Beast of Wealth: Overview

Beast of Wealth is one of three titles in Play’n GO’s trio of wealth based slots. Wealth by name, wealth by nature since all three have been built around progressive jackpots. This isn’t exactly Play’n GO’s usual stomping ground, so the studio has come out swinging by releasing three at once. Maybe the idea is that at least one becomes a player favourite? Or perhaps they had a stack of Asian-themed assets and code ready to repurpose. Hard to say. What’s clear is that all three lean into Asian styling and are aimed at big win hunters chasing four progressive jackpots.

Against the other entries in the trilogy, Beast of Wealth comes across as the most traditional in appearance. When it loads, there’s no doubt about the setting. The 5-reel, 243 win ways play area sits inside a wooden, temple-like frame topped with a tiled roof in classic Asian style. Lanterns dangle from the structure, while misty mountains loom in the background. As mentioned, it’s a more classic Asian presentation.

Players can join the chase with stakes from 10 p/c to $/€100 per spin, whether on mobile, tablets, or desktop. The math model mirrors Celebration of Wealth and Temple of Wealth in many respects, including a fairly high but not savage volatility, which the studio lists as 7/10. RTP has dipped a touch to a default of 96.17%, still a strong number for a progressive given that each bet contributes to the jackpots. Still, it’s worth checking the paytable before you start, because as with other Play’n GO releases, RTP is variable and may appear at a lower setting.

The paytable offers 10 standard symbols – 6 low pay royals and 4 higher-value icons. The premium set is a stylised mix of beasts such as turtles, birds, tigers, and dragons. Landing five premium symbols across a win line pays from 2 to 10 times the stake. Wild combinations pay the same as the high pay dragon. Shaped like a gong, the wild can land anywhere and substitutes for any symbol except the scatter to help complete winning combinations.

Beast of Wealth: Features

Beast of Wealth – free spins

Beast of Wealth keeps things as straightforward as its sister slots in the feature department. The base game rolls along in a fairly standard way until a bonus is activated. There are two in total – free spins and the jackpot feature.

The Yin & Yang symbol is the key to triggering free spins. It can land on any reel and pays 5, 10, or 50 times the stake for 3, 4, or 5 on screen. Getting at least 3 anywhere in view starts the free spins round, and as before, players get five choices to pick from:

  • Turtles – 118 Turtle symbols added to the reels.
  • Birds – 108 Bird symbols added to the reels.
  • Tigers – 98 Tiger symbols added to the reels.
  • Dragons – 88 Dragon symbols added to the reels.

The 5th selection is a mystery option that grants 88-118 of any symbol type. The dragon is appealing because it’s the top-paying symbol on the paytable, but fewer of them are added, which makes it tougher to connect wins. Put simply, the option you choose can noticeably shift the volatility.

In free spins, every other premium symbol is stripped out, meaning only the selected symbol can appear during the feature. The bonus starts with 8 free spins and can be retriggered by landing three or more scatter symbols.

Scatters are useful, but if you’re chasing the jackpot, it’s Gold Reels you’ll be hoping for. On any base game spin, between 1 and 5 reels can randomly become Gold Reels. If a wild lands on at least one Gold Reel, it activates the jackpot feature. Once it begins, players see 12 logo coins and pick them one at a time to uncover jackpots – the Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand. Find three matching jackpots to claim that prize. As with the other games, 1.5% of each stake is taken to build the jackpot pool, and higher bets improve your odds of triggering a jackpot.

Beast of Wealth: Verdict

In truth, it’s largely a case of more of the same, because Beast of Wealth echoes the other two games in the series in so many respects. The bonus has been adjusted, but the core appeal remains taking shots at the progressive jackpots. Beast of Wealth leans a bit more into the Asian theme, yet there isn’t a huge amount that truly separates the three. They share similar stats, similar math models, and the non-jackpot upside is much like it was before.

So how should players pick one over the others? Realistically, it’s not easy. They’re all connected to the same network, meaning players may effectively be chasing the same prizes. The free spins setups do vary, though, so trying all three in demo mode is probably the best way to settle on a personal favourite.
