Big Cat King Megaways: Overview
Blueprint Gaming is one of the busiest studios when it comes to producing Megaways titles, and this outing sees them leaning hard into a big-cat theme. Don’t expect cute, cuddly house cats, though—these are the wild, dangerous kind, which helps crank up the tension. Feature-wise, it’s a little less daring. There is a free spins wheel that feels slightly fresher, but beyond that Blueprint largely sticks to the familiar Megaways toolkit seen across many of their releases.
It feels like Blueprint cooked this one up on a blistering hot day out on the African plains. The opening screen shows a parched, dusty landscape under a sky packed with high, hazy heat clouds that hint at rain, even though you know it won’t arrive for weeks. In the distance, a few vultures circle above a dead elephant and her calf. Strangely enough, there isn’t a single cat in sight.

Hit the arrow and the scene shifts to the main action: a 6 reel setup filled with these impressive predators. Each reel can display between 2 to 7 symbols, and there’s also an extra horizontal reel across the top with 4 additional positions. Because the reel heights change every spin, the game can generate up to 117,649 ways to win. The reels can look a touch flat thanks to the muted low-pay symbol backgrounds, but overall the visuals are crisp and easy to read.
To take on the pride, you’ll need to choose a stake from 20 p/c to $/€10 per spin, available across devices. Blueprint’s math model is as steady as expected, starting with a healthy RTP rating of 96.5% – which can rise to a top value of 97.0% when using the bonus buy. Volatility is set to high, and the payouts can be rewarding if the hunt goes your way.
In total, there are 10 standard paying symbols. At the bottom are 10-A royals on brown backgrounds, while the premium set is made up of five cats – panthers, leopards, cheetahs, tigers and lions. You’ll need at least 3 matching symbols to get paid, with the exception of the lion, which pays from two of a kind. Six lions return 50x, while the other high symbols range from 7.5x down to 1.75x. Supporting win creation is the Wild, which can replace any symbol apart from the scatter.
Big Cat King Megaways: Features
There’s little here that will catch seasoned Blueprint players off guard, as most of the mechanics are well-worn staples in the studio’s catalogue. In this section you’ll come across cascades, free spins, mystery symbols, and the Spin-Creaser Wheel.
The cascade feature activates after any win. Winning symbols are removed, and fresh symbols fall into the gaps. This can create additional wins and potentially long win streaks from one paid spin. When no further winning combinations appear, the cascade sequence stops.
The mystery symbols are presented as a cluster of green leaves. A set number can land at random on any spin, and they all then convert into the same symbol, boosting the odds of forming stronger payouts.
To unlock the game’s bigger potential, you’ll need a minimum of 4 scatter symbols to trigger free spins – 4 awards 12 free spins, and each additional scatter adds 5 more free spins.
Before free spins start, players can choose to gamble for as many as 50 spins via the Spin Booster Wheel. The wheel contains red and green slices that award different spin totals. Spinning it costs a multiple of your total bet – for instance, 10x/stake per spin from a 4 scatter trigger or 20x/stake per spin from a 6 scatter trigger.
While free spins are running, a win multiplier is applied. It begins at x1 and increases by +1 after every winning cascade. The multiplier is uncapped and it carries over between free spins rather than resetting. Scatters can still appear, but only on the extra reel, where landing 3 or 4 awards 5 or 10 extra spins.
Some players, depending on their location, may have access to the bonus buy feature. Using it lets you purchase 8, 10, 12 or 25 free spins for 50x, 75x, 100x, or 250x the bet respectively. It also boosts the RTP to 96.89%, 96.9%, 96.91%, or 97.0% respectively.
Big Cat King Megaways: Verdict
It’s difficult to feel wildly hyped about Big Cat King Megaways because it largely delivers the familiar Blueprint Gaming approach, just wrapped in a new theme. That doesn’t mean it’s a poor slot—far from it. There’s a reason the studio keeps returning to the same feature set: players clearly enjoy it. And it is entertaining, especially with cascades running throughout and the free spins round made more exciting by the climbing win multiplier.
The small twist is the aptly named Spin BoostWheel which, like most gamble-style add-ons, can be a blessing when it hands out extra spins and a curse when it refuses to cooperate. When everything aligns, you can land wins of up to 50,000 times your stake or $250,000 – whichever comes first.
Overall, Big Cat King Megaways is another solid Megaways entry from Blueprint Gaming. It won’t be taking home prizes for originality, and it probably wasn’t meant to. What you do get is a sharp-looking slot with reliable features and strong core stats. It’s a familiar formula, but an effective one.
