Blademaster: Slot Overview
Blademaster is a release from Hacksaw Gaming pals Backseat Gaming, a relatively fresh studio with four titles to its name at the time of writing. This entry leans into fantasy combat and includes the Blademaster mechanic, free spins featuring a global multiplier, plus a bonus buy option.
Backseat Gaming has filled Blademaster with a gritty swords-and-axes fantasy setting. The base game plays out in a mountain village, with ramshackle wooden huts and horned decorations scattered around. Orcs seem to be the locals, and oddly there’s no obvious human-versus-orc conflict on display. Overall, Blademaster gives off a Warhammer/World of Warcraft-style vibe that should appeal to players who enjoy fantasy gaming themes—or anyone keen to spin an orc-focused slot.

Backseat Gaming clearly enjoys the 5×5 reel-and-row setup, and Blademaster follows suit, running on 19 paylines. Wins are formed by matching symbols left to right starting from the far-left reel. Under the hood is a medium volatile math model (rated 3 out of 5), with a default RTP of 96.29%. Bets range from 10 c to $/€100 on each spin, and there’s also a bonus buy for those who’d rather jump past the base game.
On the reels, 10 through Ace card ranks—styled like metal set on wood—serve as the low-paying symbols, while 4 orc character icons make up the higher pays. A 5-of-a-kind line of royals returns 1 times the bet, while the premium symbols pay 10 to 15 times the bet for 5 OAK. Wilds top the table at 20 times the bet for a 5 OAK win and can land on every reel, substituting for any standard paying symbol.
Blademaster: Slot Features

Feature-wise, Blademaster brings the Blademaster feature, free spins powered by a global multiplier, and a buy feature.
Blademaster
The Blademaster feature may trigger at random in both the base game and during free spins. When it activates, 2 to 5 wild multipliers land on the reels, with a maximum of 1 per reel. In the base game, multiplier values can be x2, x3, x4, x5, or x10. If Blademaster triggers in free spins, the total of the wild multipliers is equal to the total of the Global Multiplier. Wild multipliers boost any wins they help create. If a single win includes multiple wild multipliers, their values multiply together before being applied to the payout.
Free Spins
The free spins round is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols together in the base game, awarding 10, 12, or 14 free spins. During the feature, landing blue flags boosts the Global Multiplier by +2, +3, +4, +5, or +10. The Global Multiplier begins at x2 and can climb to a maximum of x50. On each free spin, a wild multiplier equal to the Global Multiplier appears on one random reel unless the Blademaster feature triggers. When the Blademaster feature is activated, the Global Multiplier is split into 2 to 5 wild multipliers, with their combined value matching the Global Multiplier. Landing 3 scatters during the feature grants +5 extra free spins.
Buy Bonus
Players can purchase entry into the free spins feature for 100 times the bet. When free spins are bought, the RTP increases slightly to 96.3%.

Blademaster: Slot Verdict
One of the more interesting things about Backseat Gaming so far is the studio’s readiness to jump between themes without leaning too heavily on a single style or sticking to safe, familiar tropes. From Sleepy Grandpa to the serpents of Lord Venom, and now fantasy orcs, nothing seems out of bounds—at least for the moment—which is refreshing. The same level of variety isn’t quite as evident in the features and overall gameplay. While Backseat Gaming has aimed for different play experiences, the mechanics introduced so far haven’t felt especially standout in the wider market. Not dismissing them, but Blademaster is another title that finds it hard to step out from the long shadow Hacksaw Gaming casts.
The base game, in particular, can slip into a bit of a grind. The Blademaster feature is available in the main game, but it appeared infrequently during the review, so adding FeatureSpins in the way many Hacksaw Gaming slots do might have improved the pacing. The natural hit rate for free spins would also be interesting, as it may take a long stretch of play to trigger them organically. That said, when Blademaster does connect, it can tear through the grid—highlighted by a near 1,000x win that arrived suddenly in the base game. After that, Blademaster’s 13,000x the bet max win felt more within reach.
Overall, Blademaster delivered a mixed experience: a strong start, a slower middle, and a reasonably satisfying finish. There’s plenty of spectacle, and credit to Backseat Gaming for exploring themes with curiosity, but it may also be a slot where you wait a while before the action truly kicks off.
