols. It begins with a starting multiplier of x1, which increases by +1 per tumble if the Pinata Glyph Wild is part of at least one winning cluster. This Pinata Glyph Wild does not tumble and is not removed by tumbles; instead, it stays in play and its multiplier carries into the next free spin until the feature ends. Each free spin, the Pinata Glyph Wild moves to a random position.

Candy Glyph: Slot Verdict
As noted earlier, Golden Glyph was Quickspin’s first cluster-paying grid slot, and it was a fun first attempt. After that came Golden Glyph 2 and Golden Glyph 3, and now the Quickspin crew has pivoted away from Ancient Egypt with Candy Glyph. “Soft fork” is probably the better term, since Candy Glyph is effectively a clone. The link between Ancient Egypt and candy is difficult to pin down, but sweets are a proven crowd-pleaser in online gambling, so it’s easy to see why Quickspin chose a broad-appeal theme for a reskinned copy.
The upshot is that unless you’re especially into pinatas or sugary visuals, Candy Glyph doesn’t really offer anything beyond what Golden Glyph already did. Ancient Egypt may be just as overused (if not more), but the Glyph games were more of a visual standout than Candy Glyph—though aesthetics are always subjective. Beyond the new coat of paint, it’s the same package: strong playability, a satisfying mix of tumbles, Power Wilds, and Power Up features, plus a moving multiplier wild during free spins. That feature set has delivered wins of up to 13,185x the bet. It didn’t exactly set the pulse racing, but Candy Glyph wasn’t a chore to play either. A bonus buy could have been a welcome extra for some players—maybe next time.
By the end of the review, the takeaway was that Candy Glyph is neither clearly better nor clearly worse than the slot it was copied from. Since the stats and gameplay match, choosing between them really comes down to your taste—pyramids or pinatas?
