Bounty Raid: Overview

Developer Red Tiger is gearing up to roll out yet another Western-themed slot. A long-time crowd-pleaser, the Wild West and its larger-than-life cast still offer plenty of material for colourful games. This time around, the spotlight shifts to a less common lead in slots – the enigmatic bounty hunter.

Adding another curveball, the main character is a female bounty hunter. Still, beyond that small switch-up and a decent feature, there isn’t a whole lot here to get overly excited about. After exploring its mix of heroes, villains, and troublemakers, you can decide where it lands.

Visually, Bounty Raid is easy on the eyes. Whatever you think of Red Tiger’s catalogue, their games are seldom unattractive. The familiar 5-reel, 10-payline layout is wrapped in stylish cowboy trim, with skulls set into curved framing that would look right at home in any saloon from here to Santa Fe. Behind the reels, a high-speed chase plays out from the bounty hunter’s perspective. It’s a slightly different angle, and together with the soundtrack it creates a strong first impression.

Next comes the stake setup, letting players join the Western action from 10 p/c to $/€100 a pop. As is often the case with a Red Tiger slot, the RTP sits a little low at 95.71%. It’s not a massive drop, but considering how many Western slots deliver stronger numbers, it’s enough to make you hesitate. Hit rate and volatility are both rated 3 out of 5, so combined with the modest max win, this isn’t exactly a high-intensity bounty chase.

When it comes to the rules, things stay straightforward, beginning with 10 easy-to-understand paylines where wins can land. Winning combinations are made by 3 or more matching symbols on a payline, left to right, starting from the first reel, just as you’d expect.

There’s something about the Wild West that makes it a natural fit for slot themes, and symbols are one of the richest areas to play with. Bounty Raid’s paytable begins with steel-edged card suits – diamonds, hearts, clubs, and spades at the lower end. Above them sit the premium icons – boots, hats, saddles, pistols, and a big ‘ole chest of gold coins. Five-of-a-kind prizes run from 1x for clubs up to 8x for a line of gold chests. Notably, Red Tiger has chosen to leave out a wild symbol, though several special symbols appear in the next section to help lift returns.

Bounty Raid: Features

The hard-charging bounty hunter is the face of Bounty Raid and the trigger for its sole feature. This tough-looking lady, not someone you’d want to cross, shows up as a non-paying 1×2 scatter symbol on the third reel only. When she lands, any bandits currently showing on the reels are held in place for the Bounty Hunter respin feature.

During the respins, if an additional bandit symbol or a gold coin symbol lands, the feature is retriggered. Each bandit carries a prize value that is collected as the round continues, with individual amounts reaching up to x50 at most. If no new symbols land, the total of all bandit values is added together and paid out.

Two other symbols can also appear in the respins – the Sheriff and the Gold Coin. Each time a gold coin lands, it boosts the value of every visible bandit symbol. The Sheriff helps too: when he appears, he corrals the bandits by merging all their values into one. Only one Sheriff can be on the reels at a time, and he may land on any reel except the middle one.

Bounty Raid: Verdict

Bounty Raid starts off on a positive note thanks to solid visuals and audio, an area where Red Tiger often delivers. But after a handful of spins, it felt a bit like overdoing pappy’s moonshine – things went south in a hurry.

The biggest problem is that it doesn’t give you much reason to stick around. Beyond the agreeable Wild West vibe, Bounty Raid falls behind in nearly every other category. Few features, few thrills, and limited potential. Sure, some players will be happy to jump in for a laid-back raid, drawn in by the theme. Still, it’s hard not to wonder why, given the number of more enticing Western slots available.

Outside of Domino Harvey, female bounty hunters aren’t exactly common, so credit for the girl-power nod, perhaps. Beyond that, there’s not much here to get genuinely fired up about. The max win is a big sticking point. At 1,000 times the stake, most real bounty hunters wouldn’t even bother taking the job—it simply wouldn’t pay enough. Especially when the iGaming West offers much bigger rewards, higher RTPs, and more engaging features. To be fair, the respin round can be enjoyable when it builds some momentum. But since respins are the whole show, once you’ve experienced them, that’s pretty much it—Daffy-style, that’s all folks.

All told, Bounty Raid may work best for players who are just testing the waters of the Western genre and don’t want anything too intense. Not everyone is looking to ride the wildest bronco in the stable. Even so, most players want more value for their stake, and that can be hard to come by in Bounty Raid.
